When my husband was stationed at Ft. Lewis (JBLM) we lived in Lacey, WA (about 10-15miles south of Ft. Lewis). We lived in the Stonegate neighborhood. There were lots of other military families there and lots of kids for my little ones to play with! My daughter attended the Mini Skool on Yelm for daycare/preschool. Loved the school and wish we could have something like it here in CA!!. Lacey has lots of shopping (Target/Walmart/Safeways) and Olympia has a mall and some neat downtown stores. There is also a nice Children's Museum in Olympia that my kids loved! Lots of good restaurants in the area as well.
