Unfortunately, we were spoiled from another Montessori school and had pretty high expectations when coming here. We are In love with the Montessori method we had hopes of our child going here long term. The teachers overall are very nice ladies and they have done a great job during the pandemic regarding safety precautions. A big draw for us was that we read that there was Spanish Immersion. We thought that meant there would be regular Spanish being spoken and/ or taught throughout the day ( like our previous school) ...NOPE. Not even close. When asked about it there was a vague response that didn't make much sense. Essentially it doesn't happen. Communication is scarce, you are lucky to get someone on the phone. Who does that when you are caring for children? If you send an email, you may or may not get a response within the week. If it's on a topic that they don't want to discuss, fully expect to be ignored. If you have any feedback that is not praise, it will be seen negatively. Summer session is nothing more than overpriced daycare. Essentially there is no learning going on. Your kid will be outside all day basically running around the beautiful grounds, playing with legos for the same price as the rest of the year when learning is happening. Go figure. This year there is a cicadas take over. The sound is defening and your kid will be outside hearing that constant loud noise and avoiding cicadas. I was concerned for my kids hearing. It looks like the Egyptian plauge on some days. Not even kidding. You'd think that would make them bring the kids inside. NOPE. Summer here is a mess. Nothing could prepare us for this. If you want education I would say to only go during the year, if all the other things stated are okay with you. It almost seems the school is more of a pet project in some ways from how Administration is handled.Hopefully, things improve here it really could be a great school.

We got more than we bargained for in the MMS community. The staff is passionate about their mission, the property is beautiful, and there is an abundance of informational resources and support for families. They’ve built a nurturing and enriching environment for all ages that pairs well with our home values. It’s truly rewarding to have our children attend a school that promotes hands on learning experiences and unique opportunities for development. We feel fortunate to have found all of that here!

We have had such a wonderful experience with this school that I can't decide where to begin! Middleburg Montessori has exceeded my expectations in finding a community would nurture my children's curiosity and independence without rushing their childhood. Our introduction to Montessori began by attending the Mommy & Me program at Middleburg Montessori when my first child was just shy of 15 months old. Now at age four she is in her second year in the Primary class and her younger brother will be returning to the toddler program in the fall. The curiosity, concentration, focus and independence I have observed in both of my children, as well as their satisfaction in completing a self-directed task through to its natural conclusion, make the Montessori method a natural choice for us. I have an education background and have taught in both public and private school settings - some good, some great, some not so great - and know full well the importance of having the right personalities on staff. All of the teachers have that intangible "it" quality that just resonates so well with the children. I have been equally impressed with the elementary and middle school programs as well (I have had the opportunity to observe here and there) and I would strongly encourage anyone interested to set up an observation and witness this lovely educational community in action! (I would also add, there is a spoken Spanish-language element in both the toddler and primary rooms that is exceptional; in addition, the school community is much more diverse than what Great Schools has listed here.)

Confidence. Independence. Critical Thinking. Community Awareness. These are just a few of the attributes that can now describe my children since attending Middleburg Montessori. They are in an environment which stimulates each of them differently, uniquely, just as they each are individuals. I asked my older son, in the elementary program, which school he liked better, his new one or his old one (he was previously attending a different private school). His answer was, 'This One!' I asked, 'why'? He said, 'because now I can learn as much as I want'. Oh, to hear that your child feels unencumbered in his education! Thank you MMS for setting the foundation for my children that they will holistically become the students, friends, community members and individuals that we aspire them to be.

When choosing a school for our daughter, I knew I needed to visit ALL of the local options and observe the children and staff in their natural school setting in order to best asses which learning environment would foster and nurture the independent values we cherish. I feel like it is each parents greatest responsibility to expose their children to learning situations in a safe environment that allows them to flourish independently! I think coping mechanisms are a critical learned skill that all children need in order to be successful in every area of their lives. AMI Montessori with BethAnn is the way to go. Hands down! I encourage anyone interested to observe some of the competition and then to observe true AMI Montessorri and the choice will be as clear for you as it was for me! Wonderful, very supportive and creative about facilitating the blossoming of the individual. My daughter is very shy and is really coming in to her own at Middleburg Montessori. She loves the organized environment and relishes telling me everyday about what she's learning. She's starting to open up in her own way and very organically in the very supportive environment that, at the same time, provides the children with an excellent feeling of independence. Her teachers are on her list of favorite people of all time, right up there with family. She is learning how to be an independent, secure and confident little girl with her peers and within herself and it has been very fun and exciting to watch. Very very happy with the program.

This school has been such a blessing for our family. My son has been in the primary program for 2 years and it has been amazing to see his growth over that time, as well as the growth of his classmates. What I love about this school is that each child is able to follow his own interests and learn at his own pace. Whenever I have had concerns or questions about anything, the staff has always been very responsive. I am so glad we made this choice for our family and I would highly recommend this school to everyone.

All three of my children have attended this wonderful school. All three of my children transitioned from the Primary program into traditional schools and then returned when MMS added their elementary and middle school programs. The environment is beautiful, kind, creative, and innovative. The teachers are absolutely the best teachers my children have experienced. I cannot say enough about the quality of education this school offers. True Montessori is the MOST effective way to teach children and that is what the students that this school have the opportunity to experience.

Middleburg Montessori is an awesome school that teaches children the Montessori way, with lots do hands on and group work. I have multiple children at the school one in the primary and three in the upper class. I am pleased with how my children are progressing and are gaining more self confidence in themselves and respect for others around them. Parents can get involved in various events that benefit the school and are welcome to observe throughout the year. Middleburg Montessori has definitely been a wonderful education choice for our family and we highly recommend it for your child or children!

Middleburg Montessori is a truly exceptional school led by a fantastic group of teachers and parents. The academics, life skills education and overall environment are second to none. It's a small school with a huge heart. All students from all backgrounds are welcome with open arms into this fantastic school that remains focused on fostering a lifelong love of learning. This school is truly a gem. The head of the school is very passionate about her work and it shows in the care she exhibits toward the kids at the school as well as the way the school is run. The school is one of only a handful of AMI-affiliated schools in Virginia, so the educational philosophy is based on the teachings of Maria Montessori. If you're not familiar with the Montessori method, I'd encourage you to visit this school to see it in action. When I first visited the school, I was immediately impressed with the sense of community at the school and how engaged the children were in their work. What I love about the Montessori method is that each child is allowed to develop according to his or her own interests at his or her own pace. The school serves students from toddlers to teenagers, but it is small, so the students all get to know each other and there is a sense of community. The classroom and yard feel more like a comfortable home than an institutional environment. It's the kind of place I would've wanted to go to school as a child, and I'm so glad we've been able to send our child here.
