Former parent. We lasted one year. I do not recommend the school.

The spiritual climate of St. Veronica is ill. A question or clarification on school policy with the office is labeled non-compliance and met with a threat of retaliation against children. Teachers are fearful to challenge anything the office says even when the office isn't aligned with diocesan-approved policy. Just walking into the school a parent is met with hostility; the greeting from the staff isn't, "How can I help you?" but rather, "Why are you here?" Office staff will lie about interactions with parents; what could be more unchristian than that. Principal and pastor take no action to stop this.

If you are looking for a healthy spiritual climate, recognition of children as human beings worthy of respect, parents welcomed in the classroom, and respectful, consistent communication, you will be disappointed. My kids lost their developing faith in this school. The hostile micromanagement of children is antithetical to the Catholic view of the child as a whole person. While instilling fear and shame can appear to work on the surface, they do not cultivate authentic moral virtue. That the Church's primary message is one of JOY is lost in the teaching of the faith at this school.

Overall - the school relies heavily on technology (for ease of grading, which is just lazy), does not communicate well with parents, does not have an open forum for feedback, follows FCPS for weather closures (even when its own lot has been clear for many days) by choice (diocese does not require this), does not welcome volunteers, has minimal outdoor time (15 min/day), and has poor academics. Don't be deceived by the big, green campus; the kids aren't allowed to play in the green space during recess. They are often restricted to the blacktop instead, aren't allowed to climb trees, run fast, pick up sticks, or be normal kids. Staff these enforce rules by yelling at the kids constantly.

My children did not make much academic progress; one began the year ahead of grade level and lost ground, finishing far below. My 6th grader was assigned one book the entire year. Extremely flat curriculum; minimal out-of-classroom experiences. We are on the edge of DC with hundreds of opportunities to bring education to life, and the school office only allows 2 trips per year. Parents' ideas to bring experiences to classrooms are typically not allowed by the school office. Rote memorization is the preferred learning method.

This school honestly should have a standing ovation on how well they can act then break character the second the visitors or parents leave. There is I kid you not ONE whole hallway in the middle school side. The air conditioner breaks every other week, the classrooms smell like things that SHOULD NOT be used in the classroom has been used, there is one decent teacher, and the principal, goodness, who even hired him? Don't be fooled because it's a Catholic school, they lack firmly teaching their students virtue and the bullying is barely under control. One quick social media search and there are DOZENS of hateful pages UNDER the schools name. The entirety of this schools existence is downright shameful and can be considered a mockery. DO NOT ENROLL YOUR CHILD HERE!

St. Veronica has given to our children not only an education that surpasses our expectations, but an overall environment that is loving, caring, religious based and serving the larger community. During the pandemic, SVCS, not only opened but stayed open when both major public school systems (Loudon and Fairfax) could not keep it together.

Our children are well-balanced and adjusted to learning and living a life with Christ as the center. This year is finally back to normalcy with all fellowship events commencing. This is so important for both students and parents.

The principal, Mr. Busekrus, is top notch, and is a leader that every school should be blessed with having. The environment that is created for students and faculty/staff starts with the principal and trickles down. Others who have posted on here, are clearly in the minority, and are expressing there dishearted perspective. All reviews should be read, and much more importantly talking with administration. That will give any family interested in this wonderful school the chance to see for themselves the warm of our children's second home.

I have multiple kids in this school since 2016. Somewhat slim on resources but could not be happier with our experience. Lots of good people here in the parents, volunteers and staff. Teachers really put in the extra effort and truly care about the kids.

Dont enroll your kids in this school, its a very bad choice, its not within full enrichment of faith and parents slack on good merits for their own kids so the kids that are enroll with your excellent kids will be dismissed or isolated ignore socially and academically will not be challenged, they dont have quality resources, its more like your kids just go to school a very tight end ground school its very small and has no programs to meet the small size school and the quality of education your kids need. This review is for the middle school grounds. Comparing to other private schools where they have advance classes, allot of resources to uplift the students and foster unity among them, they don't have that at all, so your kid may run into trouble or need help they will be ignore shocking. Sadly allot of the parents that enroll their kids in the school are very selfish are not aware of the spectrum of the catholic faith education so kids turn into mean spirit beings and your children will suffer the outcome of their disrespect. they lack communication as well, the staff and teachers have a shortcoming at communicating and you will strive to meet your kids needs there is no middle ground. The school uniforms are not updated and its lacking a good presentation of the character that kids need to follow, Best luck and you know the truth now, and it will be your choice to do the right thing and not regret while you are being advice about the performance of this school.

So I'm a student here, and I started last year, so last year, our teacher was new and was his first year there. Our class was horrible. I felt very bad fir the teacher but he did not out the right people in trouble, keep in mind I was new and I was from a public school. Ok but I definitely prefer public school more, the class was in-person I miss my old school and I do not like this school at all, it's very different anyway, it's all my opinion.

This school has been exceptional both scholastically as well as socially. Additionally, I love the religious aspect. I cant imagine a better school for my children. Faculty is fantastic, we love this school.

The school changed beginning in the 2018-19 year to increase its focus on competitiveness, as if it is a selective private school and not a Christian institution above all meant to serve the children of parishioners.

In the lower grades, the kids get homework to enforce Math and Spelling words they learn. Starting 4th grade, the homework load increases along with Social Studies and higher level English and Math they cover. I strongly believe the homework does make sure the students dont pass a topic without a good understanding.

For the 3 years we have been at this school and with 2 kids, we have worked with multiple teachers. All are very attentive to each students learning. They communicate any concerns and are very responsive to parents. We have found the teacher to be very qualified! It was also an added bonus to know teacher encourage other abilities children have. For example, one of our kids is an artist and the year book and other books have enabled her to represent her skills. An our other child is in to nature and animals and he has gotten multiple opportunities to share his interest and feel recognized.

I highly agree. Through the Christian faith teachings the children are thought and demonestrated to by the teachers right and wrongs. For example, even the smallest level of taunting is not allowed and is handled immediately.

We have been at St. Veronica for 3 years. We applied to this school from out of town. The office staff was very receptive and proactive from our first contact. The teachers are very qualified and deal with the students with care. The Christian faith based teaching is very important to us. And that is surely demonestrated and thought at St. Veronica. At the same time the academics is of high standards and students are challenged with the curriculum. We are grateful for this school. God bless St. Veronica School!

This is our first year at SVS. Within the first week of school, our daughter's 3rd grade teacher contacted us with concerns over her subject placement tests. We met the next day to make a plan for our daughter's academic success. We have met frequently this school year to review my daughter's progress and to celebrate her improvements. I am so appreciative. This teacher has invested much extra work and time in my daughter and she is learning and growing in so many ways this year.

My husband is with the U.S. Department of State and our family moves regularly. We returned to the United States after four years overseas in time to start school at St. Veronica's. The admissions staff worked closely with us to assist us in applying for admission while we were out of the country. The teachers have shown compassion and provided practical measures to help our children adjust to their new school. By the first trimester parent/teacher conferences we were thrilled to receive confirmation that our girls were thriving socially and academically.

This is our second year at St. Veronica's, since moving to the area from out of state. Our daughters continue to be challenged academically, while being taught in a loving Catholic environment. The teachers are not only very capable and motivated to teach the children, they are approachable and make a habit of communicating expectations (via newsletters, email, conferences, etc.).

In today's world it feels even more critical that children grow up learning about moral choices and character values along with academics. While it may be a sacrifice to put your child in private school, know that the Catholic model of developing the "whole child" is being followed with success at St. Veronica's!

Our family has had an amazing experience so far at St. Veronica Catholic School. We are very happy with teaching and guidance that our children are experiencing from their teachers and the school administration staff each day . Before this year, I would have given the school 5 stars. After the change in principals, there has been a huge change. The school posted that it has a 14:1 student to teacher ratio, but my child's teacher constantly complains that she has 23 students and cannot spend "several minutes" every day giving my child "undivided attention". When we first went to the school, we heard about the decades of experience their teachers' had and up until this year that certainly seemed to be the case. Now we are paying for a first year teacher who is clearly overwhelmed and under qualified. If your child has learning differences, such as ADD do not even think of enrolling them here. If this is a blue ribbon school, the accomplishment is clearly achieved by exception with children requiring special attention pushed out of the school.

St veronica by far is the best school I was looking for. We live in loudoun county but choose to send our son to this school as I heard of its advanced curriculum. We were so happy that we made right choice.I should also say this, We are not from catholic background but the love and values school taught my son is amazing. If you are looking for a school with Good academics as well as moral education then this is the right choice. Its loving environment made my curious kindergartners quest for education successful. Thanks to the wonderful teachers, staff, principal and school.

St. Veronica School has been a bless and peace of mind in our family. They provided great spirituality food, fantastic teachers and administrative staff, they advocate for the kids and their goal is nurturing kid's minds and happy memories. The Academic structure is amazing, sometimes is full of activities and homeworks and I love it. My daughter is happy during the academic hours and she is even more happier in the after school program, lead by caring staff.

St. Veronica's is a school that goes above and beyond teaching children at a higher level than other schools. We moved to Loudoun Co. because of its schools but once we found out that their K is only 3 hours (for working parents this is not easy) we needed a school that was 1. quality. 2. all day 3. taught good morals and values and upon the recommendation of a friend we enrolled our child in St. Veronica's. Our child started in the middle of the school year at St. V's and has been very very happy and is learning tons. 3 hours is just not enough! Teachers/ aftercare communicate with parents on a daily basis to tell you your child's progress or just a simple e-mail on how he or she are doing. Class sizes are very small (15-17) vs 26. Teachers at this school actually love teaching YOU CAN SEE IT and FEEL IT. We are so glad for this great school !!

St. Veronica has been a wonderful school for my children. The Principal is in constant pursuit of providing world class education in a loving and Christian environment. The teachers are both innovative and traditional. They expect a lot from the children, but also take the time to help the children succeed.

Definitely one the best Catholic schools in Northern VA. Principal shows great action in achieving stronger academic goals for the whole school. Teachers and office staff in St Veronica are all wonderful people. People here are super duper nice....and it resonates all the way to the classes/students! It really does! From principal to the faculty and then to the students, everything makes sense in this school and the school atmosphere is fun, loving, warm and harmonious. Everyone gets along really ,really well. I'm very proud of ST Vernoica! The way they run things in this school were thought of carefully by the staff and every things else make real sense at ST Veronica.

As a former teacher, I took great care in finding a school for our children. St. Veronica's was one of the last schools I looked at, mostly out of curiosity, because we are not Catholic. Now, we have had our children here for three years. Early elementary academics are what you would expect, but from 4th grade on, academics are at a entirely different level. Teachers are happy and REALLY seem to love their jobs - which is rare these days. The principal is wonderfully supportive to her staff and students, yet manages to run a tight ship. There is no messing around here. Students learn good morals and develop an understanding that there are consequences for their actions. Thanks to this school, my children love learning. They feel good about themselves because they are supported and encouraged to do their best. They are developing strong study habits and time-management skills. My husband and I have been very impressed. I often see the public school kids playing outside -- after school on the weekdays. Why aren't they studying? Don't they have homework? I know we made the right decision to go to private. We strongly support this school.

The school is excellent - As a parent of K and 2nd Grade students, I am very impressed by the attitude and performance of the staff. Parents are fully involved and informed, and there is a real community feeling to the school. Our children have made great progress at this school and are always happy to go. The kids at the school are always smiling and while they don't have a gym, the PE instructor is excellent as can be seen from all the presidential fitness awards the pupils achieve each year. pupil to teacher ratios are quite low and the kids seem to get plenty of individual attention.

As a parent of several children that attend/have attended Saint Veronica School (since K), I would highly recommend this school to anyone looking for low student:teacher ratios, solid curriculum, excellent staff, and a strong sense of community. The school was established only 7 years ago and has made tremendous strides in its programs and activities as well as facilities. The only real knock against the school is there is not a gym. However, PE is a main part of the curriculum and offered multiple times a week for most ages. The teachers use edline to communicate with parents online and we have never had an issue in scheduling time with teachers/staff. There are many after school clubs/activities as well as social events for families to attend each academic year.
