I can’t say enough good things about the summer camp at Ideaventions Academy. Our experience this summer was truly exceptional — by far the best camp we’ve ever attended in all our years of raising children.

From the very first day, it was clear that every part of the program was thoughtfully designed. The staff and teachers were beyond outstanding — professional, warm, and genuinely passionate about working with children. Their energy and dedication were felt every single day.

What made this camp stand out was not just the fun, but the academic enrichment built into every moment. The reading and math activities were incredibly well-structured and engaging, and the variety of themes offered something meaningful for every child. We especially loved receiving daily summaries of what the kids learned and did — such a thoughtful and helpful touch!

As a parent at Ideaventions Academy, I am continually amazed by the remarkable student body and their genuine passion for learning. What sets this school apart isn't just its rigorous STEM curriculum, but the extraordinary community of intellectually curious students who inspire one another daily. My son has been attending since fourth grade and is now thriving in high school.

The students truly embody what it means to be lifelong learners. My son regularly comes home excited to share discoveries or questions that sparked fascinating classroom debates. What strikes me most is how these students naturally support each other's learning journey—there's a beautiful culture of collaboration rather than competition, where students celebrate achievements and help one another tackle challenging problems.

The school attracts intelligent students, but what's even more impressive is their kindness and genuine enthusiasm for learning. My son has found his academic tribe, surrounded by peers who share his love of learning and intellectual curiosity. The diversity of interests is remarkable—you'll find the same child who builds award-winning drones also performing in the school play.

The students' commitment to learning shines through in their approach to experiential curriculum. They embrace every opportunity to learn through doing, understanding concepts, and applying them creatively. Student-led clubs demonstrate their initiative, from robotics teams that compete nationally to bird-watching.

Watching my son thrive among peers who share his intellectual curiosity has been truly transformative. He's more confident, more willing to tackle challenging tasks, and more excited about his future. The friendships he has formed are based on shared interests and mutual respect.

If you're looking for a school where your child can find their people and pursue their passions without limits, Ideaventions Academy provides exactly that environment. The student body creates a vibrant, supportive community where every child can flourish.

I highly recommend Ideaventions Academy for families seeking an exceptional educational community for their child/ren.

Ideaventions Academy is an exceptional educational institution that truly shines in its approach to learning. The teachers and staff are outstanding, bringing passion and expertise to every lesson. Their commitment to active, hands-on learning creates an engaging and fun environment that sparks curiosity in students. The summer camps are a highlight, offering dynamic and enriching experiences.

The academy excels in teaching science and technology, fostering innovation and critical thinking. They also place a strong emphasis on appreciating the natural world and nurturing each child’s emotional well-being, creating a balanced and supportive environment. Additionally, Ideaventions Academy demonstrates remarkable sensitivity to students with dyslexia, offering tailored accommodations such as recommending outside therapists to provide extra support during school hours. They ensure these students can fully participate in regular classes, fostering an inclusive atmosphere where every child feels valued and able to thrive.

I highly recommend Ideaventions Academy for any parent seeking a high-quality educational experience that supports both academic and emotional growth for their child. Your child will not be overlooked or left behind.

This school has been an incredible community and learning experience that succeeds my expectations. The highly knowledgeable staff is closely committed to a child's individual progress in skills and development. They have been sensitive and supportive for my child with ADHD. There is a focus on academic success (including incredible projects and exploration in engineering, science, and coding), but also a desire to support a well-rounded experience by encouraging kids to engage in sports (golf, volleyball, basketball, track, and flag football), or clubs and activities. The school promotes math and science, but it also supports creativity through development of writing and analyzing literature, deep dives into history, a school-wide play, fishing, bird watching, crochet, improv, and so many other creative electives. They provide fun events for kids to enjoy together like evening events with grilling, movies, and karaoke. They make sure they are keeping within the standards and syllabus of the public schools, keeping the children ahead in curriculum. In high school, students are provided with college counseling throughout their 4 years to help students and parents navigate the process to apply to the schools of their choice. I can't imagine sending my kids anywhere else.

As a parent, I couldn’t be happier with our experience. The teachers and staff are incredibly dedicated and supportive, and our son has grown so much academically and personally since joining the school. The community is welcoming and the environment truly encourages learning and character development.

Our daughter started to attend the school mid year and it was such a great experience we are planning on sending all three of our kids to the school. I was so surprised at how unique and different their approach to education prepares them to learn but also to transition to real world skills. I wish we had known about the school sooner!

Our very bright and quirky daughter has attended Ideaventions Academy since eighth grade, and it has been life-changing! She is happy to go to school each day and is energized and challenged by the teachers, peers, and curriculum, not to mention extra activities like high school co-ed volleyball, the numerous clubs (if there isn't one, kids can found one themselves with a few friends!), and of course the national champion AVR team. She is now a rising junior and we are so pleased and relieved that we found the right place for her! Small classes and excellent, enthusiastic, and fun teachers all add to the wonderful experience. If your child is looking for more of a challenge and wants to be surrounded by bright, curious, and kind students, this is the school. And the daily morning walk for students in all grades and a lot of teachers too helps with bonding and is pretty cool!

If I could have designed a school myself, this is exactly what I would have created. Fortunately, I didn't have to! Ideaventions is a warm, caring, academic powerhouse with students who are kind and *genuinely interested in learning*. The school is like a big family. Throughout my exhaustive search for a school for the gifted in the Northern Virginia area, only Ideaventions fit the bill.

The teachers and school are fantastic. The administration is run by a controlling and arrogant owner. Her firm belief that her own experiences encompass all possible situations and that her understanding of a child's brain development is irrefutable is absurd.
If she were more open minded or if she were less restrictive on imposing her beliefs on others, we would have loved to stay. As it is, I can honestly say I have never dealt with a more unyielding, opinionated, and arrogant administration.

I worried that small class sizes would make it prone to cliques but I think that the small size in fact contributes to a very strong sense of community. My son is able to interact with both younger students (who look up to him) and older students (who mentor him). Teachers authentically care. A curriculum that is amazing plus field trips, math and engineering challenges, after-school and weekend activities (movie nights, "nerf gun wars"). Critical thinking skills, a code of conduct, school counselor and nurse, "classes" for parents (such as applying for colleges, how to help gifted children)... No school is perfect, but this one comes pretty darn close. We've been attending for over 4 years and every year seems to get even better than the last.

We are so glad to have enrolled our child at Ideaventions. Our son was previously in an Advanced Academic Placement (AAP) school in Fairfax County, and we observed that he was not being academically challenged. This prompted us to look at different private schools. Ideaventions was such a great fit for him. The class sizes are smaller than public school, and they have a strong emphasis on science, technology, engineering and mathematics. Our son is thriving there and he talks non-stop about what he's learning in his classes. Their curriculum is rigorous, and they employ a hands-on learning experience with individual attention to help the students understand concepts and learn how to apply them. They also encourage our son to go as far as he can academically (e.g., as a 4th grader, he is now learning 7th grade math). Our son loves his school and we couldn't ask for a better learning environment for him than Ideaventions.

We are not alone. The COVID-19 pandemic changed our lives in many ways, but taking our rising 5th grader out of public school and moving to Ideaventions Academy in fall 2020 was an unbelievable gift. The school size and focus allows them to be highly flexible, adaptable and still provide a challenging learning environment online. The online learning was spectacular, only to be out done by an amazing in-person learning experience (even when distanced, and masked). We appreciate the enriched and challenging curriculum, focused classes and block schedule, and the opportunity to select electives (in lower school!). Our daughter loves the students, the teachers, and the community it provides her. Every opportunity to be at school--she is there. She is with like-minded students who are genuinely curious and eager to be in an active-learning environment with the world around them. The teachers in the school are truly committed to your child's development and well-being--they know our daughter. Feedback we receive is highly personalized, thoughtful, and actionable. The teachers are subject matter experts, trained in their disciplines (engineering, neuroscience, economics, history, etc) who also love to teach, and are really good at it. They challenge the students yet are engaging and inspiring which builds confidence. The school directors are committed to the mission of the school, and every decision they make is intentional and with the best interest of the kids in mind. We never intended on sending our daughter to private school, then the pandemic came along--now I can't imagine taking this opportunity away from her. Everyday, we are grateful she is there--engaged, focused on what matters--and in love with learning.

This is our first year at IA and I can't speak highly enough of the staff, faculty and student body.

The curriculum is thoughtful, encourages critical thinking and think outside the box. While the school has a strong focus in math and science, my child is getting a well rounded education with classes in Language Arts, History, Community, etc., electives in art, foreign languages and history of food as well as after school fun like drama, sports and animal lovers clubs!

The daily updates are informative detailing by class what my child did that day and I like the sneak peak on what the higher grade levels are learning/reading/doing.

The teachers encourage the students to advocate for themselves but they are always on hand to help!

My child has developed strong friendships with kids at various grade levels which shows that there is a common comradery and closeness in this community. It has been difficult scheduling Dr. appointments, etc. because she doesn't want to miss a minute of her time at IA.

The best review I can give comes from my child who says that Ideaventions Academy "is the best school ever!" and we wholeheartedly agree.

Ideaventions is one of the best investments we've made for our son. Before enrolling at Ideaventions, he suffered from low confidence, was shy and timid around others, and we worried about his academic and social development. Through a combination of caring teachers, small class sizes, a community of kind and bright students, exposure to numerous learning opportunities both in class, after class, and through amazing field trips, and a very well run school, our son has blossomed into a confident, self assured, caring leader and we place much of the credit with our decision to enroll him at Ideaventions. If you're looking for a well run, high-touch, customized learning experience for your child, you can't go wrong choosing Ideaventions for your student.

This school is good in an education perspective, but the student population is small enough that you may not even make any friends. You forget how to make friends and be social over time because of how small the actual school is. With a good friend group, the school is great for any student, although a little suffocating, but my child is a little anti-social now.

After 2 years of sending my gifted child to this school, I can once and for all say, I am EXTREMELY disappointed. I wanted my child to have a STEM-Oriented education, and me and my family did some research, and found a school called "IdeaVentions" online. The reviews were breathtaking, but so was the cost! I expected that with this outrageous price tag, would come an education that reflects it. I talked to one of the teachers and it was apparent to me that he was not fit to lead a classroom. I was talking to one of my friends who has a kid in a public school near here, and I can 100% say that he has a MUCH better education and is MUCH more intelligent that my kid, even though they're in the same grade. After I took him out, he became much smarter and more confident in himself. I do not recommend this school! You may think that since it's so expensive, that it's good! It's not! Beware!

My daughter loves this school, and is upset whenever she cannot go to school. I asked if she wants to visit Disneyworld in February, but would have to miss school a few days. She said no-she would rather go to school!! They have an amazing focus on computer science and engineering, and the science teachers are wonderful and engaging. The math teacher is the best, and hilarious to boot. My daughter now loves to go to math class. The students are friendly and intelligent. And of course, the class size is very small and so my daughter receives a great amount of individual attention.

Several amazing aspects to this school: 1. The most qualified staff, many with PhDs and real world science experience. 2. A self-paced mathematics curriculum that lets students advance quickly. 3. Unique hands-on engineering classes. 4. The only real computer science and programming courses I have encountered at the elementary and middle school levels, with expert level instruction. 5. Unique clubs and electives. 6. A 100% positive and safe environment, completely lacking in the cruelty so common at other schools.

The teachers are kind, interact with the students in non-curricular ways -- play dodge ball, chess, and care for guinea pigs -- and motivate most of the in-class learning with projects that just fascinate the students. This week: mortar recipes for strong walls.

My fifth grader has no required homework besides half an hour of daily reading of his choice. He has the option to work on redbird math at home. He ends up working on a raspberry pi and learning to program -- a project he assigned himself, not a school assignment.

A weekly community-building session has included discussions on many aspects of character, including fair play, honest work, and accurate citation of sources.

My child thinks school is heaven. He pulls me out the door to meet the bus each day, and earnestly wonders whether weekends are necessary. Ideaventions is doing everything right: hands-on projects, high motivation, terrific relationships with faculty and peers, minimal homework, flexible schedule, enrichment and out-of-level opportunities, kids' sense of ownership of their learning. Amazing school.
