Clearview Elementary has been a good fit for my children-the teachers we've had have been supportive and helpful and invested in my children's progress and overall success.

K-3 don't have take home work. I like this policy.

As I said I took my child out of this school and put her in private school. Principal only cares about her persona. Oh, and she brings her dog to school which as I understand is contrary to Fairfax County school regulations.

Most of the kids are English learners and have no interest in doing any school work. The administration only cares about pleasing parents, the principal spends most of the day in her office putting out behavioral issues. I would never send my child to this school. We put our child into private school.

Teachers dont have the option to be effective. There are numerous behavior issues. Kids are labeled and put into special ed because the schools success numbers are so low.

Lots of bullying goes on. Personally I know two families who experienced bullying and nothing was done when reported by the kids, parents have to take time off and meet personally with the principal.

The leadership couldnt be worse. More time is spent on theme days and the such. Discipline is non existent. My child talked about kids running around the room on top of desks. Effective teachers and support staff are not given needed support if they are not friends with the principal. Parents not in the PTA are ignored. In any case, parent involvement is pretty much non existent. The PTA parents non of whom are from the Hispanic community are involved and thats it. 90% of the school is Hispanic from non English speaking families.

Any kids who are behind are labeled special ed. Kids that do need help get ignored until and if a parent speaks up. Many classrooms are in kaos and learning is impossible. Students who are from the middle class and involved families are labeled AP so that those kids who want to learn and do well can be separated from the kaos.

Absolutely not. As I mentioned, most teachers do nothing, if reported to the principal consequences are a joke.

Another successful school year! My kids love their teachers and classes and look forward to the fall. We're so pleased with the neighborhood feel of this school.

This is a wonderful neighborhood school which also serves as a Level IV AAP center .I have a 2nd grader in the school and couldn't be happier with the school.

This is my second review of Clearview Elementary since we moved to Herndon more than 3 years ago. Today was my oldest child promotion ceremony at Clearview and I do not want to tell you how many times I wiped off tears for seeing my daughter receiving 6 awards and certificates including President' Award for Outstanding Academic Excellence signed by President Obama! I still have one child in 4th grade and she is excelling in all subjects also. I know that my daughters work hard but believe me without the exceptional and hard efforts of Clearview's great teachers my children would not have been able to acheive that. I have to recognize the great Administartion represented by the Principal Mrs. Wilson and her assistants Mr. King and Mrs. Brown. Again, Clearview is that friendly and lovely community that you will absolutely feel comfortable to have them educate your little ones. Thank you Clearview Elementary!

I went to this school from third grade to sixth grade for the gifted and talented program. My third grade teacher I didn't like and in all the years I only liked having my sixth grade teacher cause she was really fun and energetic. Over all I didn't love this school and it was worse than my first es but not horrible.

Clearview's hard-working teachers are turning around its "Focus School" designation. Great students. Principal needs to do more to better model genuine commitment to a collegial team approach, get out of her office and lead collaboratively with teachers. Also needed is a principal who actually speaks Spanish (since 33% of students are Hispanic), and one who is very familiar with Hispanic cultures. FCPS should initiate a parent, teacher, community opinion survey this year and redistribute every few years. Analysis should be provided to all. More parent volunteers needed. Better commitment to PBIS check in and out support for more students suggested. There are many good specialists to help make this work.

The school is run like a popularity contest. The principal is dying to be liked. Moreover, if you complain to the principal about a teacher, and the principal likes the teacher, she will defend the teacher. If the principal does not like the teacher, you can be certain there will be follow through. Fortunately, the principal is hardly ever at the school. As far as the teachers, most of them are bright, dedicated professionals. Parent involvement at Clearview is poor. Parents do not want to be in the building lest they be judged and/or spoken to in a condescending way.
