The class sizes are very small making it so the teachers are very aware of your child and their needs. The teachers will do a good job communicating with you but you have to open that line of communication with them first. The strategy they are currently using to have every child enrolled/enlisted/employed, has good means and I hope they get it fine tuned. The athletics director tries her heart out to fulfill the needs of the school even when you can tell hers are not being met. The principal does not have great focus, is constantly behind on tasks and seems to focus on things that should not be a priority. Growing up I never really had contact with my principles so if you have a child that you are not concerned with needing to deal with them often this school is great. Like all small school they lack in funding and resources so if your child has special needs that exceed the normal I don’t know if they would be met but if you were to contact them they would be able to tell you. The administrator will do a good job listening and trying to find ways for you to have your child be welcomed and succeed if you reach out to him for help.

This school is honestly horrible I am a parent at this school my daughter is in elementary school. She tells me she is scared to go to school every morning. She says the boys in her class have no control of their actions. She tells me how she does not feel safe. I talked to the principal about this and my daughter told me how nothing had changed and that everything had gotten worse. The bullying, the swearing, and just plain hurtful words at this school is crazy, no one should ever have to feel this way at a school.
School is for LEARNING not bullying the discipline is horrible they do literally nothing! My friends daughter goes to this school as well she told me how she was trying to report bullying but the school was not helping AT ALL! She was scared and also did not want to go to school. The teaching is horrible. The discipline is horrible. And the whole school system is crazy. To all the parents I would recommend not going to this school if possible it's so toxic and kids get traumatized basically everyday from this school. Stuff like this is horrible for your children to go to. children should not be scared to go to school.

i think this school is perfect i love how they care for the students and teachers and they do not have a bully problem at all that surprised me and its like a little happy school the food services are good and love the school in general would recommend

They may give out homework , but the kids are not accountable. Admin forces school employees to pass students regardless of grades earned, attendance , homework etc.....They also allow students to play sports when having and F letter grade, which seems to mean nothing at this facility . It's a sad observation

Can't tell because grades are given not earned . Teachers are manipulated by Admin. Fear they will lose their job , they end up quitting anyway.

Starts by making students accountable . Check their daily tardy report . I'll bet half or more students are late ..penalty is to get a slip at the office . Attendance consequences are a joke. You don't get F's and represent the school in sports.

I'd not want my child subjected to the amount of violence cussing bullying in this school and it happens daily in class . Teachers have no control. Seems that consequences are for teachers that want to do right , and anyone that blows the lid off of what's really going on. I suggest an investigation and interviews being doors with no reprocussion for telling the truth. Read the reviews we are all saying the same thing and trying to make a point .

Our two children never brought home any homework, yet were A students. Wierd because both of them were having problems with their schoolwork.

One or two of the teachers really seamed to have any interest in the children.

Our children were afraid to go to school some days because of the bullying and the way things were dealt with at school.

We had nothing but problems with the "Dean of Students/Disipline Officer" and not much luck with the School Superintendent/Pricipal. Notice how both of them have multiple job descriptions. This leaves both of them with no one to answer to.

Parents to often place blame on schools and teachers and turn a blind eye to the truth, their parenting or the lack there of. I can say personally through long term experience that students who attend Oakville schools from strong families do very well in their future endeavors, whether college or otherwise. Staff at Oakville schools care about each and every student and students who attend Oakville schools and then later bad mouth the school are only using the school as their own excuse. These are the facts.

Oakville is a school with great kids and a community that cares for them. Teachers must care and be professional and not be self centered. Being a small district is hard for some to handle. 99% of the teachers don't live in the community. Many who begin there use it as a way to get a year's experience and then move on. They don't have the commitment to the school, students, or community.

Oakville High School has many problems. Due to bad leadership at the district level, students are able to run wild, skip their classes, curse at teachers and worse with very few consequences. Teachers are blamed when students fail, even if the students rarely attend school. The academic standards are so low that all graduates have to take remedial courses in college. As a parent, I would send my child to school elsewhere.

Oakville High is a very outstanding little community when you drive thru. If you happen to spend time there you will find that it is a very depressed town, low income level. Most children do not live with their biological patents, Majority live on the reservation with native Grandparents and Aunts and Uncles.This is a main cause for poor scholastics, guardians tend to put these kids on a podium, majority are tardy daily, unexcused absences, low low grades, poor State test scores. I'm sure some are being pushed thru the system without being eligible, a multitude of serious issues equals failure. Noway are they ready for college, the 1 student counselor does not possibly have enough time to work with every child is in need.Its a poverty stricken school. Parents get a grip , superintendent wake up, Lets do our job and take some ownership of the students, discipline is necessary!, they cant play sports with F's, nor graduate with insufficient amount of passing credits. The school is the only thing Oakville has so lets go!! Be Proud . Staff continue to work hard! Go Acorns

I recently visited Oakville school for a K9 Nosework (NACSW) competition. I was tremendously impressed by the student artwork and writings on the "Spirit Bear" project, displayed in a main hallway. The depth, insight and sensitivity shown were truly amazing! Not knowing who Cole Matthews was, I did some research and discovered he may be inside many of those students. Very profound.
