The students were all just troubled kids trying to find their place in the world, dealing with problems highschools can't typically help with. Except in this case. The teachers at this school are the only reasons I was able to graduate highschool at all, and they provided so much helpful, useful information that actually helped me in my adult life. Being an alternative school, they don't have a sports team or social events, but what they lack in grandiose, they fully make up for in intrigue. From a garage band class, to in-depth art courses, and a shop class, family economics, and computer and financial management classes that actually teach scholars how to budget and manage their money, teaches them financial jargon, and helps them navigate the complex adult world in a digestible way. All in all, I loved this place and the experiences I had while attending.

Walking in the school feels like you are going to visit an inmate at a jail.
Your will end up going to jail at some point due to the school resource staff not having proper de-escalating training or common sense.
The principal gets lost in his office, he’s never seen. The AP’s are better suited for that title.

The school is a disaster and the suspension/expulsion rate for this school is bonkers!

I can say with certainty, if you have a child special needs child I would not consider this option if given.

If I had the chance in the beginning and the resources, I would have taken my child out of there and kept him out.

This has to be one of the worst schools in Virginia, I can't believe this school is still even open. The staff here are all miserable and never seem to give any help. They are terrible with the children here and I'll definitely will be taking this situation to the superintendent. Enough with the talking!

the was that he faculty and staff and this school act is absolutely disgusting, they are always so rude so condescending, and they always catch attitudes with the students and expect the students to be the bigger person. they dont listen to anyone but each other everything is last minute. they get in the students faces, cuss at and with them, and say the nastiest things with no repercussions.

Renaissance Academy has turned my child around! The teachers treat him like an adult and not a child. He is thriving there after being removed from his home school. I have never had teachers call to tell me my son was "a great student" and "a pleasure to teach" until he was attending Renaissance.
