My experience here was not fun it was not bad but not the best. some teachers are better then others by a lot now I was bullied but never did anything about it because it would just get worse they did nothing when a kid pushed me up against a fence and I wanted to punch him but didn't because well I would have gotten in more trouble then him and form what I can tell for witnessing people who where not being "normal" everyone hated no one liked them and made fun of them its sad but the school dose teach students well but some teachers can be a problem for some students so ya. I just finished getting into my summer break after having to deal with this school so you don't have to take my advice I am just saying what my experience was like at this school hope your child has a good time at the school.

There is not a lot of homework. Schoolwork can typically be completed in class or during student's 6th period. The work that l have seen is not challenging. History worksheets look like the work my 4th grader is doing in another district.

Not all but some teachers are uninspiring, have little control over their classrooms, yell. Not all teachers but many. Kids are pushed through to make it appear as though they are working at grade level but test scores show many working well below state average. This is a title 1 school with less than 40% meeting those requirements so not the entire school. I hear a lot about demographics and excuses for poor progress but no accountability to teachers. Little follow through. A few are disrespectful, bullying, rude and intimidating. How would you learn in that classroom? The teachers who model respect and patience have respectful students.

Not all teachers are modeling integrity, compassion or respect. How can you expect your students to be respectful, kind and compassionate when teachers are not. There are a couple teachers who are fantastic and it's important to let them know they are appreciated.

I would say the person in charge is responsible to the school. After mr. Woorland left things have not improved. It's difficult to talk to from ms Warren if you have concerns about your student.

School is hesitant to identify kids with learning disabilities or who are behind in studies. Again the test scores show that kids are way behind in core classes.

Teachers being bullies and lying, yes. Have not dealt with student bullies.

I would not recommend Hawkins Middle School. Go elsewhere if you can. If you do not have another option, pay close attentyion to your students progress and hold administration and teachers as accountable as you do or should your student. This is a public school supported by tax dollars - hold them accountable to do their jobs. Speak up, help your kids with schoolwork and be involved.

Hawkins is the worst school my child has ever attended. They supposedly have a zero tolerance policy but fail to uphold it and they tend to lose important paperwork when it comes to trying to get our ABA therapist in for observation. If you have other choices when it comes to schools, I would highly recommend researching those further instead of Hawkins. This school is not equipped to help special needs children.

I Love going to this school. Everyone always come to school with a smile. Even though some kids do drugs as does kids at every school kids can still be a good influence. I love the way they deal with behavior issues. Every new student is welcomed with a smile and they already have a friend. The teachers are wonderful so is curriculum. We recently got new ways of learning for kids who need extra help and a fun activity for kids to do if they don't need help. We also have a great rewards program called seals that give rewards to kids if they did good things like reading 5 books in a tri. I can not say enough good things about my school
