Overall, the school hasnt been as disrespectful on a daily basis as before, but the front staff's behavior at the open house was completely out of line. A staff member was yelling at a group of students that were alumni and the lady was acting hostile for no apparent reason. It created an unnecessarily hostile environment during an event that was supposed to be welcoming. The lady should have known better then not to yell distinctively at the students that came in and actually have some dignity and understanding that they were apart with a separate student.

If there is an option to give 0 star i would, my kid come home with scars and bruise because of the school fights. Teacher dont even do anything to protect kids and i even have a video of a teacher not doing anything to stop a fight but just yelled for a teacher when she is clearly the teacher!

My child is extremely intelligent and quiet, but the honors classes were very behind due to other children in the classroom that chirp like birds and throw books without proper responses from teachers. I had went in multiple times to observe all my child's classes four times and had complained ( in 2018). There is a new principal this year (2019) so progress may occur compared to 2018, but we are moving for a different school because we want the best attention for our child, not classes of constant inappropriate diversions with a lack of teacher/adult response.

A great school where the teachers and staff do their absolute best for their students. Don't believe the ridiculously low score on this site. If you are involved in your student's education, your experience will be closer to a 9 or 10.

The kids have reasonable and productive homework.

Every teacher weve encounters at SMS has been excellent. They are engaged and deforested and really care that the kids learn. I have to call out a few that are really making a difference and doing it so right. Mrs. Hoyle, Mr. Walsh, Mr. Taylor, Mrs Zupko and Mr. Nilson have wowed me beyond words and make coming to school fun for my kids!

Mr. Martinez is an exceptional principle! He is involved and understanding but is able to push and encourage excellence mostly by his commitment and dedication through example. I am so impressed with the environment that hes created at Sterling Middle.

Counselors and staff seem to be very engaged and sensitive to helping all Stu debts move forward and progress positively.

My kids havent experienced any bullying and the school seems to be on top of it.

Sterling Middle is a great school filled with motivated staff and kids that are doing well and excelling! Its a super positive place (particularly for a middle school) and my kids love coming to school. Of note, we came from Fairfax County and a school rated 10 and I think SMS is a better school and Loudoun is a better school system.

My kids have attended the 3 local cluster middle schools -- River Bend, Seneca Ridge & Sterling Middle. This one is actually the best, then Seneca then River Bend an absolute last. I hear bad things about Sterling Middle, but not true The kids are respectful, humble, and anxious to learn. The teachers care. The principal is great.

My son has attended Sterling Middle for two years now. He is taking Latin and Algebra as a 7th grader and has excelled. The teachers are engaging and really make the school as good any any in Loudoun County, which is one of the best school systems in the country.

Sterling Middle is a fabulous school. I have had 2 children go through this school. They both did very well. The principal really cares about the community, the students and the staff. There is a welcoming feeling every time the door opens. The front office staff are friendly and helpful. SMS was awarded the SCHOOL TO WATCH AWARD ..only 300 middle schools in the country get awarded this award. All the testing scores have gone up over the last 3 years. Standards have been met . There are not any gangs in this school either. Great School!

My son has attended Sterling Middle for the past year (7th grade) and he loves it. I really would like to move closer to work, but he won't let me if it means switching schools. I also like the school; when I moved to Sterling I felt like the teachers were very interested in my son's progress, however I don't really feel like they maintained that momentum through out the school year. I believe my son was bored in the classes and the teachers, knowing this, didn't do much to challenge him. He will be in AP classes next year, so I do hope that would change. Parents' involvement is high and teachers are pleasant.
