As a parent of a child who just completed kindergarten at this school, our experience has been overwhelmingly positive. My son was extremely nervous about starting kindergarten, but his teacher made such a positive impact that he quickly grew to love coming to school every day. By the end of the year, he was genuinely sad for school to end and is already excited for first grade.

What stands out most about this school is the sense of community. The house system gives students opportunities to interact with children across grade levels, helping them build connections beyond their own grade level.

Throughout the year, I was consistently impressed by how many staff members knew my son by name. Teachers and staff who were not even his classroom teachers would stop to share positive things about him at pickup. When my husband volunteered at the school, he came home amazed at how connected our son was. Not only did he seem to know everyone, but they knew him as well.

I cannot speak to the administration much at this point, our limited interactions were positive. Despite the one star reviews, there is a lot of good within the school.

We are grateful for the caring teachers and welcoming environment. My son had a wonderful kindergarten experience and is looking forward to another great year.

Stay away from this school !!!! The school made a huge damage to my child’s mental health and emotional health and self esteem to the point where my happy child is started to get crippling anxiety . The admin do not care about the child at all .

The administration at this school is the worst I have ever seen. Completely unresponsive principal that focuses more on fake smiles and his image, a very incompetent assistant principal that lacks basic training and humanity, and a subpar guidance counseling staff that really could care less about the kids. There are maybe a handful of teachers that are good but the rest are just there to collect a paycheck. They have a high teacher turnover so that should tell you a lot. Too bad the admin doesn’t turnover, maybe this school would stand a chance. They love to sweep issues under the rug because it requires work and care to deal with them. Unfortunate. My child hates being at this school and does not feel supported, encouraged, or felt cared about. It’s sad. It’s a new school and you would think that means a quality staff - not at this school. If you value your child’s mental and emotional health, do yourself and your child a favor and steer clear of this toxic school and its staff.

Agree with below review.
Bottom line:

- Unhappy teaching staff
- Unhappy families
- Admin unsupportive of students, families and teachers
- Extemely high teacher turnover
- Contradict themselves to avoid providing services to kids with documented disabilities
- Hiring non-certified teachers
- Poor extra-curricular offering for high-impact programs. Often not offered to whole school and small teams with parents who only want to coach their own kids instead of working to establish long running strong programs like many other schools have in place (Math Olympiads, Odyssey of the Mind, and other nationally recognized programs)
- School is propped up by the scores of children from high achieving families and fails to believe they need to do anything else to help students succeed
- Bottom line: A school can be made or destroyed by its leadership and over 3 years at this school I have yet to talk to one parent or teacher happy with the principal.

This school has everything it should need to be successful. Unfortunately, the administration is weak. It starts at the top with a principal that only manages up. He says what you want to hear, but the follow-up is terrible. There is no appreciation for the parents that volunteer and teachers leave by the droves each year. It is likely the school with the highest teacher turnover in LCPS. On top of that, they are outsourcing teachers internationally because they have such a bad reputation they can’t even recruit. Every year here has been worst than the last. Moving to private school to get our child back on-track. If you can avoid this school - do that. I have never seen so many parents so dissatisfied with a school and we have been at many with multiple kids, moves and re-zones. These people are all talk while students, families and teachers suffer. Every year kids graduate, parents celebrate the end of having to be at this school. They can no longer even find parents to help - despite having many families who would be willing if the school knew how to treat their most helpful contingency. There may be no PTA next year.
