My two boys have had a truly wonderful experience at Herndon High. Theyve taken mostly Honors and AP courses, and what has stood out most is how invested their teachers have been in their success. The coursework is rigorous, and there have definitely been moments where theyve needed extra supportweve brought in outside tutors at timesbut to me, that speaks to the high expectations and strong academic environment. My oldest is now in college and thriving, and I genuinely believe Herndon prepared him incredibly well for that next step. As a family, we also deeply value the diversity of the school, the balance of competitive yet supportive athletics, and the genuine pride students feel being part of the Herndon community. Its been a really special place for our family.

My experience at this school was sub-mediocre. The teachers are disrespectful of students and over-disciplinary. When i attended Herndon high school, i was subjected to the most stress and pressure i ever have been due to the toxic environment. I would never choose to send my future children to this school. Id give 0/5 stars if possible.

current student, hate it. some good teachers but most either dont know what theyre talking about or barely care about their students. most teachers play obvious favorites. admin parades around saying school is a zero tolerance zone for bullying but turns a blind eye when people actually get bullied. they dont wanna deal with the consequences so they act like they arent happening.

Great school assembled with very diverse group of students, deeply involved communities and dedicated staffs and teachers. No matter what kind of the paths your students wish to proceed, Herndon High always has something to offer, from the academic, art or sport, to community, social or language. Above all, kindness and respect are often found among the graduates.
NASA funded Robotics program is absolutely a hidden gem. Class of 2022.

This school left me scarred, traumatized, and self-conscious. Sure, I got a decent education, but I was a social outcast humiliated by my peers while the administrators turned a blind eye to my situation. If your child is, generally speaking, a "weirder" type, i.e. louder, more spontaneous, or socially awkward, he will likely experience bullying and isolation by other students with little to no help from the administrators. If your kid has a mental disadvantage or disability, for his/her sake, BE ASSERTIVE WITH ADMINISTRATORS ABOUT YOUR ACCOMMODATIONS AND HIS/HER SITUATION. If you are able, I recommend going to another school unless your child is, generally speaking, popular with other children and NOT mentally or physically handicapped at all.

The one upside of this school is that unlike much of the administrative staff, most of the teachers know how to effectively do their job. Most seem to genuinely care about the success of their students, save for some who either don't care, or prefer to make the grading process simpler and faster for themselves via disregarding the IEP accommodations of students, because that would just take too much time.

They attempted to instill pride and integrity in every student, but failed miserably. Students cheated rampantly in just about every single class, bullies were often let off Scot-free without punishment out of the belief that they, out of the pure good intent of their hearts, will realize their fault and go forth with only love and kindness to everyone there forth. Often times the staff would idolize the kids who had high grades, but were the main ringleaders of bullying and social gossip,

I have severe ADHD and anxiety, and was made to feel as though I was at fault for my disadvantages. The accommodations for my ADHD of which I was intended to be provided were often blatantly disregarded by teachers.

My daughter graduated from Herndon High School in 2017 and my son is a Junior there now. She is now studying at Virginia Tech and excelling. I feel Herndon prepared her well for college. They both have developed strong friendships. The community at Herndon High is amazing. The teachers are excellent in most subjects. There is a good amount of diversity. Overall a great school and will be even better once the renovations are complete.

English teachers are very rigorous, math teachers are excellent! Science teachers, not bad, but they could be better.

My son is a junior. He has had a great experience at HHS. He chose to go the Honors and then AP route so he is surrounded by other serious students. Most of the kids at HHS are good kids, regardless of the classes they are in. It's important who your kids choose to hang out with. Most of the teachers really care and go above and beyond to help the students. There is a lot of school pride here.

Great high school, so much to offer for students in terms of honors program, classes and extra-curricular activities, preparing them for a good start for college!

My daughter had a horrible experience at Herndon High. She was assaulted twice (the principal did NOTHING!), she was bullied, she had teachers who cared only about test scores and nothing about the kids and one who was actually emotionally and verbally abusive to both students and parents (several of us complained and NOTHING was done about it). The only highlight was the choir teacher...she was fantastic. I would never send a child to this school! My child left traumatized.

I have had 3 graduate from Herndon High school. The teachers and staff were always helpful and available if my kids needed extra help. Our boys both played lacrosse and our daughter played volleyball and was in choir. The choir department at HHS is one of the best in the county. The other parents are supportive and helpful with volunteering for sports events or choir events. Everyone works together well. Our children have all gone to VA colleges with 2 graduating this year. I highly recommend the school!
