This is truly a wonderful school. The care and dedication of the teachers and staff shine through in everything they do. Some of the most exceptional educators Ive ever encountered are here. While I cant speak for every classroom, my children have been incredibly fortunate to learn from teachers like Ms. Pitzen, Ms. Mixter, Ms. Bennett, Ms. Capayachi, Ms. Kimball, and Ms. Esposito... each one outstanding in their own way.
Even after a full day of teaching, these educators continue to show up for their students during extracurricular activities, whether it be a soccer tournament, taekwondo belt ceremony, robotics competition, ensuring every child feels seen and supported. And they do all this while balancing families of their own. Thats not just dedication, thats love.
The office staff have always been warm, welcoming, and open, like an open book to me. They genuinely value family and community involvement and work hard to highlight the schools strengths and unique character to the broader public.
The principal is a remarkable leader and human being. Despite the many responsibilities she carries (both as a mom and as the head of the school) she makes a conscious effort to be present in the lives of the students. Shes not just supervising staff; shes connecting with her scholars (as she calls them). Her presence and commitment make a real and lasting impact on the schools culture.

This school is truly a wholesome and diverse community that has provided a nurturing environment for my two children, one in 1st grade and the other in 2nd grade. I am especially pleased with the support they offered to my 1st grader, who was an IEP student and had transferred from Fairfax. Since joining this school in Pre-K, we've witnessed a consistent and positive growth experience. The dedicated teachers have played a pivotal role in nurturing their development and have been actively involved in their progress, making it a wonderful educational journey for both of them.
The principal's commitment to creating a welcoming and supportive school environment adds to the overall positive experience we've had here.
Dedication to the well-being and academic success of all students is evident, and their open-door policy and regular interactions with parents are greatly appreciated.

This school has the potential to be great but falls very short. A lot of administrative turnover since it opened with the latest principal putting a positive smile outward to parents, but not trusting and micromanaging her teachers.
The special education department has parents fighting for every single accommodation of help. They say they support the child and want to help but actually do the opposite and it start to feel like it's deliberate. They make getting special education needs a struggle despite clear diagnoses and need.
STEM is such a big part of education and coding is not included in the general curriculum at all, except for students in the gifted program. Only the gifted program has robots and coding. General students do not get this education.
Teachers have been a real shining light at this school and try their best within a rigid and distrusting admin. The teachers are fabulous and should be given more freedom to teach, collaborate with each other and do what they do well.

Most educators are attentive to their students. The principal of the school is amazing. She is great with the students. She know how to interact with her students.

We've been at the school since its opening with the first kid. Now we have the second kid going there. There has been a high rate of teacher turn over during the past 4 years and I often hope we get rezoned. I want to see the school work well but am left with nothing but hope. I have one kid that excels, isn't challenged, is bored and hates school because they know it already. The other is struggling, hates school and the teachers can't find a manner that clicks with them. Teachers continue to say try harder and do more at home; as if we're not already doing 2 hours of homework a night. I dont think its the amount of effort.

We were told that homework should be 10 minutes per grade. So in effect a 5th grader would have 50 minutes of homework. We often spend 2 hours on homework and don't get all the subjects finished and we're not in 5th grade yet. My kid hates school and homework. Learning is supposed to be fun but it's a struggle here.

It seems the curriculum is based on the SOL tests and some teachers aren't spending the time necessary to teach the kids in a way that works for them but will get better scores on SOLs. We were asked last year to be part of a SOL prep group 6 weeks prior to testing because my child's scores were low. Why wasn't this assistance provided while the topics were being taught not 6 weeks in advance to prepare for the test and raise the schools scores.

The 2018-2019 school year saw a change in leadership and the new leadership is still too new to see if they can change the direction from the old. It's looking positive.

This school has a great bulling program in theory but as a parent I question the effectiveness of the teachers to implement it. Why my child came home complaining; we talked with the teacher. The teacher told my child that "they should stay away from the individual" in front of us. When the kids in question are required to stand beside one another in line or sit next to one another based on assigned seats; how can that be avoided? When did this become the way to deal with bulling behavior? I guess look the other way and hope the school year ends quickly is a better approach.

My older child attended CRES for 4th and 5th grade and I currently have my younger child attending this school. I found every teacher that I have interacted over past few years, to be very involved in their students' success. The principal is efficient, seems supportive of teachers & staff and communicates well with parents.
