This school was a lot better a number of years back prior to combining WMS with TMS. Not only did they change the name of Warrenton to Taylor which was extremely disrespectful to all of the students and alumni who have gone and continue to go there but on top of that the school is beyond overcrowded.
While this is apparently a temporary solution until a new school is built to accommodate all of these students at the old Taylor Middle School location, many live across town and are far closer to Auburn Middle School. Because of this, it has created overpacked classrooms, excessive bullying (often by TMS students), and to get into the parking lot whether for parent pickup/drop off or for an after school event it is almost laughable because its so ridiculous due to the complete lack of parking.
Coming from a parent who went to WMS many years ago as Fauquier County is also my hometown, Im highly disappointed in what my son (who attends there as a 8th grader) has had to deal with. Episodes of bullying when he was in 7th grade that I was NEVER notified about by the administrators or by the school counselor are unacceptable. The bullies parents received phones calls (I later found out) but not the victims.
This school has become a joke and was so much better not only when my oldest son who is a senior in high school went there but also when I was a student there years ago. The lack of accountability that staff have shown toward some young people who have had behavioral issues is anppalling and the children with these types of issues should have been given serious disciplinary actions after the first 1-2 offenses. Instead, they were either put back in class or put back at the lunch table with my son.
Something seriously has to change. Most public schools (that Im aware of) in Fauquier County have a good track record but the former Warrenton Middle has unfortunately become not one of them. Be weary when enrolling your child here.

I can't wait to take my kids out of this school. They sure could use a new principal, the current one is not effective at all, hard to reason with him, and he only sees one-sided. Refused to STOP racist comments!

Mr. Malloy failed to conduct a proper investigation into the incident that affected my son. He did not take time to ask my son what truly happened. He based his findings solely on a video. I believe my son was not given a fair punishment, since he was only there to help the kid who was being bullied. Instead of asking questions, my son said the vice principal was screaming at him. I was told first by the principle that the video showed that my son was pushing the victim on the floor, but I found that my son was just tapping him and asking if he was okay. At the second meeting I had with the principal, he informed me he was punished because he was a bystander. Despite my son's statement explicitly stating that he was only involved to help the victim, they failed to read it. In light of this, I believe his leadership was ineffective.

We love Warrenton Middle School! Middle school is tough no matter where you are. Weve felt that a majority of teachers care about what they are doing and care about our kids. Staff has been very responsive in both positive situations and the negative situations. Weve felt heard and feel as though kids are safe and succeeding.

This is a bad school. Most of the teachers don't care about their students, and every other week they're making us do something pointless. Don't go here.

Decent school, mostly decent teachers, some are amazing~ However, there is not much done by Admin when it comes to the very "few" teachers who bully students. Admin needs to take a stronger stance on how their teachers treat the kids. Then more amazing teachers outweigh the bad ones but be assertive parents. There are a few "bad apples" at this school that need to learn how to treat children. They need professional development at this school. A bit backwards. I would recommend Responsive Classroom Training be taken by the teachers who are in a power and control trip with their students. Admin would benefit too.
