Students have support from an advisor to help with anything needed in their school experience. The teaching and counseling staff support the students in their academics. There are numerous clubs so each student can find others with similar interest.

As a parent, choosing GWUOHS has been one of the best decisions we've made for our family. We wanted a school that offered both academic rigor and flexibility, and it has exceeded our expectations.

The teachers are knowledgeable, supportive, and genuinely invested in their students' success. Communication has been outstanding - we always know how our child is progressing, and questions are answered quickly. Our child has been challenged academically while also receiving individualized support when needed.

One of the things we appreciate most is the sense of community. Even though the school is online, our child has built meaningful relationships with teachers and classmates through live classes, clubs, and school events. The college counseling and academic advising have also been exceptional, helping our family feel confident about preparing for college.

GWUOHS has given our child the flexibility to pursue extracurricular interests without sacrificing a high-quality education. We couldn't be happier with our experience and would highly recommend this school to families looking for a rigorous, supportive, and student-centered online learning environment.

I have loved my time with GWUOHS! The teachers and staff are very knowlegeable and kind. There are a ton of clubs to join, and the teachers consistently got us to engage in discussions together. This has been the perfect experience for a virtual school. Highly recommend!

Main purpose of this school is to prepare kids for colleges. As far as I can tell, teachers and advisors in this school DO their job very well. Yes, there is a lot of homework, projects sometimes require extensive studies and an effort to complete. However, studying in colleges is tough too. In my opinion, this school keep education standards high - where they should be. My child can get support from the teachers at almost any time (except late night hours, probably:)). Advisors are very helpful and knowledgeable. This school has a lot of clubs - art, chess, math, foreign languages, writing club, etc.
When I ask my child if she wants to go back to public school, the answer was - "no, I want to stay at GWUOHS" , my child never had any problem at the public school (bulling or something like that). Overall, I highly recommend this school.

I have been at this school for over three years, and I absolutely love it. The teachers are always available and super supportive. The school has excellent academics but also has a great opportunity for clubs, extracurriculars, student interactions, and programs that make it a well-connected environment. Even though my peers are spread out across the United States and the world, I have great connections and some of the best friendships I've ever had!

There is a difference between rigor and a ridiculous amount of work, but GWU OHS does not seem to understand that parents have signed up for rigor and do not desire to see their bright and motivated students get crushed by a never ending torrent of graded work. It is two months into the year and students have stopped participating in clubs and live classes because they must spend countless hours just keeping up (getting ahead would be impossible). We regret enrolling our child here and would caution against believing any of the hype about flexibility or rigor! It might be fine for a kid who does nothing but study all day, every day, but it is a terrible choice for well-rounded students that they are attempting to attract!

My son has spent 8th and 9th grade at GWUOHS. His advanced classes are always guaranteed, and they allow for dual enrollment as he moves towards graduation. The average college scholarship package for graduating seniors last year was $107,000. GWUOHS has allowed my kid to focus on school and does not have to worry about the in-person drama of 1200 other students. We also took 2021 to pick up and travel during the school year, and visit Asia while the US was in lock down. No school is perfect, and its important to find the fit that works for you. GWUOHS was our backup plan, and with the aid of hindsight, it ended up being the perfect solution.

I would not recommend this school at all. I came to this school in freshman year as a bright, gifted child, and I feel as if this school has taken my love for learning away. The advising system was better when there were fewer students, and the school has not figured out how to accommodate the large influx of students that it received from Covid. Now, I feel like I have no support at all. The academics at this school are not what they claim to be. They follow the same curriculum as all other K12/Stride schools, which was definitely a disappointment. There are definitely a few good teachers here, but many of these teachers don't seem to care much. The school administration definitely favors a select few individuals over people that actually work hard. I feel as if the opportunities that I deserve have been taken away from me just because other students have parents that will suck up to administration.

Please remove your students feom this school. We pulled out my son after his third year at GWUOHS. It was very heartbreaking for my kid because after all his hardwork, GWUOHS gave him an F for his final grade. They said that they couldn't find his school work on the system. They even had him redo all his work last summer but the school still gave him an F. The teachers at his current school are sad because he might not be able to gradauate this year due to missing credits. They can't believe that someone who tops the State Assesessment Tests and is on top of his class won't be able to graduate. Please beware of this school!!! Whoever is managing the online system made a big mess last January!!!

We chose this school to accommodate high academic standards and high level in sport. IÂ’m not going to lie, there were tears a few times from my straight A student as she got used to the online learning and curriculum. She trains in her sport approximately 30 hours per week while maintaining a 90 or above in all Honors classes. I believe this is totally attainable for any kid who is willing to put in the work and stay on task. She loves the flexibility that she has with her classes but has also learned to manage her time properly to assure she remains on task and on schedule with her assignments. There are are countless resources to help out i.e, Subject specific Help desks, school and college counselor, clubs and school participation activities to engage in if your student chooses to do so. Yes, there have been a few glitches along the way but if you keep an open mind and your student is adaptable they will most likely enjoy the offerings this school has.

Our son has attended GWUOHS since the 8th grade. We have had an amazing experience with this school. He will graduate next year-a year early. He has had fabulous and attentive teachers/counselors, and he is easily prepared for the rigor and the writing requirements needed to succeed in college. We highly recommend GWUOHS!

We enrolled 2 of our 4 kids in this school and we are VERY disappointed. The AP calculus teacher told the 3 students in her class that they couldn't ask any questions during class. Many of the teachers are not adept at online teaching, and are not very familar with the K12 program that the school uses. A few teachers are great, but that doesn't make up for the other problems and deficiencies. Submitted by a parent
