My son was bullied ..after his father passed away in 2022 .I tried to move out to Everett n start a new life. My son is still traumatized and he's angry at the staff that watched n didn't protect him
Idk if it political or less funding . This is a liberal school. Even a staff told me my child will be targeted. So unless they have yet changed leadership..funding etc. Be careful sending ur students here they're energy will be down n anxiety up ..pressure etc. They need a bullying policy fixed ASAP. i only came here due to the summit program, but firstly the students are awful. theyre all insanely rude, say slurs and beat others up yet teachers will overlook this and usually never notice it, and ends in either a small form or just a lecture for 10 seconds. most teachers do support the thought of learning though. lunch food is like any school I guess, not special but not good. bullying is frequent, multiple people have bad memories and mental health problems from this school and its kids. personally, I gained trust issues and anxiety. shoutout to my fav ela, math, and orch teacher for supporting me through my learning and looking out for me.

I attended this school last year and the year before worst experience of my life there are a bunch of bullying, a bunch of fake rumors a bunch of used condoms and the fights are the worst of all theyre so much violent there for absolutely no reason it was so bad that I had to change districts I got bullied and when I defended myself because a bunch of girls tried to jump me I got suspended. I didnt fight back. I just kept pushing them. And I guess they got mad at me for pushing them, but the girls got suspended for lower time than me because theyre friends with the staff and the principal its like if you be a bad kid there theyre gonna love you but if you be a good genuine kid, theyre gonna hate you. Its so weird if you take your daughter or your son be prepared for them to come home crying every day or get into many fights or get into vaping and smoking and drugs.

i love the school and teachers but the students are a big problem for me, there are a lot of bullying that happens and a lot of fights too. the teachers do nothing if they see or find out that a person is being bullied but if that person fights back/defends themselves then they are in trouble and the bully gets no punishment. its really annoying.

Personally I only enjoyed attending this school due to its advanced program (summit). The summit teachers allow students time to be creative in our class work. I feel that I have grown both as a person and as a student. The algebra 1 teacher is amazing at his job honestly. Most students would agree.

I went to this school from 2006 to 2008. There was a punishment called 'steps', I don't know if it's still being used. Basically, if a student misbehaves, they are sent to "step one" - sitting in a chair against the wall, not allowed to touch anything. If the student continues to misbehave (or dares to TOUCH THE WALL), they are sent to "step two", which is the same as "step one", only standing. If misbehavior continues, they will be sent to "step three", same as "step two", except now they're staring at an incredibly hypocritical sign which reads "No one has the right to interfere with the learning, safety or well-being of others," as if that will teach them anything. Getting sent to "steps" could be triggered by pretty much anything, including asking questions at the wrong moment, implying that your teacher is not perfect, or your teacher mis-hearing one of your words as a curse in a sentence where it wouldn't even make sense to use that particular curse in that particular context. I should also mention the social skills teachers. They talk down to their students and treat them like idiots, because "kids are like little robots you can program however you want".

I am a Summit student at Explorer Middle School, and I have to say: the teachers are amazing! There isn't really a bullying issue with the Summit students. At least, not anymore. I like the fact that the school is diverse, and I like how the Summit program expands your horizons by pushing you a bit harder. At first, I was quite nervous. A few days later, though, I had made a bunch of friends! The Summit program truly is a unique experience. There are two security officers assigned to the school. Overall, Explorer is a great school to be in, and has amazing staff.

I was a summit student who attended EX from 2011-2013. It was an amazing experience for me. Everyone is very nice and accepted me right away, and there were virtually no real bullies or threats. At first, I thought i would get bullied constantly, but I was very wrong. I was adequately challenged in my classes, and never felt overwhelmed with work. I also liked the sports program that they have. The coaches are very supportive and really helped me grow as an athlete. Even though it is located in a bad neighborhood, I felt safe. There are a couple of police officers assigned to Explorer, and they are very friendly. Explorer even created a community garden this year that everyone could be involved in. Overall, Explorer has a good atmosphere and is a good school in general.

I myself was a student at Explorer Middle School. In the Summit Program, I was constantly bullied. Thiis school is very unsafe and dangerous, especcially for students such as myself.
