The school system during the covid pandemic went from bad to worse.
Ive been ruthlessly bullied for years and have reported it yet nothing happens.
No teachers have cared at all about the students and have yelled at us for failing when we are just trying to survive.
Character Strong hasnt done anything and the mental health support is horrible.
Dont go here.

Our experience has been a bad one. I've not felt connected to any of my kids' teachers here. And they have not reached out towards my kids. I feel like students do their time (3 years), survive it, and then get out. Highly disappointing since our elementary and high school are so kind and well organized.

Teachers are fairly lax about deadlines. Either your child learns to handle the responsibility of handing things in on time, or they get more than one chance to do an assignment. Either way -- they get through and get out.

There are a few teachers my family has been happy with (Mr. Martin, Ms. Chevy). But most of the teachers don't bother to get to know my children, who are very quiet. My kids are routinely passed over, and are not reached out to. They have few memories of this place, which is for the best (sadly).

How are students supposed to develop these traits when the admins don't care about students, and rarely get involved? And when my kid can go here 3 years, and no one remembers them? BMS has a real lack of care when it comes to kids.

It is difficult to get in touch with administrators, and they rarely reply. When they do -- they brush off your concerns, and go back to business as usual. There is little to no communication when it comes to families. When we do hear something, it is usually 2-3 days before an event. It makes the admins and teachers look disorganized and ineffective.

The homework due dates are flexible making the lack of structure hard for students to manage their time well.

While there are some great teachers at this school (Mr. Martin). There are some teachers who take months to grade science projects, treat students like delinquents, and dont return emails to parents.

We had an issue with a particular teacher talking about my student using their name in her class in a negative way. The principal seemed to rarely be at the school or have time to meet with us. The issue was never really resolved and after we requested to meet with the principal, student, and teacher with us present... they met without us. The admin completely omits parents from being active participants in their child's school life.

I had a child in the sped class in and 3 years at the school the lead teacher was new every year making it hard to grow a successful program.

Terrible. We have one more child yet to enter middle and we wont allow them to attend unless the district gets a grapple on this school and overhauls the admin and teachers that need to move on.

The vice principal seems to want to weild his authority over the students at every opportunity. He insists on making his announcements during their lunch break and expects complete quiet during that time. Students are then threatened with having to sit by their home rooms rather than with friends if they take to long to be quiet. Lunch break should be students time to chat and socialize. Reward activities are often threatened to be removed if behaviour is deemed " disrespectful". There seems to be an assumption that all students will behave badly and there fore they are not treated as young adults but rather inmates.

Among all the schools we've attended in the district, this is by far the worse. We never feel welcome on campus. There isn't any recognition of who my children are as people. They don't take the time to get to know families and treat them with respect.

Terrible, all teachers at this school barely use skyward or have a google classroom, students can't check on what they missed. If a student is failing the teachers will still move on. There are huge learning gaps at this school

This school is not really set up for kids who need special ed. services, Tumwater Middle is better suited for them , but some of the staff do try. The teachers rely on Skyward for communication with parents and unless you are checking it weekly or daily as the administration would like you to do it's easy to miss when your child is failing and the policy of not sending disciplinary actions taken home in a written form is problematic at best. In school suspension with no written explanation makes understanding hard.

The transition from elementary school to middle is awesome! They toured the parents and also gave information about the school, as well as the students. They have a test locker to practice. Waiting for the fall to have the real experience!!!
