Most of the kids here could care less about their peers. The teachers arent paid enough to care.

This school is a joke. They do not do anything to the bully but finds ways to punish the victim. Your child gets bullied and stands up for themselves means the school treats your child like the bully while the real bully gets to be the victim. They do not send a letter home when the child has to visit the nurse due to physical violence from other kids, theres no phone call. You have to hear it from your child when they get home. Then when you do talk to the administration they dont give solid answers as to what happened, always stating they need to talk to the teachers and will get back to you but they never do. They do not send out documentation as that would mean a parent would have proof they dont do anything for the child. They do not have your childs best interest at heart. They dont care.

This school is a joke. The teachers arent paid enough to care what goes on. The zip code is full of children from poverty or barely above poverty households and it reflects in the interaction with the children. It seems that most parents are relying on the school and teachers to discipline and raise the children given the experience here for the last four years. It sucks but it is what it is.

My daughter went to challenger for kindergarten and had an amazing year no issues and they loved my daughter and she took pride in school and loved it. They switched her to horizon elementary school for years 1 and 2 and they have been a complete nightmare. My daughter is constantly bullied and struck by other children. We have tried working with this school for two years now with no results. We filled a variance last year to go back to challenger they denied it due to capacity, even though challenger had 150 less students then horizon. It has gotten worse they put my daughter in special ed because she has a.d.d. I was just in school 12 years ago those services are for children that need it. Autistic, learning disabilities but a.d.d? She is seven years old these people are more concerned about protecting themselves then listening to my daughter she constantly tries to tell them and now they are saying my daughter is a liar today she was pushed down the slide, the principal told why... she held up the line but they didn't see another kid touching her bottom or the other incidents of her being hit, soccer balls thrown at her face, and just plain bullying. The principal threatened to call the police because my daughter is crying telling me someone did this and no one believes her and I am sick and tired of this school. The principal threatened me with the police because I asked her " so you know someone pushed her down the slide but you are sitting here calling my daughter a liar? The principal is a bully with no care for the well being of you're child. If you're child is unfortunate enough to not fit in with the 70% hispanic student body and gets bullied you are in for a massive ride because these people care more about Covering their jobs then they do about listening to a child who is constantly being bullied. I am done dealing with this I have a perfectly clean criminal record and will not be treated like a second class citizen nor let me daughter be struck everyday anymore. The principal is using the police to silence questions is disgusting. When you have a principal telling you you're child was pushed?? when I talked to my daughter she didn't even realize the kids were trying to go down and they just act like it's nothing? Anytime my daughter has the slightest issue these people brush it off but god forbid she does anything they are out for blood.

2 years of constant bullying yet they will not entertain the idea that their environment is to blame.

I asked the principal what happened to the kid who pushed my daughter and was threatened with the police. This school is full of degenerates and I am done letting them treat my daughter this way.

My daughter's self esteem has been severely affected and the fact that she is being treated as a liar when she is being bullied says quite a bit about the adults in charge of this place.

Constant bullying and they refuse to do anything but blame my daughter and are now trying to say she is a liar.

I was a bit concerned about this school based on the rating it received on this site. My son started Kindergarten this year and I was upset that he would be going to a school with such low marks. But after the first few months I realized that the curriculum is wonderful and the scores on this site reflect the population as a whole. And with the majority of the school speaking English as a second language that understandable reduces the overall grades the school gets. My son had a phenomenal teacher whom he adores and I am actually very excited for the fall and how his education will be expanded with an entire day's instruction!
