Just new to the area from florida and teacher said my daughter was not following basic curriculum in front of my daughter and me, and she explained, we all know florida doesn't have good schools. Well she was on gifted program in FL and here not following basic curriculum? we is her support into new transplant into the area? did she ever study psychology? I don't think she knows what it means time to adapt or adaptation. How can a school in florida rates 10/10 and rosa lee is 7/10 and be better? I do believe school has good teachers and I firm believer that we should change teachers if we want. She did suggest all professionals in Florida were not truthful with my daughter. we got her on extra classes outside school and she is doing great, with a great teacher.

There is homework sent everyday from Monday to Thursday and it is considering how kids can handle it.

The teachers did a phenomenal job with my son, who has learning differences. From kindergarten to 5th grade his teachers were awesome. My son is now in 6th grade, in all honor classes and a straight A student. There were a lot of struggles for him, but each teacher and the administration worked diligently with me to figure out what learning style worked best for him.

They offer the students websites to homework they can work on. Reading, math etc. WE have been to many schools and this is the first to offer this. My children have already progressed more than they have in years.

The teachers go above and beyond to help the students learn. Friendly and wonderful staff.

My kids have moved around a great deal. Thus, they were behind thier peers and shy. This school not only in a year have taken their learning to new levels, but brought them out of t hier shells and they have made wonderful friends. The staff is friendly and hardworking, I would not want to move my kids anywhere else.

My kids have been going to this school since we moved to the area. Our kids previously went to private school. Ms. Hines is fantastic. We couldn't be happier with the teacher interaction, community support, and quality of education.
Posted: January 28, 2017
The teachers, guidance counselors, and administration have made this a top priority so that they can prevent any issues.
Posted: January 28, 2017
RLC is one of the top inclusive practice schools in the county. All students are treated as equal individuals and met right where they are.
Posted: January 28, 2017
High expectations for staff and students. They hear any and all parent concerns and will do everything possible to help.
Posted: January 28, 2017
One of my favorite parts about RLC is that they work to develop the whole child: mind, body, and spirit.
Posted: January 28, 2017
I have never seen such a highly trained staff. The administrative staff has extremely high expectations for each staff member and it shows.
Posted: January 28, 2017
In my experience they have creative, differentiated, and worthwhile homework.
Posted: January 28, 2017
Any negative review prior to 2013 is not reflective to how the school is now. The new administration is forward-thinking, innovative, responsive, caring, and top-notch. This school had the best test scores in the entire county last year and is regarded as the top elementary school by the school board. Each teacher is highly-trained and implements effective, engaging, higher-order thinking, project-based learning. I have never been more impressed by a school. I know that many people complained about the bus/car line situation, but that is not within the school's control. When the county took away buses from schools that had houses within walking distance, the staff at RLC campaigned to have them returned. The staff works in the car line every day to make sure that each kid get's home safely now that they lost the extra buses. They have done everything within their power to make transportation easy for parents, but anything bus-related is out of their control.
You will NOT be disappointed by RLC. If anything ever comes up, just email the teacher and it will be resolved immediately. What a school!

Dropping off and picking up kids is a big challenge. They don't have enough school buses so most kids either have to walk or get a ride from parents. You can't even park near the school to pick up kids. You literally have to walk from your home to pick up your kids. If you want to bring a car to pick up your kid, expect to wait in car for at least 30 min. Rosa Lee is also right next to a High School. These two schools create big traffic in the morning and afternoon.

We love Rosa Lee Carter and will stay in this area of Ashburn for as long as our children are in Elementary school! Principal Ms. Hines is just amazing and our daughter's kindergarten teacher Mrd. Peng has made the entire year so much fun and our daughter has learned so much. We are almost sad the Summer is here!

We are SO excited for the Rosa Lee Carter school community as they just (last week!) received the Academic Excellence Award for the second year in a row! So exciting! The administration has been very attentive to any student or family concerns and for that we are thankful.
We can't wait to return next year to see all of the wonderful things Rosa Lee Carter will be doing!

Just check the demographic/diversity before enrolling your child. It was very difficult for my daughter to find and make friends, as other cultures did not embrace her due to her Caucasian ethnicity. She is a clear minority in her class, and is at an age where she recognizes it. We are now moving to another school district with more diversity.

Our child transferred in mid-year and his teacher and the administration went above and beyond to assist in his transition. The class sizes are larger than we hoped they would be but we always felt like our child received the attention and supported he needed. The administration is consistently responsive and wants to work cooperatively with us to provide our child with a positive school experience.

We are very happy with the school although we only started 1 year ago. Compare from Maryland public and some private schools, RLC exceeded our expectations.

Although the school is good, I am a bit depressed about the way students are handled during pickup at morning. There are no rules (K first etc) or anyone comes at anytime and stands anywhere in the queue. I am writing this because, my kid was pushed back from the queue and other kid went ahead. There was no student patrol. In fact friends of student partroling kids come after maybe 15 kids but go in bus with them before even all other kids who have come before them. I would strongly suggest to mentor Patrol to observe discipline during getting on the bus.

Great school which does everything well. The teachers are great and hardworking. The only thing that takes away from this is lack of competitive activities and fun options.

this school is the best nice teachers the teachers help you so much. and i can help out so much I love this school.

The diversity in this school is non existent. The teacher my son had was horrible. She only had one method for teaching, which did not work for my child. They are very stereotypical and are quick to classify a child b4 offering different strategies. The overall curriculum is good and sound, as the avg teacher seems caring. The front desk is horrid, they never smile and act as if you are bothering them. I am moving just to get out of this school's district. Very sad as my intentions to moving to loudoun county was b/c of the better education for my child.

This is my daughters 6th year at Rosa Lee Carter ES. She has enjoyed every minute at the school. She loved every teacher she got. She hates holidays because she can t go to school and has to stay home .She had 5 great years and I am sure she will have an excellent 6th year. I admire the principle, the teachers, and the staff members. They are all very caring about the kids. I am a little shocked by the negative comments by the parents. In my opinion the parent s are equally responsible in the education and development of their kids. Depending on the kids development/ability the kids will be placed in more challenging circle at school. I like the way the teachers make the curriculum enjoyable for the kids. They feel more like a play than a lesson.

I researched so many schools before we decided to move into the neighborhood for Rosa Lee Carter and am very happy with the school. My children are excited to go to school and are having fun learning.

This is my second year as an RLC parent and I have nothing but good things to say about this school. My children enjoy going to school and I feel they are in a safe, caring environment while they are at school. I believe this school provides a great foundation for a lifelong love for education.

My kids attend 1st and 3rd grade at RLC. I am fairly impressed with the school in terms of safety, hygiene, healthy learning atmosphere, competitiveness and quality of education. The school's strategy of teaching good values to the kids is commendable. Kid's workload is fairly balanced. Both my kids enjoy going to school and have good friends. Many of the kids at RLC come from well educated & well to-do families, which, I believe, also helps in creating a safe & healthy learning environment. The teachers have always responded promptly to any of my queries. The teachers pay attention to my kid's individual needs, which I liked very much. My kids had a quality time at RLC this year. As a parent who wants to provide the best available opportunities to my kids, I believe Rosa Lee Carter is a good place to start!

I just moved in to the community and my children came from Belmont Station. I strongly feel that my two girls 1st and 2nd grade are not being challenge academically. My daughters beg me everyday to take them back to Belmont Station. The teachers are absent to often and the children have substitutes that of course don't have a plan. I cannot afford to send my children to private school and I am very unhappy with the school. I also agree that the principal makes excuses for the school not being up to standard. I wish I could transfer my children back to Belmont Station which is a great School.

this school is awsome and 8 out of 10 but i got to say millrun has 9 out of 10 and rosa lees great though

The school has awesome facilities. But the quality of education that is being offered is dependent on few teachers. My daughter has been here since grade 1. There is a lot of concern about the quality of education that is offered by the parents. But the principal tries to defend that the school is well. The kids are not challenged, often there are no home works and teachers do not stick to any gameplan, mediocrity is ok. For kids who are brilliant and want to be stretched, they will be very disappointed.

Hello, I am a possible future RLC parent. I am 27 and I have two girls ages 5 and 7. I made a choice to move to this area for my children and their education. Overall to a nicer area of Loudoun County. I was walking around in the neighborhood and came across a couple of middle school kids who was doing a fundraiser and they asked what school my kids would be attending because they wanted to know if it was going to be the same school they once attended. So I told them that they would possibly be attending RLC. The boys eyes lit up with excitement and only spoke positive things about the school! So that is what brought me to this cite today. After reading the reviews I was a little disappointed in a lot of the review in regards to the academic program not being challenging enough. I am in a debate between public and private school so keeping up with the reviews of the school is important to me. We will see how RLC does this year in school ratings so that I can make my determination next year between public or private school.

Our son will be a 3rd grader at Rosa Lee Carter this fall. We have been very happy with the teachers, administration and facilities. Our son has been challenged and very interested in all of his subjects. We have nothing but positive things to say about RLC. It is a great school!

My daughter almost finished the first grade there. The school is fantastic, great facility, and great staff and she learnt a lot ! For kids beyond their reading level and math, the teacher formed different study groups to encourage learning. Most of all, everyday when she comes back, she is really happy and excited to share the stories/activities happened in school. Thumbs up with no reservations.

My family's experience at Rosa Lee Carter has been wonderful, and I am surprised by some of the reviews. The school is very focused on academics, and my children have never been bored. Children are assessed and placed into groups based on their level. I have a gifted child, and one who has ADHD. The administrators, teachers, specialists and counselors have worked hard to make sure my children receive what they need. In fact, the principal goes into the classrooms regularly and gets to know each child. Because of the staff's caring and devotion, my children have been very successful. I would recommend this school to anyone.

My son has been going to Rosa Lee Carter for 2 years and I have to say I agree with all the other reviews, that my child is not challenged enough and is on occasion bored. I believe that kids are like sponges and this is the time while they are still young and with the amount of competition out there, that they need to have a bit of a challenge to prepare them for the future. I am very much involved with my child and his homework and sometimes I feel that I am picking up the pieces that the school is not providing. I do not like when my child's class has a substitute, the work that they do is boring and below their grade level. If you are considering dropping off or picking up your child at this school, be prepared, it is disorganized and frustrating.

I am surprised to the rating for this school as 6. Based on what we are told by the school administration, i was hoping that the school rating is in the vicinity of 8. Also keep in mid this school is not very old.

My son attended this school for 3 1/2 years when we had enough and moved him to a private school. He was not challenged in reading or math. I spoke with his 3rd grade teacher and the principal and was told that he was above grade level not to worry. He was also bullied on the playground and his teacher didn't notice it at all. We moved into this expensive neighborhood to provide our children with the best education possible and now find it necessary to pay for private school.

I have 3 children who were there at the opening of RLC. We have had a wonderful experience with them! My oldest is now at Stone Hill Middle School and said that she felt absolutely prepared for middle school and LOVES IT! Wonderful school there, as well! My other two have ADHD and the teachers, guidance counselors and administration have been caring, attentive and creative with finding solutions to meet their needs and keep up with their giftedness, as well. They have been understanding in tough times and cheerleaders for us and our kids throughout it all--believing the best and praising the kids. My suggestion to parents is to GET INVOLVED. Our kids' education is a team effort--school and parents.
