Our daughter just started SE at Poulsbo elementary. The teachers so far have been exceptional. They are very in tune with the childrens needs. Another bit I loved about this school is safety. During our first visit my wife and I we meandering around the entrance when we were greeted by the principal. She immediately approached us and brought us to security to have proper identification displayed. This day and age safety is a big deal in schools and I feel safe with my daughter at this school.

We have had two wonderful years at this school so far. Our daughter has had disciplinary issues due to ADD and her teachers, counselors and principal have been actively engaged in helping us to get a diagnosis and put together a plan to help get and keep her on track. They have been so supportive and caring. She LOVES going to school, and already misses her teachers now that summer break is here.

The principal (Mr Crandall) is SUPER involved! He knows EVERY student's name, we had a few interactions with him early on with a kid bullying ours and he nipped it right in the bud. He communicates amazingly well with the parents. He really cares about the well-being of the students on all levels: emotionally, physically and academically. He has been WONDERFUL. He also attends EVERY event the school has!!

We LOVE this school! The staff is incredible. There were some playground problems, but again leadership stepped in re-trained the "mom-itors" and we haven't seen any issues since. Also, my kid is coming out of 1st grade reading at a 3rd grade level and doing multiplication. He is challenged and supported every single day.

We had Kindergarten and 1st grade here and they were both very against organized homework. Students and parents were just encouraged to read together.

Like everywhere, there are some that are great and some that are doing the minimal. We were incredibly fortunate to have two teachers that were amazing at encouraging my child and sparking his curiousity.

This school is understaffed and you can tell. So many problems both in the school and on the playground have gone on this year. I won't get into the specifics because you can read about it in the Kitsap Herold. The teachers are under paid and therefore cranky all the time . Vinland isn't any better so you're screwed either way if you put your kids in elementary here .

Problems are ignored when they are presented to the principal and superintendent . I am an active parent that volunteers plenty of time at the school.

We recently moved from Central Kitsap sd to North Kitsap sd. We have two children, one was identified as gifted through CK testing, and the other has developmental delays. I was very stressed about the ability of Poulsbo Elem. to appropriately meet the needs of both children, but Poulsbo has exceeded my expectations. My oldest daughters teacher is amazing at meeting her needs and challenging her. My youngest daughter is enrolled in Poulsbo's developmental preschool program. She has a great special education teacher, and excellent para-educators working with her. The program has made a huge difference in her speech development in just the past 5 months. The school has excellent communication with families, principal letters go out regularly with updates, as well as monthly email updates and newsletters. The volunteers for this school are amazing...offering their services in extra curricular activities and family nights. So, so happy with Poulsbo Elementary.

Poulsbo Elementary has gone through a number of changes in the last few years and now we're on a progressive upward path. We have inspired parents, we have some enthusiastic and passionate teachers, and most of all we have an energetic and supportive new principal that has the school at the center of his heart. We may not have a long history of excellence but I see a huge future!
