My child describes it as lack of; lack of teaching, lack of inclusion, and showed favoritism towards students that was very noticeable by all students. Showed sexism and racism; principal quickly dismissed himself from speaking to any parents that weren’t of color (which I noticed and was truly taken back by for someone in such a position to lead). We understand the school is underfunded but it should not lack true care, love, safety, and inclusion of all by All. Starts with adults to lead by example. Do better because this is very sad and disappointing to claim this of anything good for your young children.

My daughter feels welcome and cared for in this school. The staff is knowledgeable and professional and caring.

What really stands out for me the most about this school is that during the award ceremony, my daughter stated, I could really tell that the principal is excited about how well the students are doing. From what I have experienced, my daughter s fourth grade teachers exude that same caring attitude. From the bus driver, to the teachers and the principal, this little school has left a huge impression on us, because they really care about the students at Lawson-Marriot. T & C Lewis

Lawson is a great little school in a rural community with dedicated staff who does whatever it takes to make the learning environment a pleasurable one. It is displeasing to learn of the negative comments regarding the new principal. Since she has come to the school she has increased the awareness and need for school safety and encouraged students and staff to rise to new heights challenging all to do their best within their own unique differences. My heart goes out to the faculty and staff at Lawson Elementary because they do a whole lot with a little bit and it is unfortunate that parents would rather complain and attack than help and support in a possitive manner.

I am a proud staff member at Lawson-Marriott and am offended by the statement that was posted on September 4, 2013. Lawson promotes professionalism and children first. Be mindful of the unprofessional comments you make on others. As adults, you should know it's not what is on the outside, it's whats on the inside that counts Involvement in your child's education will create a trusting relationship with Lawson and promote a positive learning experience for your child..

I have a daughter that is in Lawson and has been for a few years. It started off great, she loved it. She still loves school, but the principal is another story. The principal is very rude and does not want parents in the school at all. She is buying new signs saying no parking instead of trying to get new books for the kids. A lot of the books are 15-20 years old. She dresses very unprofessional and looks like she should be working the streets instead of working with kids. If things do not change I will send my child elsewhere.

I am thrilled with the amount of hard work the teachers invest in the students at Lawson. It is a rural school with a nice mix of ethnicities. We moved to King and Queen from a very large blue ribbon Elementary school located in a different state nonetheless, the quality of education at this school does not seem too far behind and only getting better! I am very pleased with Lawson and heard so many negative comments when moving here that I felt it necessary to let others know...keep your money in the County and send your child to Lawson. It is a great school! It is up to the parents to get involved!

I have had three children going through Lawson over the past 19 years and this is a GREAT scholl with GREAT teachers, that just keeps getting better and better! The school motto is: "Enter to Achieve, Leave to Succeed", and these children will. The first thing you still hear when you move into King & Queen County is, "You're not going to send your children to THOSE schools, are you?" That is so insanely racist, unfair, and untrue I can't even begin to deal with it! We are white, and I'm telling you that if all the folks who have sent their children (and money) to other schools, private schools, or homeschooled had invested that time and energey in our public school system - well, just imagine where we would be!
