This school has no clue what is going on ever within the student body. My special needs son has a bus he takes, we get told there’s an app for it. Cool.

Bus is late, get to Aldrin, report it. Get a snide response from the secretary going “that’s a transportation problem” as if students not making it to class is a big deal. Strike 1.

Other me secretary tells me “yeahh we dont know when the busses are delayed and we rely on parents to report this.”

Strikes 2 and 3. You not only don’t know, but you rely on people who also don’t know whats going on to report on it? Where is the logic? Is this place run by mice in tutus? Seems so.

Secretary in closing out right states “yeah for some reason this bus driver never reported a delay”

What the heck? So these drivers can just muck off?

Great school for white. Everyone else is pretty much overlooked. They don't realize is but there is implicit racial bias by most staff members. They assume non-white means not educated.

My son attended Aldrin for seven years (grades K to 6). There are great teachers at Aldrin, especially those that have been there for a while: Ms. Bullen, Mr. Woodring, Mr. O'Day, Ms. Smith, and Ms. Hansen. My son learned a lot with each of them! I'd say kids get a high-quality education at Aldrin. However, some of the best teachers retired already (e.g., Ms. Ward, Ms. Jaeschke, or Ms. Crittenden) or are about to retire. I gave only 4 stars because I think the school needs improvement in terms of equity. If you want your kids to be placed with good teachers, you need to work hard for it if you are not White or have an accent. For example, not many students of certain minoritized racial groups end up in the AAP program. I know, because my son was the only one of a certain racial background attending the AAP program full-time. If you are a parent of color or immigrant or both at Aldrin, be ready to be a strong advocate for your child!

As a former teacher and reading specialist I would highly recommend this school. My two grandchildren are students here and I hear from my daughter about the excellence of this school. The teachers are dedicated and go above and beyond. My grandchildren love this school and take great pride in being a part of the student body here! Thank you to the administration and all the teachers and staff for making this school such a wonderful place for learning!

A fantastic school with a lot of positive outreach to ESL students. They go above and beyond to bridge the gap between lower income students and the broader student body.

I have yet to meet a teacher at this school who doesn't give 110% every day. They love their students and try many techniques to find that magic trick that reaches their student.

principal and vice principals are wonderful. They go above and beyond, making sure that the needs of all, even the less priviledged, are met. They are all heart.

For slow learners in English, this school is discouraging by constantly pointing out their weaknesses instead of teaching them in the right way .

The principal has made Aldrin a loving and inclusive environment. He implemented a program to encourage the students to identify positive characteristics in others. This helps them identify diversity as a positive thing and it helps them be more compassionate.

Aldrin encourages reading every night for 30 minutes rather than formal homework. This means parents reading to their kids and kids reading to their parents until the kids are reading independently.

The kindergarten teachers and their assistants are amazing. We couldn’t have asked for better teachers. They made my daughter LOVE going to school and kept her excited about learning. They provide individual help with reading and send the kids home with level-appropriate books each week (books that the kids can read to their parents). This combined with the iReady app (available both in the classroom and online) made a big difference in my daughter become an avid reader.

We love Aldrin and I have only heard other parents praise the school, teachers, principal, etc. When I volunteer at the school, I see how happy the students, teachers, and staff are.

The teachers no doubt are absolutely professional in what they do. No yelling at kids etc,,,,treating them with respect and love yet with firm persuasion in mind

The homework is definitely not as much as it should be. They hardly got anything in homework but they would bring in many many worksheets in Thursday recorder.

Our daughter attended Kindergarten and 1st grade at Aldrin. The more I say about Aldrin and its staff the less it seems. I personally loved the school. Both the teachers were extremely welcoming and friendly. Cant really thank enough Ms Raust and Ms McBride for their wonderful teaching. Sadly we had to move out and we miss Aldrin :( We would often get to see Mr Wolfe the Principal...meaning that he just did not sit in his office but available to help out or to cheer the students when needed. My daughter and some other kids had an ice cream party with him once because they participated in some contest. As I said the more I say the less it seems. Great School !!!!

The Principal and admin set the tone for the school and although I have sent my kids to private school, this school was one I seriously considered. The kids I've talked to that go here all seem very happy about the school.

As prospective parents to Aldrin Elementary my husband and I were blown away by the welcoming approach by the admin staff, teachers and assistant principal. They were professional, provided a wealth of information and very responsive to our needs.

The school may be ok, however the curriculum is not the best. A child in 3rd grade barely gets any homework, has no books for any of the subjects, never sees their grade! How are these kids expected to learn, to improve, to grow if they are not held accountable and are not provided with necessary resources. I am very dissappointed with the school!

Aldrin Elementary is an AWESOME school! My kids love it, I love it!The faculty is like extended family. The teachers go out of their way to make sure the children understand. Mr. Wolfe and Mrs. Gist are excellent in their leadership! Mrs. Walker, the registrar, is absolutely the sweetest woman you could ever meet! The parents are extremely involved here. I am currently looking to move, but I plan to stay in the school district so that my children can stay at Aldrin.

Aldrin has been compared to a prep school based on the parent involvement, which is immense! I think there has been a HUGE improvement with the new principal, Shane Wolfe. He is highly visible, engaged with the students, and seems very committed to excellence in an extremely demanding (wealthy) North Reston environment. The administration needs to me much more respectful, aware, and transparent during the Advanced Academic selection process. Mrs. Lewis is wonderful, but there is an elitist and dismissive approach if your child is not one of the "chosen few."

Pros: VERY high parent involvement. My child started kindergarten at this school and although we moved to CA for his first grade year, it took the move to really solidify what a superb school Aldrin was for my child. I throughly enjoyed my child's teacher (Mrs. Salcedo and her TA Mrs. B) We miss them and their cheery attitude immensely. My son always felt attended to and close with the both of them. The ynurtured great friendships and really took each child into consideration for all the activities and stations. The school overall is clean, manicured and colorful. The office staff is friendly and generally knows each child. The principal (at the time) was okay, no real likes or dislikes. I enjoyed the school as well as my child but we especially enjoyed the dynamic team of Mrs. Salcedo and Mrs. B.
