This school is absolutely trash just look at their policy if u accidentally push or hit another teacher u can get suspended isn't that so stupid I've gotten severely sick from eating the food at this school. The teachers give me attitude for literally no reason for example Math class I have an A and got a pass/advanced on my SOL and I have been constantly been getting punished from her like one day as I was getting water a student insulted me and I ignored them, the student then I said I was bothering them and my math teacher manipulated them into getting me in trouble by telling her to report it when I didnt do anything. This school is also filthy, cockroaches have gotten into my locker and somehow got into my bookbag and ripped the cover of my science notebook clean off. This school absolutely favors the teachers. This has to be the worst school in Chesapeake DO not go if u don't want to be constantly getting annoying emails from teachers complaining about u about the smallest things get bullied also don't go if u don't wanna get food poisoning.

This school made me feel like dying, constant bullying, no help, no body even cared, I'm still attending and I've never and I mean never had SO many anxiety attacks in one school year, also the rumors never get taken care of, I'm constantly judged, constantly bullied, constantly looked down upon, even my sister was physically harmed, mentally and emotionally destroyed as so am I, my father is threatening putting this school on wavy 10 and i hope he does. Don't put your kids here. Keep them safe

My sister and I both attended the school she was high functioning special needs. She only had to take one special needs class but she was so high functioning she could take normal classes for the rest of her curriculum. She was constantly bullied teachers didn't do anything about it too literally crying have meltdowns. We had a situation where she called my mother because some of the students were throwing sharpened pencils at her and the teacher didn't do anything. When I attended the school everyone was so rude and disrespectful I literally had a violin teacher who I was with the three years and she would pretend not to know me in the hallway. I was not a bad student I tried I was very quiet I was one of the types to put your head down and just keep going. I took our class and I literally had a teacher let students steal my artwork and then accuse me of being unoriginal and having no imagination. And the student that stole my work was not punished. I recall creepy male teachers I got a kick out of embarrassing some of the girls as in making them stand by trash cans during lunch and just doing weird things so you didn't really understand as a child as a grown woman you do. Administration will take the side of bullies because they would cry first even if you were just defending yourself and I don't mean physically I mean verbally as In telling them to leave you alone. I had to believe that was so bad that when I finally stood up for myself they tried getting me in trouble and my mother had to threaten calling the news and suing the school for me to get out of it. But they did nothing to the other girl who was harassing me. I would rather my child not have an education then attend this school.

I attended this school for about 2 1/2 years from the middle of 6th grade (then Covid hit) until the last day of 8th grade. Overall, I have to say that IRMS isn't that bad of a school. Most of the students and teachers are respectful, and they're useful when it comes to special needs. I had a good time the couple months I was there for 6th grade (after coming from a horrible middle school) and a not so great time during 7th grade, virtual year...I think we can all agree on that. But, the most important year would definitely be 8th grade since Covid died down tremendously and I was there a full year. What I like about Indian RIver is that you get appreciated and noticed for your hard work. I had all A's the entire year and part of the reason I maintained straight A's is because I really enjoyed the donut parties they had each quarter where they also give out ribbons and certificates. Most of my teachers were very respectful towards me as well as staff in general, which made school more enjoyable. Just know what if you get Team Academy in 8th grade, you're guaranteed a really good school year :-) Unfortunately, the whole time I was in middle school, I never had a single field trip, which was a bummer, but now they are having more field trips which is good that it changed. Also, when I was in 8th grade, I won't lie, the field day event for ending the school year was trash since it ended early due to rain, the activities were a little too childish, and the food wasn't so good. At least the year after I left, they had a good dance. I'm mentioning these events to show you that many things are changing around IRMS and it's getting better. They also added a Soccer and Baseball team this school year. Indian River is a very fun school if you get good grades, are involved, and do well in general. I guess the only thing I really have to say should still change is the building itself. It is very old and rundown and was built many decades ago. It's a little depressing to look at, but it's not the worst thing. But yes, Indian River is not a bad school and I do recommend it.

So far, this school has been great. My son is a smart kiddo but somewhat of a class clown and his teachers and counselors handle issues well. IÂ’m always informed when thereÂ’s been an incident and we work together to keep him in line. They donÂ’t just label your child and throw him/her to the wayside, they redirect and stay on top of things. Academically, they are awesome and they take pride in being an AVID National Demonstration School. Nothing bad to say about IRM.

This was one of the worst schools I have ever seen. I could only stay in this school for one month and I was already feeling alone, getting slapped, and and dealing with bad teachers. In one month i had to just leave and do online school.
