I have had two kids attend Centreville Elementary School from kindergarten through sixth grade, and our experience has been nothing short of amazing. The faculty, teachers, and support staff have been incredible every step of the way. My daughter, currently in sixth grade, loves her school so much that she's sad when each school year ends, and she bonds deeply with her teachers, who make her feel supported, especially since she struggles with change.

When my son attended, he struggled with undiagnosed ADHD, and his third-grade teacher played a pivotal role in helping us recognize his needs without overstepping boundaries. Thanks to their guidance, he received the support he needed and is now thriving in middle school as a straight-A student.

Centreville’s motto, "CES is the best," truly resonates with our experience. I am so proud of the caring, nurturing environment that has helped shape my children into the wonderful individuals they are today. Principal Mr. Douds leads the school with dedication and heart. I wholeheartedly give Centreville Elementary School five stars!

However, I can’t give five stars for safety—not because of the school itself, but because of broader Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) issues. This is something I continue to fight for with the school board, as ensuring our kids’ safety should always be a priority. Despite this, the school does its best with what it can control, and I remain grateful for the support and education my children have received.

CES has greatly improved in various aspects in the past few years. My children are biracial and they’ve received tons of love, support, and acceptance in this school. I’m proud that my children attend CES.

My 7 year old son has been going here since Kindergarten, he is now in 2nd grade. He suffers from ADHD Combined and Anxiety. Plus we are a low income and homeless family. The administrators, principals and teachers have all been AMAZING. They are caring, patient and understanding. They work very hard to ensure my son feels comfortable and has all the help and tools he needs. Mr Douds has been wonderful. The school counselor is helpful and makes sure to check with me if my kids need anything I cannot afford to get ie: clothes, supplies, etc. The school has a very pleasant atmosphere and encourages the children to be kind, understanding and helpful. I have not heard of any kind of bullying here. Last year my son was with Mrs Manolaris and she did a wonderful job of helping him catch up with some of the things he needed to know but was having difficulty due to his inability to focus and sit still. I love this school.

I love CES! I moved to Fairfax County for its schools, and I feel like CES has made us a part of its family. Great administer, great teachers, great curriculum, and great programs make CES a success!

Excellent! Overall this school is like having your kids in a private school. The programs are amazing!

More consistent homework would help the students achieve better test scores.

Posted: February 21, 2020

The majority of the teachers at this school advocate, and differentiate for their students.

Posted: February 21, 2020

The councilors at this school have an open door policy. I have had a first hand experience with them helping kids navigate through the typical kid to kid social interactions which sometimes give them difficulties.

My child started at this school from kindergarten and she has been learning so much and it's so great to see her improving so much academically at early ages. Teachers are also great.

I’ve had the pleasure of working on the PTA Board this year at the school and have met many of the teachers. They are loving and caring and completely devoted to their students and really display an ambience of positivity at the school. Plus the Principal here is fantastic. Mr. Douds started with CES only a year ago and is already making great changes. Also from what I can tell, CES has low turnover rate.

Communication is key! The Principal has an open door policy and is very responsive via email. He cares about CES and it’s success and it shows in the way he communicates to the families.

I’m so happy my kids are attending CES and they love it too! They never want to miss days (even when sick) and truly love their teachers! I’m so grateful to be in this school district and also love all the community oriented activities they are involved in and love that it is one of the Nation’s top Green schools.

I’m very thankful to have both of my children at CES and completely agree with their homework policy. Homework is not given to Kindergarten-2nd grade from what I’ve seen, instead they encourage parents to read and play math games with their children which we love to do and obviously our kids love it too.

CES has provided a wonderful, positive and supportive educational experience to both of my 2 children. The teachers and administrators are very devoted to the well-being of children, families and staff. We love the sense of community that has been created from the principal (Mr. Young) all the way down to the maintenance staff. What a great school!

My son's teacher was very effective. She gave each parent her personal cell phone number and was always available to us. To me that is called going above and beyond!

Posted: August 2, 2015

I do feel there isn't enough homework. My son never brought home things to do. When asked, I was told they do it all at school and he just needed to read at home.

Posted: August 2, 2015

Honesty, integrity and fairness are words and actions I see in staff members which in turn is shown to the students by words and deeds.

My son has had a great experience at Centreville Elementary. He had a wonderful and caring teacher that made our experience great! I was so surprised at what he learned as a 1st grader there. I am looking forward to several more rewarding years!

I used to go to c.e.s and it sucked . The teachers would teach us poorly and they would get distracted easily , a lot of kids would fail their tests and assignments and they would do nothing about it . When I was in 6th grade my teacher would stop in the middle of her lesson and would just show us videos of her daughters doing cheerleading . I would search up the teachers and make sure they're good at their job .

My son has been attending CES for the past two years, and my daughter will begin kindergarten in the fall. I LOVE this school. I moved into this area because of the school system. Mrs. Manolares has been the most amazing teacher and person I have ever known. I'm an educator - I have a post-master's degree in education. I know that my children are in great hands at CES. They also promote parental and community involvement. This is an absolutely amazing school.

We have been very happy with this school and everyone I know has had nothing but positive things to say about it. This school promotes community involvement. Right before school starts your child's teacher personally comes to your house to introduce their self. No other school in the area does this! We feel lucky to have our child attend such a great school.

This school was my daughter's base school, before she transferred to another AAP based school. Although she enjoyed this school, she readily says to me that she likes her current school much more. I believe that this school has excellent parent involvement, but a poor leadership quality. Some of the teachers were quite impressive, but most nowadays hold a very weak and disrespectful rein on their students.

CES has an amazing staff! The school is very diverse and welcoming. I can't imagine any of the staff allowing a child to be treated badly. Fantastic activities and wonderful learning enviroment. I consider my kids to be blessed to attend such a fantastic school.
