We enrolled our child at Veritas Collegiate Academy in the early years, and we stayed because it quickly became clear that this was a safe and steady place for growth.
From the beginning, our child was known by name, welcomed with care, and encouraged to grow in confidence within a structured and supportive environment.
Over the years, we have appreciated the consistency of the schools expectations and culture. The academics are thoughtful and challenging, but they are held within classrooms that are calm, orderly, and kind.
Teachers genuinely care about their students and take their role seriously, paying attention to both academic progress and character formation.
Our child has been encouraged to listen attentively, grow in responsibility, and take on leadership and service in age-appropriate ways. This emphasis on maturity and contribution has helped our child develop self-control, confidence, and a sense of purpose at school.
The work is meaningful and does require consistent effort, and we have spent many evenings working through assignments together, which has helped our child build strong habits and confidence.
One of the greatest strengths of Veritas is its sense of community. Many families remain at the school for years, creating a feeling of continuity that allows children to grow up together in a way that feels increasingly rare.
New families are welcomed naturally and supported as they find their place, which adds to the community rather than changing its character.
We have also appreciated the schools attentiveness to everyday needs. Teachers communicate clearly and respond thoughtfully, helping students feel supported and understood within the classroom.
Veritas Collegiate Academy is not a perfect or effortless school, but it is a good and faithful one. We believe God clearly led our family to this school, and it has been exactly what we needed. We are deeply grateful for this place and the people who make it what it is.

As a parent, I can honestly say that enrolling my child at Veritas Collegiate Academy has been one of the best decisions we have ever made. From the very first visit, we felt a sense of warmth and community that was truly remarkable. The welcoming atmosphere, coupled with the schools commitment to a classical education firmly rooted in Christian values, has made our experience nothing short of extraordinary.
The curriculum at Veritas is thoughtfully designed to encourage critical thinking and a love for learning. My child is not only being taught the foundational subjects but is also exposed to classical literature, history, and the arts in a way that engages and inspires. The Great Books approach has ignited a passion for reading and discussion, and I love hearing my child share insights and opinions on topics that are both challenging and enriching.
One of the standout features of Veritas is the dedication of the teachers. They are not just educators; they are mentors who genuinely care about the academic and spiritual development of each student. The small class sizes allow for personalized attention, and I have witnessed my child thrive in an environment where questions are encouraged, and curiosity is celebrated.
The integration of faith into the daily life of the school is another aspect that I deeply appreciate. Weekly praise and worship and a strong emphasis on character education foster a sense of moral responsibility and community service among the students. It is heartwarming to see my child learn the importance of kindness, integrity, and respect for others, which are values that will serve them well throughout their life.
Furthermore, the sense of community within the school is truly special. Parent involvement is encouraged and celebrated, creating a network of support that extends beyond academic life. We have formed lasting friendships with other families, and the events and gatherings organized by the school have fostered a strong sense of belonging.
In summary, Veritas Collegiate Academy has been a wonderful place for my child to learn and grow. The combination of rigorous academics, faith integration, and a nurturing community makes it a unique and enriching environment. I wholeheartedly recommend Veritas to any family seeking a school that prioritizes both academic excellence and character development. My child is thriving here, and I couldnt be happier with our choice!

This school touts diversity, but it's pretty much all about basketball. If you follow their social media, all they tout is their basketball program. If you're not good at the game, I'd stay away. The teachers are pretty cool, but seems to leave each year. The school is located in a field, so it's pretty safe, but not a lot going on in the area.

I absolutely love my time here sf Veritas. I was given an opportunity to transfer to another school, right across the street, and glad I did not leave.

Homework is used to support what the students do in class, not busy work.

Many highly decreed faculty. Including Cornell, Duke, and Columbia.

We really love the Leadership Training Program which seeks to build strong leaders.

Excellent administration that cares for all students, especially athletes.

The students with learning differences are supported by the faculty well with accommodations, I believe.

Bullying is unacceptable and all students function together like family.

Homework is appropriate. In upper school the students have main,y studying and reading to complete at home. Math is the one constant homework, and long research papers and projects are assigned but with an average of about 4 a semester.

My daughter has been blessed to have knowledgeable teachers who take the time to ensure each student is understanding the concept. Teachers will even stay after school if a child needs extra support.

The administration has always been immediately responsive to questions or concerns. In the 8 years we have attended the school, my family has only had positive experiences with the administration.

My daughter does not have learning differences, so I cannot comment on this subject as to the schools affectiveness. As a teacher myself (at another school) I can say that when a student has an IEP for learning disabilities, a school with a classroom and/or teacher dedicated to just students with IEPs is best for the student. Someone trained to work with disabilities, along with the child working with that person all day everyday, is what will benefit the child most. This is especially the case in middle and upper school. Most private schools do not have this ability.

My daughter has attended Veritas for 8 years and started in kindergarten. I am also a teacher at another school so curriculum was extremely important to me when selecting a school. Veritas has the best curriculum for developing a student who is a critical thinker and leader while also being well rounded with exposure to art, theatre, band, kinetics, foreign language and more beginning in the lower school. The staff has always been caring, and if I had questions the teachers and administration have always communicated with me with an immediate response to my questions. I owe the Veritas curriculum and teachers all the praise for my daughters high PSAT score this year. I dont believe my daughter would be where she is today academically if she had not attended Veritas for her education. One of the beautiful things about the teachers at the school, is that when a class is not fully comprehending a concept, the teachers actually take the time to go back and reteach to ensure students understand. Veritas has been a positive experience for our family for the past 8 years.

VCA develops strong character in her students through a good variety of approaches. One of the best and most effective approach is VCA hires many outstanding leaders like Mark Keating and Dale Rucker and Maria Elgut and Nancy. VCA hires many excellent Teachers, including their music and Art and Dance teachers. These teachers and coaches lead their student team to compete with their peer schools and lead them to one success after another. These teams are strong and brave and they dare to challenge much bigger and stronger teams and win the games.

Mark Keating and Sean Elgut are both effective leaders and they go beyond to their own jobs and often stay late after the school is over in order to take care of the school matters. VCA is growing and these leaders work very hard to make sure things are done on time.

Bullying is not allowed and least tolerated here in VCA. Whenever this occurs, the top administrators shall meet with parents and teachers and find the best possible approach to deal with it.

I enjoyed referring many families to send their kids here to study. All of the students I have referred to study here are getting positive feedbacks to me and they get into top universities like UVA and NYU and Va Tech and Penn State. I highly recommend VCA to all of parents I know as a parent.

Both Teachers and Administrators monitor student homework and meet with parents and guardians often to make sure homework is done within the time allowed in good quality.

Teachers here are well selected and highly qualified. They prepare their lessons very diligently and show outstanding professionalism teaching their students. Teachers care for their students from the bottom of the hearts.

Fantastic Families and Students; Dynamic Faculty and Administration. Leadership and training up Scholars are the highest priorities of the school. The school has an awesome international community, with students from China, Korea, Thailand, Spain, Taiwan, and Japan, and is a community unlike any other school in the area. Its truly a school where we want our children, global and multicultural, exactly where the Church should be today, and it does so without sacrificing its Christian faith and values. We have been here for a number of years, and will continue until our daughter graduates. Bravo to the administration, for stepping out in faith, and following through with all their vision: A brand new campus!!! We love it! Thank you!!

Veritas has always had the best faculty. This year, they have added so much, including a new arts program, personal training, as well as TOEFL and ESL.

Great balance of school and homework. Upper school students are given a bell a day, called Colloquy, to get work done so that they may participate in extra-curricular activities.

The school has a very disciplined honor code and high expectations put upon student character.

Veritas has provided an excellent education for all of my children. It's a very warm and loving, yet academically rich and spiritually sound. My children have all been educated at Veritas, and all have very sound reasoning skills, rigorous academic skills, yet a firm belief of who they are in Christ. The school has managed to be academically rigorous, College Prep, yet without compromising their faith. The school is not perfect by any means, but who is. They do the best they can with what they have, and thats a Lot! I am very proud of the school, and look forward to see what God has for it ion the future. My children are all the better for it!

I have been attending Veritas from sincere ninth grade and am now a Senior at the school. The feeling of community and family at Veritas is amazing, I feel as if my class is my family. The headmaster, Mr. Elgut and Director, Mr. Keating, can be seen around any corner and are open to discussions about any problem you may have with the school and will address them as they deem fit. They are also found at many of the sporting events cheering for the students. The teachers are most certainly academic, but still love you. They expect the absolute best from you and will go out of their way, staying after school and during lunch to help you grasp the concepts. We are taught to think for ourselves, but in a way that still glorifies God. I cannot think of a single class in which we do not discuss how God pertains to that subject, including math! Overall, Veritas is a very well rounded school that has changed my life for the better. I know the administration is seeking a new facility for the future, and pray our Lord meets thief needs. Simply put, this is a great school!

I am a public school teacher and a product of public schools. If you are considering a private school, I can use this forum to tell you why I believe Veritas is an exceptional choice. My daughter has been going there since first grade. Mrs. Powers and Miss Vinson are wonderful! Mr. Keating is the best swimming coach in the world! If you are looking for a Christian school that has a staff who will encourage your child to achieve their best, this is the school for you. At Veritas, they will be academically challenged, but not left behind due to their small sized classes. These children are constantly exposed to clear Christian values. This small dedicated staff and parents have produced elaborate musicals such as Guys and Dolls and Fiddler on the Roof. Have no doubt, your child WILL be exposed to the arts unlike so many other schools. Carolyn Venable is most amazing art teacher who knows how to elicit any talent your child might have. The Elguts are a married couple with five children who founded this school with a vision that they have managed to make a reality due to their faith, reputation, and love for the Veritas "family."

we are very happy at veritas. we love the administration and teachers , and the students are very good children. we have two boys and one girl at veritas and they love it. in response to the comment about why teachers don't come back, many not only have come back, they've done so for years. some have to leave because of spouses getting jobs out of state or many other normal reasons of life. we are a better family as a result of the huge blessing of the lord having brought us here. this school is a great investment into the future of our children. we highly recommend veritas. i've known many of the parents, teachers, and administrators for years. we are a relatively new family here of just two years, and the veritas family has fully embrased us

Excellent school! My children have been attending for many years. We have had our children at another school in the area, and was very disappointed at the level of education compared to Veritas. This is not just a high level education, but one which is genuinely Christ-centered. The administration practices what they preach, and walk in Christ through all they do. We as parents at Veritas love the school, and eagerly look forward to their new campus next year.
