When I first researched Rolling Ridge Elementary, I was admittedly concerned. The school's GreatSchools rating was lower than others in the area, and the pressure to send your children to a "top-rated" school felt overwhelming. After three years with children enrolled at Rolling Ridge, I can confidently say those initial concerns were unjustified. This school has exceeded expectations in every way. My children are thriving academically. Their teachers have not only challenged them to grow in their education but have also encouraged their independence. The faculty genuinely cares about the students’ success and well-being. My kids feel happy and excited to go to school. I couldn't ask for a better environment to send my children.

Rolling Ridge is a great school. The teachers are great with my child. I have been able to sit in class during events or visits and notice how engaged the teachers and students are. There is a great difference noticed on the enhancement of knowledge in my child compared from the beginning of the year. The school has always be informative with any situation or any upcoming events.

I would not recommend this school. Horrible all around… has some great teachers and staff but not worth it. Too many issues with bullying not just form kids from staff as well .

If I could do “0” stars I would… they do not care about the kids not the parents or staff. They are skating by to the next grade and it does not get any better at sterling middle school or parkview high school. But the kids are initially being left behind at rolling ridge it’s a tittle 1 school and very well funded but I wonder where that goes(?) not the school building or children that go there. The principal is a clown, she should let the vice principal run the school she seems better fit. The front office acts as if they are inconvenienced by all. It only has a few ( like 4 or 5 good teacher/staff) as mentioned below. I had children in different grades and again the bullying is not properly dealt with. Even the food served there paying or free is truly horrible, I have had my kids beg me to pack lunch.

This school is incredible. I love how the whole staff cares deeply about each and every child. I have a child with a disability and his SPED teachers were incredible. They truly helped my child cope with his disability and is a much better person because of his time there. Thank you so much to the staff at Rolling Ridge.

They do not give out homework on the weekends but they do give them a "playlist" which is pretty demanding (starting in 3rd grade). Students from 3rd grade onwards are expected to be more responsible for doing homework on their own. They also have the option of submitting certain homework online in 5th grade.

Each teacher I have met truly wants the best for these children. That is why over the course of 7 years in the school, we have seen several RR teachers earn "Teacher of the Year" for the entire Loudoun County. The current Asst. Principal used to be Teacher of the Year when he taught 5th grade! Even the young teachers and the specialists sacrifice so much to see these students succeed.

They have a quarterly, CHAMP assembly where they highlight the work and efforts of students who are trying their best and modeling good character at the school. I personally, have spoken up as a parent to the principals when I suspected bullying. But the occurrence is rare. And nipped in the bud as long as students, staff or parents (who are encouraged to do so) speak up. What impressed me the most about RR was how polite the staff were.

The administration has recently changed, so I am still assessing how the leadership will be. However, there is continuity among the staff. And the assistant principal goes above and beyond to keep the school stable. The new principal has wisely carried on previous traditions.

I absolutely love all the special education teachers here even though my children have never had learning disabilities. These teachers think outside the box and the staff. My kids have been able to go at their own pace of learning because they now implement an individualized learning plan.

As mentioned above, I have spoken out when I suspected bullying and this concern was addressed immediately. The next year, the person whom I thought was a bully had a complete turn around and I was so proud to see him walk home from school trying to keep other kids safe. He became a patrol!

I believe this school is a hidden gem. When I first came to Loudoun, 10 years ago, it was rated a 4 and when I attended my first PTA meeting I asked the principals. "How can this school be rated so low?" The population is transient, but these kids are nurtured so much in this beautiful, caring place. I have to say, parents need to be more pro-active. Teachers cannot do this work alone and a lot of the enrichment activities are all parent-led.

They work hard to make kids responsible. They are trying to teach them more than just the curriculum and are encouraging them to be better people.

Mrs. Spurlock is the best principle I’ve ever known. She is always there (not sure how’s she’s everywhere at once) and wherever she is she brings her positive energy, enthusiasm and love for her students. Her passion for Rolling Ridge is infectious and her guidance of the school is exceptional!

They focus on improving this and my son hasn’t experienced any bullying even though he was brand new to the school. Kids were friendly and inclusive right away!

They believe in one way street ethics here rather than showing that two create a conflict and use the words of other children even when those children are part of the bullies group

It took two years to "prove" my child's disability, the iep process was done poorly and my child now is suffering from a changing staff

Both my children came here and have extreme low self esteem and the teacher rather place blame on the child and parent rather then providing tools and helping the families.

I can say that there has been one shining star of a teacher Mr. Harbert. He should train teachers on how to run a classroom and speak to children and their parents. Teachers rather apply pressure to children then empower them towards goals.

There is no consistency when it comes to homework and how the teachers are teaching organization and responsibility. I am lost when it comes to resources.

I've been under impressed with the way the school is ran. We transferred from Fairfax County and I have felt the guilt ever since. The lack of communication between teacher and parent is crazy, you have to beg for it. The previous AP was a nightmare and they have resolved that issue. There is very little for the parents to come and see their children do things, like plays and concerts. No daddy daughter dances. Everything the PTA does is outside of the school. I have fought tirelessly for my child's IEP for the team to constantly look at me for ideas.

Great school. Recently had Principal of the year for Loudoun and now this past year Teacher of the year. Parent volunteers as well as the community organizations are so active.

Teachers and staff are great, super friendly and helpful. Our child (K) is learning at a good pace and exceeding in some areas.

I used to go to this school since third grade and I loved it!! It's the best school I ever to!! I even wish my old teachers would teach at Sterling middle school! That's how nice the teachers are at Rolling Ridge!!

I have nothing but great things to say about the school, the staff, and the leadership at Rolling Ridge. They are very proactive to helping the students learn, address struggles, and form a parent/teacher relationship that is vital to the success of the kids. I applaud this school and the staff and especially the leadership for inspiring and motivating the children daily.

I'll be honest, I had my hesitations based on the rating. I then decided to visit the school and I'm so glad I did. My first impression was very good. The staff was very helpful and understanding. We decided to enroll our daughter there for kindergarten and said we would give it 6 months. We loved it and, more importantly, my daughter really loved it. She was happy each day going to school and coming home. She learned a lot and had fun doing it. Her teacher Mrs. Butler is the kind of teacher you want for young children. She is simply wonderful. The Principal at this school is exceptional. He is always in a great mood, knows every child's name and he is tireless. This man loves this school, the families, and the kids. We are now heading into 1st grade and are looking forward to another wonderful year.

Rolling Ridge is a wonderful school with excellent leadership. Although the student population is very diverse, the teachers and administration do a great job addressing all student needs. The struggling students get small group instruction as well as the high performing students. The atmosphere of the school is solely attributed to the principal and his ability to inspire and motivate the staff. Now all we need are more parents to be involved!
