We have two kids (2nd grade and KG) at London Towne and both kids love the Spanish immersion program. The teachers are doing an amazing job and so far there is nothing to complain. Communication between parents and teachers is great too.

Both of my two children (4th grade, 1st grade currently) attend school here in the Spanish immersion program. My eldest has been at the school since 1st grade and has developed full spanish comprehension. My experience of the school has been nothing short of excellent. My younger child has attended here since Kindergarten, and has had wonderful teachers and great class experiences.

I think the school's lower rating on this site has more to do with lack of action taken by happy parents to leave a review. Every parent I know whose child attends is happy with the school. I have recommended families to enroll their child in the immersion program, and they did. They are VERY happy with sending their son to the school.

I spoke to two families I knew personally before sending my children whose children had attended London Towne. They gave me glowing reviews of the school - including how much it helped their children to develop their Spanish language skills. I am very enthusiastic about this school.

I feel there needs to be more positive reviews about this school! Our family has LOVED it. We enrolled our daughter starting in 1st grade for the Spanish immersion and she has REALLY flourished in her Español.

I had received great recommendations from two other parents of students (two separate families) who I knew personally. Both of them had nothing but good things to say about the school - very contrary to the harsh reviews! My first impression was and remains to be after many school events, that every staff member, from the awesome principal Padmore, certainly all of the teachers my daughter has had in her 1.5 years, even the librarians and 'specials' teachers - ALL REALLY care about the students.

My daughter came home after just 2 months of her first year at LTES and told me "I love speaking Spanish". I was overjoyed. We are excited for our son to begin his immersion journey next year in Kindergarten.

Note: My daughter has experienced some bullying/meanness, but it has been from only one child. I do feel that the teachers and the administration have taken it seriously and helped the situation. I feel that the school and administration have a proactive, constructive approach to bullying and conflict resolution. I have not seen anyone take it lightly or dismiss it EVER as some reviews have suggested. Perhaps those reviews are just outdated??

A lot of bullying in this school even from teachers! Do not put your child in this school. I was concern for the hateful and horrible messages sent by one of my daughters classmates. I was worried about my daughter’s safety. The school took it like it wasn’t a big deal. The principal said kids only talk but at the end of the day they don’t really do nothing bad to the other kids. They do hurt other kids emotionally and mentally with their words!!! And it is worst when they team up agains the good kids. Bullying is something normal in that school. Horrible experience for my daughter! Thank God I was able to transfer my daughter to another school and she is doing great! She loves that school. Nice and healthy environment not toxic like in London Towne.

I was surprised about some of the negative reviews of this school. My son attended the Spanish Language Immersion tract at London Towne ES. We were so pleased with most of his teachers, his learning, SACC, extra curricular courses. He may have encountered some kids that were not so well mannered or bullying but he learned from those experiences and there was nothing out of the ordinary. Now,my 2nd child is attending 2022 and my child loves this school and so do we. Teachers, Principal, and administrative staff have been amazing.

Some children are very rude to adults. I am very doubtful that they teach kids manner and moral. Probably the parents of those rude kids are terrible too.

I was a parent of three London Towne students, each with totally different learning abilities. Each of my students received the services they needed to grow and learn in a positive environment. Yes the school has issues, but what school doesn't? This community has seen a huge turn over in ethnicity and economic changes that have effected the participation of its parents. Leaving more of the extra curricular work to be done by the staff and a hand full of parents. This lack of parent participation is one of the main reasons there are problems at schools. You cannot expect a teacher to raise your child! You have to do that at HOME, and then enforce those values outside of the home. You have to be involved in their daily life, know their school friends and families. You can only do that by being an active participant in your child's school life. Go in for lunch, attend a PTA meeting, concert, family events, anything and everything to know your community. By doing this you will see a decline in bullying, you will see the teachers in a different environment, you will see that they do care about your child and that they do want the exact same things you want for him/her. Remember that it takes a village to raise a child, let's be that village!

We transferred from another school district to London Towne and my child was hesitant and concerned about making new friends. I explained this is an opportunity to meet new people and to grow as an individual. I wish I had been more prepared of what to expect...
I have been horrified by what my child has told me regarding the behavior of other kids at this school. Fighting, bullying, teasing, body shaming, lack of interest in studies. The list goes on and on.
There are a few teacher who seem to really want to make a difference but clearly they are not getting the support they need. This needs to be escalated. I have taken it up with the office in the past but it seems to just go no where. The issue is bigger than a few incidents, its the environment and culture.

I've reviewed other comments and I must say the ones that mention bullying as an issue are spot on. There is a BIG problem within the school that needs to be addressed. It's toxic, and sadly the children who are well behaved are called "teacher's pet" and left out by the other children who think its cool to make fun of kids who want to excel academically and be good citizens.

My grandson has an IEP emotional regulation. The support system at the school is helping him learn to cope with his emotions. I couldn't be more pleased with the caring environment at LTES. He loves to read and write, and is only in 1st grade.

Worst school ever! My son went to this school starting 2001. It is all about the elite kids and do nothing for the troubled kids in this school. Good well mannered kids get abused. My son is doing well in collage thank you very much.

London Towne is an outstanding school that I cannot say enough good things about. It is a culturally diverse school, with a great Spanish immersion program. My daughter has an IEP for reading (decoding) issues and they have been wonderful putting in place services and accommodations for her to succeed. The staff really care about the kids. I was pleasantly surprised when they started pulling my daughter for Advanced Academic (AAP Level 3) services, recognizing that she is Twice Exceptional. Her self confidence blossomed. The kiss and ride is pretty bad, but they are doing a better job of managing pedestrian and car traffic.

From an academic perspective the school did great with our son who was behind with reading. The issue is that certain teachers have no clue how to deal with parents. Our sons teacher and the principal on several occasions stated they were not used to involved parents. How is this even a thing? As a professional you don't know how to deal with the parents?

My wife had down time during the year from work so she was able to participate in some of the organized activities and the teachers were very short, truculent and treated the adults like the 7 years olds they manage.

On the last trip our teacher even had some unkind words that were personnel in nature.

We are moving from the area and could not wait for the school year to end. Such a horrible experience.

This school is a total disaster. There is a huge bullying problem in the school and the teachers and administrators ignore it. The education is also subpar. They are too busy trying to control the kids than actually educate anyone.

I'm proud of this school. My daughter is on IEP. The special education is on point. The special education teachers and Speech pathologist have their degrees in the related field and a lot of experience. My daughter is in kindergarten. I would have anxiety thinking my daughter would have issues learning due to her developmental delay. However, 2 months after kindergarten she started to read at grade level and she is currently solving math problems. The kindergarten teacher has 30 years plus of experience and I'm so happy with the system in place the school has. When it comes to activities, and other programs, teachers and parents work together to make it work and we all have fun. They also offer the immersion program. I'm surprised this school has such a low rating in this website. My experience is super positive.

I'd say this is a "so-so" school compared to other elementary schools in Fairfax County. Our daughter had no issues while attending this school but it just didn't seem to be the same caliber as other elementary schools in the general area.

The school is wonderful but if you use the kiss and ride it's an absolute nightmare. There are people Jay walking right by the traffic light cutting across the people actu ally following the rules and noone out there to takes control of the situation. Even the police officer at the cross walk ignores the people doing u turns across traffic right next to a busy intersection.

London Towne has excellent teachers, Strong Principal and leadership, Friendly office staff they are very patient and friendly even with the most difficult and angry parent I was at the main office when one of the moms enter storming in to the office yelling and screaming her head out the lades knew how to handle that difficult situation. I'm glad that I'm not working in at school because I don't have the patient to deal with difficult parents.

They are not enough friendly staff in office and it seems the old age staff does not have patient to listen to parents or visitors. They need to replace with young people.

London Towne seems like an overall good school with an overall friendly student, staff and parent population, excellent kid-centric academic and extracurricular activities. However, very poor communication skills demonstrated by a lead admin. The main factor underlying my concern is that when a legitimate, time sensitive concern related to the emotional well being of my child was communicated in a democratic and solution oriented manner, there was an automatically defensive and almost angry response. Rather than aknowleging the reason for the call and responding to hopes for improvement in my child's behavioral developement as well as hopes for mutual understanding between my 5 year old and her teacher, lead staff attempted to blame and later deflect with 'it has been a very difficult week for us as educators'. As a parent, I can only hope there will be change for the better, but given this horrible experience, I am concerned.

My daughter just graduated from 6th grade at LT and was in the Spanish Immersion Program. She loved the school and made many great friends. The school has a small town feeling about it. Her teacher for both 5th and 6th grade was Sr Acuna. He was by far her favorite teacher. Not only did he challenge her academically, but taught the children valuable life lessons. We hope to have another Sr Acuna type teacher in the future!

I went to this school I graduated in the year 2008-09. I have to say those 7 years have been amazing I have a lot of fond memories of LT. Being in Spanish Immersion I was really close to my classmates. Sometimes LT wasn't the best at teaching. I had a little difficulty on my science sol 8th grade year due to the lack of science teaching at London Towne ( I still managed to receive a 528 a pass advanced) Sure some of the teachers aren't the best but there're really some exceptional teachers Sr. Acuana for intense he was my 6th grade teacher was amazing I learned so much more from his class then just academics ( I was in compacted math that year) Sr. Acuana who I consider the treasure of LT gave us life lessons,kindness and actually cared for his students. We would always have a good time in that class. GT program is great! It prepared me so much for my honor classes. PE with Mr. Birdge is amazing a lot of parents have kids who complain about PE but those kids don't attend LT where every student looks forward to gym class. On the last day of LT career I was in tears. I love LT so much that every chance I get I try to volunteer there. Go Lions!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We have had children at this school for the past 7 yrs. When we first transferred (reluctantly) in from a private Christian school, we were guarded, having heard nightmare stories about public shools. At that time, we were very impressed. The past 2 years have made us move back to the guarded category, although, frankly, we are done at LTES this year. I have seen recent evidence pointing toward teacher burnout, and administration inability to respond effectively to concerns. This school is headed for trouble.

As a parent, I have noticed low expectations in the academic area as well. I have plans of bringing this to the attention of the principal who in my opinion is not that engaging... but I'll try nonetheless.
