EXCELLENT! We will be hard-pressed to find another learning environment as spectacular and warm as The Compass School! From day one, we have loved everything about their programs, facilities, faculty, and staff. Though obviously running a business, it only ever feels like a space for learning, growth, exploration, friends and family. We will miss his teachers, caretakers, and friends tremendously.

I cannot say enough wonderful things about the Compass School. My son started here in Kindergarten (full day with extended hours to meet the needs of working parents) and he's flourished. His reading and writing skills have increased dramatically, but more importantly, I love how his teacher and the rest of the staff focus on the whole child. They look to help the children grow in social, creative, physical, and academic areas. My son now asks to paint and draw when he comes home instead of watch TV and he's so proud of the words he can read from his favorite books. As a public school teacher, I would honestly enroll him for 1st grade in Compass if they offered it. We could not be happier!!

Great and reliable school! Our daughter switched to the Compass School when she was 18 months old. The transition was seamless and we credit the teachers and staff at the Compass School for making it so easy for all of us. The teachers are caring and engaged, leading the class in daily arts and crafts projects and other learning activities. Our daughter loves going in every day and we can tell she is really blossoming there. Their hours are convenient (opens early, which is big for us) and reliable. We plan on being with them through kindergarten and for after school care beyond that.

We had our daughter at the Compass School for the past 7 months and she absolutely loves going there. She adores her teachers, and all the directors. The school is very clean, organized and generally very well run. Ms. Maggie is absolutely wonderful and so are all the front desk ladies. They are very accommodating with our ever changing schedule, very kind and understanding. I love their focus on play and fun activities. Some teachers are familiar with Conscious Discipline, which I find very exciting and encouraging. I would definitely recommend Compass.

We've had our daughter at Compass for a little over 6 months. We started her in the infant room and she has just transitioned into the toddler room. The teachers are patient and loving and the directors are absolutely wonderful! We are positive this is the right place for our daughter to be and that she is in the best hands. Just a few of the things we love besides the awesome staff: part time flexibility, daily newsletters, weekly take home journals, open communication with the entire staff, great focus on the arts and warm, nurturing environment!

The leadership at Compass in Ashburn have done a great job hiring and motivating great teachers. Having multiple students at the school, we feel they are learning and expanding their education every day. They are open with communication with us regarding our children's development. We would recommend Compass with no reservation.

Our daughter has been at The Compass School for a year and we are very happy. The level of communication is terrific. We get a daily email newsletter and a weekly take-home journal with photographs from activities they have worked on during the week. The teachers tell me about her day when I pick her up and I see either the assistant director or the director in the morning or evening. They are always quick to answer any questions. We love how friendly the teachers and staff are and how involved they are in the community....and with bringing entertainment and activities to The Compass School.

Finding the right environment, leadership, and curriculum for your child can be a daunting task for any parent considering placing their child in full-time/ or part-time childcare. This was exceptionally daunting for me and my husband because I was a stay at home mom for a while with my daughter. When looking for the right environment, leadership, and curriculum for your child, The Compass School, is matchless! Our daughter began attending Compass at close to a year and a half, and she LOVES IT! On our tour, our daughter walked up Mrs. Maggie, hugged her and other teachers and staff, ventured out on her own, and was in discovery mode. The school has a great staff of teachers, and she adores them. Mrs. Maggie, and Mrs. Diana pride themselves on putting the children, and their needs first, but also making sure that their staff is well taken care of. For any parent who is considering where to put their child, The Compass School is a great choice as your child will thrive, and have fun doing it!

We have nothing but good things to say about The Compass School. We put our daughter in at 2 years old having never been in a school setting and they were, and continue to be, so warm and welcoming. All of the teachers are wonderful and we especially love how we feel like a part of a family there. The teachers send daily updates with pictures as to what the children have done that day in the classroom so the parents know exactly what their children are learning that day. Our daughter has blossomed since being in the Compass School and would recommend this school to anyone!

Compass has a fantastic process for involving the children in generating their curriculum as they go. I feel my son is in great hands. In addition, when my son had some behavioral issues, the staff at Compass were incredibly understanding and supportive of our efforts to help him learn how to act in social situations.

The Compass School has been an excellent choice for our three-year old son. Inquiry-based learning happens through play and imagination and creativity are promoted through activities that are guided by his teacher, but selected based on the interests of the group or class. The facilities are the perfect blend of comfortable and fun with interesting and educational. They focus on fostering independence with life skills like dressing, putting on shoes, etc. in addition to teaching social skills by modeling respect for others. The staff is responsive and attentive to both children and parents. We receive daily updates of class activities and individual updates in a journal. In the few months he has been at Compass, we have noticed remarkable positive leaps in his independence, curiosity and questioning and his strong bond that he has formed with his teachers and his peers. For the first time ever, he wanted to stay and play rather than come home!

In a word, AWESOME! We have a 6 yr old at Compass. She is your typical little girl, though challenged by learning disabilities and delays that have hampered her social growth. We have had her in 3 prior child care centers in Loudoun. Each with overwhelmed staff and underwhelming programs. Compass is different, you feel it right away. The staff, all staff, are warm, professional & attentive. I Love the unique structure that includes activity rooms like the Art Studio and Nature Center. We have been there for over 6 months now and our daughter is loving it so much that I have days where she does not want to leave. They have an active summer camp program filled with field trips of quality and interest, like the National Museum of Art, The Spy Museum and National Aquarium. You definitely get your money's worth. And, let's face it, when you can relax in the knowledge that your child is well cared for and HAPPY, no cost is too high. Not that Compass is so expensive, it is comparable. Actually less than I paid for previous centers with less nurturing and nature to offer. I hope this helps others discover this wonderful school!

The Compass School is such a fantastic place! My 19 month old son has been there for 3 months now, and I am so impressed with both the teachers and directors. The Compass School fosters an environment of learning that focuses on the children's interests, which engages the toddlers and enhances learning. Their teaching units are so creative and fun; every day is an adventure for the children! I receive daily highlight emails with pictures and a summary of my son's exciting day, and a weekly journal that also includes pictures of the activities of the week. The Compass School is such an amazing place; I am so thrilled with the staff, and I am so happy my son is part of their family.

I have a 3yr old at Compass and couldn't be happier. Last year at another preschool, it was a struggle every single day to leave her there each morning for the entire year. Needless to say I had many concerns as we looked at new schools for the Fall of 2013. The communication between Maggie (Exec Dir) and Diana (Asst Dir) is excellent. They kept everyone on the same page with my situation. They were very knowledgeable and professional and were able to put my mind at ease with their ideas for a smooth transition. My daughter has been happy since her very first day here. Her teacher is FANTASTIC. She is so creative and loving that my daughter looks forward to going to school. She has learned so much more than what you get with a traditional coloring, cutting and pasting program. We look forward to the daily highlights that are emailed chronicling the day s activities. The entire staff has been very friendly and I appreciate the way they accommodate needs. The overall environment is very comfortable, open and clean. I drive across town 20 minutes passing several other preschools on the way to bring my daughter to Compass. It s worth the trip.

The Compass School is excellent! My son is 3 years old and when he joined Compass, it was his first time being in anyone's care other than mine, my husband or his grandparents. He had separation anxiety at first, but the staff at Compass could not be more nurturing and loving. He took an instant liking to the Director, Ms. Maggie, and she was there to greet him each morning, check-in on him during the day, and read him books when he was having a "miss mommy" moment. Miss Maggie is extremely hands-on with the children and visits each classroom regularly. My son's teacher is amazing! I could write paragraphs of superlatives for her. Her energy is what gets my attention the most. Her classroom environment generates enthusiasm, encourages the imagination, and creates learning adventures. Each day's activities are documented in photos and a journal that are emailed to the parents daily. The school is extremely welcoming. Every staff member knows my son's name and acknowledges him when they see him. Family members are invited to observe and participate in the classroom any time they want.

We have an almost 2 y/o son who has been in attendance for a little over 6 months. The Compass School is by far one of his most favorite places to be at. The compound is clean, the staff is knowledgeable, and the leadership allows for a very flexible attendance schedule. We receive daily emails with photos of the activities taking place in his class, which allows parents/guardians to connect with what their kids are doing. I highly recommend this institution, and can assure you that your child/children will be well taken care of.

I have one child that recently turned one and another that is three years old.Just for a quick background, we left our last daycare for many reasons including lack of teachers actually teaching (more like babysitting)and my 3 year old having a break downs every time we walked into the school. I knew it was time to find a new school, we did a lot of research and visited a lot of schools but as soon as we spoke with Ms. Maggie and Ms. Diana, met the teachers and saw the high standard they hold for their school our decision was made. Our 3 year old LOVES going to school now. He has advanced so much in just the short time since we have started at the school, his personality is now calm again, he has learned so much including his letters, how to spell his name, this list could go on and he has only been there for 2 months! My one year old has been thriving as well, under the love and guidance provided by his teachers. As a working mother I finally feel that my kids are in an environment that will let them thrive and grow in a wonderful and exciting school. I love getting the journals about my child at the end of the week and the daily newsletters in my email about what they did that day

This is a school with great teachers and quality facility. My son has been attending the after-school program since last Fall. Every teacher knows his name and greets him as soon as he walks through the door. My son's room is engaging with activities which are educational and fun. He has a great teacher who is clearly proud of his own classroom. My son is often reluctant to leave when we pick him up because he is just having so much fun. The director is super friendly with plenty of experience. All in all, we are very happy with the school.

Our daughter have been going to Compass school since she was 5 months old and we love the teachers in Navigator class. They are very caring and have been taking a great care of our daughter.

Being a first time Mom, I was a little nervous as all new Moms are about putting her infant in someone else's care. I was completely reassured after my daughters first week at Compass, and knew she was in good hands. It is nice to know that at pick up and drop off time that everyone knows her name even the teachers are are not hers. Contrary to previous posts, any time my child has been sick I have been notified immediately and made aware of the situation. After looking around at schools it is nice to know that her teachers have degrees and are educators and not just babysitters. even though my daughter is an infant the teachers still complete projects with her to stimulate her senses.

My kids have been in the summer camp program and are currently enrolled in the after school program. My only issue is getting them in the car to come home! They have so much fun, the facility is clean, and they get one-on-one individualized attention. Never have my kids been in an after school program where the teacher helps them with their homework and studying for tests. And if you are a two-parent working household, you will appreciate this a great deal. Many programs sell this added little bonus but don't really deliver. It's comforting to me that my kids' education continues into after school and they are having fun too. They love Mr. Jeff and Mrs. Maggie and have made many friends at Compass. If you appreciate this blend of care for your children, then you should consider Compass.

As a first time parent I was very nervous leaving my infant daughter in someone else's care for the first time. The staff at The Compass School helped me feel confident that my daughter was well cared for while I was at work. The teachers always listen to my/ and my daughters needs when we come in in the mornings and always have fun stories to share about her day at pick- up time. They are always available to answer any questions I have, and are very flexible and helpful working with me to try new routines as my daughter grows. The daily highlights that are emailed keep me posted on what's going on in the classroom during the day and her journal is such a nice record of all the milestones she is meeting as she grows up (super nice for me since I never started her baby book). I never expected to see my little girl participate in so many fun experiences, but even in the infant room the babies are finger painting, playing with play-dough and clay and exploring a variety of other activities. I couldn't be happier with my experience at The Compass School.

The teachers are excellent - kind, caring and creative. The activities they do are not just educational they are creative and engaging. The school is brand new and sparkling clean. We use to attend another local childcare program and my son never wanted to go. At Compass School he ask to go on are off days (we are PT). Can't say enough good things about the school.

This is a brand new school in the Ashburn area. I rated the Parent Involvement at medium because we are all just getting started. I know this will change in the future! The Director has years of experience with early education and the staff is amazing. Everyone is incredibly nice, flexible, and listens to you as a parent. The teachers are HAPPY! The quality of education is over the top! Even the infants are learning something new every day. The after-school care children have one on one attention when needed to complete homework. Its so nice knowing your child is getting the help they need, their homework done, and can have a stress-free evening with family. The little extra things are great too. The teachers introduce new experiences with music, nature, animals, all kinds of things. I'm amazed nearly every day when I walk in to see what the kiddos have been up to. Summer camp options were fantastic.. I've never seen so many happy kids that WANTED to go back the next day and WANTED to stay longer each day. Daily reports concerning your child are accurate! Daily emailed highlights of your child's activities are awesome, they even include pictures of your child in action!

Our daughter has been at Compass for about three months now, and Compass has exceeded every expectation that I have had. The class rooms are very inviting and are set up purposely for kids to explore. Both Mrs. Maggie and Mrs. Diana have been amazing at answering all of my questions and most of all; they make me feel at ease, even when I've asked my 100th question of the week. They always assure me that I m just a normal Mom asking normal Mom questions. Now that my daughter has transitioned into the kindergarten enrichment program, Ms. Sara has been so amazing with helping my daughter explore all sorts of projects and topics. I receive a daily email that includes pictures and an overview of my daughter s day. As a working Mom, this is something that I look forward to everyday. On Fridays, they send home a weekly journal. This a good communication starter with my daughter, it will be a treasured keepsake. I It amazes me on all the ways that they come up with to explore the world. I can't express enough how happy we are with Compass, the education and facility are fantastic, and most importantly our daughter loves it there!!
