My granddaughter went here for 2 1/2 years. In her 8th grade year she became a victim of being bullied. Her Mother went to the principal and assistant principal. With no help from either of them she contacted the School Board. My daughter pulled my granddaughter out until the school board contacted her. They said that the principal and assistant principal
Would be calling to set up an appointment to meet with both of them. She got the call the following day from the principal that they wanted to meet the next day. My daughter and grand went and the principal nor the assistant principal never showed up for the meeting he set up. My granddaughter’s 8th grade counsellor was there and apologize for the other two not being there.
My granddaughter was bullied because she made friends with a girl that nobody liked. She at one point had 15 girls that were going to beat her up. One girl who was in one of her class threatened to set her hair on fire and to cut it off. The saddest part is that a lot of the girls were friends with my granddaughter before. My granddaughter said to me “ I’m not afraid of their words and I’m not afraid to fight 1 if I had to but I can’t fight 15!!!” So making friends with someone who doesn’t have many at this school seems to be an issue with some students that think bullying is okay!
And where is the Principal? Sitting in his office playing on his phone??????
Choose another School NOT ELKO MIDDLE!!!!

Coming from a student (8th grade), I think Elko middle is good school! Most, not all teachers help students in many ways. Elko taught; is teaching me everything I need to know. last year, Mr. Aberle was the best math teach you could ever learn from! Now I am in an advanced math thanks to him. Lastly, the only downfall is the students and some of the adults. Some kids don't try hard enough and some of the teachers are disrespectful to children. To conclude, Elko is overall a good school.

The teachers rarely update the homework board. When they do, about every 3 weeks, I tend to find assignments that my child has missed.

Posted: February 15, 2018

If the administration doesn't display strong character, how can the children?

Posted: February 15, 2018

These people are a joke! If you can't discipline a child, the child grows up to believe that there are no consequences for their actions.

Posted: February 15, 2018

We do not have a special needs student

There are no consequences for their actions

Posted: February 15, 2018

This school is not preparing our children for the future. Impress upon them a college education and what it takes to get it. Also, show them that there are consequences for their actions, good or bad.

It has been filled with fights and bullying. My one request is that you send a student who doesn't have a past of bullying. Students at Elko who do bully are not taken seriously. Getting suspended doesn't teach a child anything they just get a few days of free time.

Our child will not be attending this mess of a school as long as the current administration is in charge. It is total chaos and our child is suffering because of it.

Bad school. Bad lunch, literally serves pizza and fries everyday (and tells kids to eat healthy) yet the lunch price is so high. Bad teachers who only cares about their income. Bad principal. Bad school in general.

This school is notorious for suspending kids... The principal will set up meetings and not attend .. She is never available.... That's if she is there.. Teachers there give up on the students... They allow administrative aides to suspend your kid. People who are just qualified to teach gym... Smh... Lunch is horrible.. Kids served same meal everyday..yet school fees and taxes are outrageous...

Elko's teacher's only care about the money they get, they don't care that some kids don't pay attention in class. The principal punishes all the kids reguardless if they were all disrespectful or not. The school is very unfair to the students who behave.

I think this is the best school ever. I am a sixth grader and I find nothing wrong about Elko. Who cares if their strict! Their strict because they want everyone to be safe. I'm Megan and I am a fantastic Elko Eagle! <>Megan Cook.

Amazing to read a review from non-parenting folk who want to blame teachers for how badly their kid act at school. Elko is a good school - with good teachers and a good Principal. Yes it is strict - but for the right reasons - too keep kids safe, and allow learning to happen. We sent our two girls there because it is a safe place for child to learn - and we chose it over Fairfield and rolfe. People who complain want the school to be run like a day care so their child can do whatever they want and get away with it. Teachers at ELko work hard for the kids and will help them - I know first hand - both my girls done great there. If your child come to school to learn at Elko then they will have no problem.

I am an eighth grader at Elko Middle and have gone for all three years. This school does not have the best teachers, they will loose your work then blame it on the students. If you do not turn in the work that you've already done you will just get a zero. Many of my teachers never give us notes for class or the flyers for school happenings. The last negative thing is that most of the teachers turn their head when they see or hear a bad kid do/say something rude and or disrespectful, they see the good kids always doing something by accident and jump to conclusions. The good things i have to say about this school is that it has a few, rare, good teachers. I have two teacher this year that i like and all three years i have had 8 teachers that i like in total(8 classes every year 1 teacher per class).

This school could do much better in regards to teacher student supervision of the children. My son was sent home with a complete stranger by a teacher when the bus was late. The principal, as well as, the school board showed minimal interest in rectifying the situation appropriately.

I have enjoyed my son's first year at Elko so far. I have never been in a school where the Exceptional students were treated equally. Mr Suhr Rocks, I wish he could be cloned!

if the staff and administration weren't a bunch of totalitarians I'd like the place but at least the building condition is excellent

I strongly dislike elko because the staff considers no one but themselves i think its absolutely ridiculous when teachers take time out of the students class period to talk to another teacher about other students . NOT RECOMMENDED!
