Students got there phones taken away if they see it in your pocket, my child is constantly being bullied by not only students but also teachers, if students didnt work the entire class no food for the week, teachers made fun of my childs personal beliefs and what she identified as, their satanists, they made sure that anyone on the LGBTQ community was NOT WELCOME

Our son is thriving at this charter school. He will graduate in 2026.

Summit Sierra has been a lifesaver for my child. She was drowning in the size of a large public high school and felt like a number. We then transferred to Sierra in November of 9th grade. Since then she has felt connected and cared about. Mentoring is strong and the school uses a block schedule system that works well for kids with ADHD. Supports are there when students have conflicts and they work with parents at every step. Mentors follow a group of mentees from 9-12th grade to make an even more close knit community. There aren't as many activities or sports, but that is typical for a smaller school. The school is in a challenging part of Seattle, however the principal and the admin have established ties to community groups and the Mayor's office to make the area safer. Overall it has been a really important place for my child to learn and grow.

My daughter is a sophomore at Summit Sierra, so this is her second year there. She loves it! The experiential-based learning model is a great way to engage students. The teachers are all so talented and accessible, including the principal and the admin leadership -- all incredibly nice and available. The interior school environment is v pleasant and the smaller student population size is perfect for more focused support for all students. The mentor cohort model is very effective, keeping the students on track with their post High-school 'Concrete Next Step' plans.
My daughter is really enjoying her experience there; she is happy to go to school in the morning, and still happy when she comes home. Makes a world of a difference not to have to poke & prod them to go to school!

Summit Sierra is amazing- the ratings this site gave clearly show they dont know the school at all. Yes, it doesnt offer as many AP classes, clubs, or sports due to its small size, but the other benefits really outweigh that. Instead of focusing on piles of homework, SAT vocabulary words, and grade pressure, Summit teaches teamwork, critical thinking, developing personal interests, and readiness for college/life. Everyone takes the PSAT each year to practice for the SAT. Everyone takes a personal finance class. Everyone chooses 2 subjects that theyre interested in (anything from art, to business, to game development) for 2 week Expeditions blocks. The teachers care, and my son actually enjoys going to school. Due to its small size and charter school status, they can adapt and offer things Seattle public schools cant. After suffering through the chaos, rigidity, and lack of resources (including adequate number of teachers) at SPS during middle school, Summit Sierra has been a huge relief. My son comes home relaxed, happy, and full of stories or new ideas from his day. It may not be the most academically rigorous high school in the area, but the academics are good, the teachers are engaging, and Id rather he spend part of his day talking about propaganda and current events rather than marching through AP material just so he can add it to a college application. The administration is also terrific- they really have it together. I have zero complaints about policies, communication, organization, or ability to work with them. It may not be for everyone, but Summit Sierra is worth checking out.

Summit Sierra just has its act together; they have a clear focus and vision that each student will attend a 4-year college. Everything they do is focused on leveraging the best research to attain that outcome.

We struggled for years in Seattle Public schools with our dyslexic but highly capable (2e) son. Each year we would have to meet with each individual teacher to walk them through his IEP and then advocate for him from week to week. He missed 20% of days in 8th grade and it was exhausting for all of us.

When we met with Summit they had were not phased by his profile. They had strategies that support his learning style such as each student is a part of a small (up to 20kids) mentor group which they stay will throughout the school. Each student meets with their mentor at least once a week. All work is managed through an online portal where the student can research the college they want to go to, they see how what the expectations are for the college and how they are tracking towards it. They can see all subjects assignments on one page. Most practice work is completed at school (so very little homework which is great for kids with delayed executive function). Grades are skill mastery-based; kids can keep improving the score through the year. If they screw up a test, they can retake it
