Franklin is great. There is a new principal and a few new administrators who are working to improve accountability and student engagement. Special education services have greatly improved!

The environment at this school is completely toxic. There is a total lack of discipline or supervision, leaving the hallways feeling chaotic and unsafe for anyone. It is clear that there are no standards for conduct or academic achievement at this school. I would strongly advise staying away from this place if you value your mental health or your time.

As a parent, I expected Franklin Middle School to provide the fundamental elements every family looks for in a middle school: a safe environment, supportive staff, transparent communication, and above all — a commitment to each child's academic and personal growth. Unfortunately, our experience with the school’s Special Education services fell far below those expectations.

The program lacked essential oversight at every level, from the PSL to the classroom teacher. There was no meaningful progress monitoring, no proper testing, and no delivery of individualized instruction as required by law. Instead of making progress, my son regressed while attending this school.

When these serious concerns were brought to the administration’s attention, the school initially acknowledged their failures. However, they later reversed their position, citing “miscommunication” and admitting they had not collected the necessary data to support their claims of progress. This is not just disappointing — it is a violation of my child’s educational rights.

What is most troubling is that unless you have significant time and financial resources to independently advocate for your child, the system here will not support you. The lack of accountability and the persistence of ineffective practices — even after faults were openly acknowledged — is unacceptable.

I strongly urge other families to consider different educational options or secure private support if their child requires special education services. I cannot recommend Franklin Middle School for special education under its current leadership and practices. The consequences for our child’s education were real and lasting — no parent should have to endure the same.

really good school i must say im a 7th grader here not very popular the classes are great this school is clean most of the students are nice just dont get in the way of the popular kids or 8th graders if you are in 7th the teachers are very nice and helpful (most) some are strict though such as my science teacher the school is big as well so it can be easy to get lost and its also tiresome to switch between periods especially if your next class is upstairs but overall this school is great 5/5

I am giving Franklin Middle School 5 stars because of the very high academic standards and expectations of the Principal, the teachers and mostly the students. My child is currently attending and her classes are challenging. The teachers keep the children interested and motivated. The student population for the 2013 8th grade class is EXTREMELY COMPETITIVE. Many of those students took the entrance exam for Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology. Not all kids can keep up with the course load expectations, but that is the child's responsibility. Middle school is tough for students because many are still going through the growing years and trying to find their identity. There are many involved parents who volunteer for various activities...never a shortage of chaperones or teacher helpers. I highly recommend Franklin Middle School.
