My daughter had an awesome experience at Lee-Davis aka Mechanicsville High School. They offer the Advance College Academy which she participated in. She received her associates degree while in high school. She had phenomenal teachers who really cared about her and she now considers lifelong friends. Mr Stevens is a wonderful principal who knows his students by name and attends almost all athletic and extracurricular activities. It is clear that he loves this school, always introducing himself as the very proud principal. The students love him in return. My only complaint would be their restrictive bathroom policies. They only have one bathroom open most of the time.

While our student had his problems with bullying, it is not unusual for kids to experience some sort in high school, and life in general. It was dealt with the best it could be but it falls on parents to not raise kids that do it, its not the schools fault. Other than that our child loves the school and has thrived there. The teachers and staff have done a great job assisting us in preparing him for life after school.

Only 1 of my son's 4 core classee offered a method of communication when grades began to drop. One of the teachers, to include the guidance counselor, stated that technically a D isn't failing.

No intervention is offered when a child is not performing well. Parents with children who are able to advocate for their own needs will do fine. In the event, there is an issue, it is difficult to acquire the additional assistance needed for a child to be successful.

It has been heartbreaking because some of the teachers have low expectations for my child. He is not a problem child per se, so instead of involving his parents, he was allowed to fall below standards. No additional homework was offered. Family was not involved. He was simply allowed to fail without any attempt to understand why. There could have been something going on at home. He could be depressed. He could have some learning disability. It could be anything, and no one made an effort to find out. That, to me, is scary.

As an alumni, I will say there are far better schools to send your kids to (try to get into Atlee district!). Very high rates of racism & bullying (even by teachers). Both are completely swept under the rug. I dont feel like I had the same opportunities (to be involved in activities, to have high expectations of me, etc) as students at other Hanover high schools.

Really effected my self esteem long term & I wouldnt wish that on anyones kid. But Ill give it 2 stars since its not the absolute worse high school ever

As a parent with children in 3 of Hanover's schools this is the worst! If you fail a Math test you can get tutoring and retake the test for an A! The work load is no where near the work load for the same exact course at Atlee high school. Grades are inflated and students are not expected to achieve at the same level as other schools. Administration looks the other way on racial events that should be handled! Oh and if your senior missed 52 class periods between Jan and June it is completely ok! They will do nothing! Absolutely nothing! This is not education and how the real world works.

Teachers are very educated and care about not only your education but your growth as a citizen. School Spirit is phenomenal, the student section asylum is always fun for your football games. Lastly, the principal is very involved with the school, taking selfies with students during lunches and talking to students in the morning.

As a parent of two students at Lee Davis, I can say that there are a lot of opportunities for students to excel both academically and socially. Teachers have been very dedicated. Good stepping stone to college.

If your child requires extra attention of any kind, gifted or special needs, this is not the school for him/her.
