Great school when parents understand technology somewhat and are willing to help their children adapt. The system and curriculum had a recent revamp which ABSOLUTELY helped and made it way more user-friendly. They need to hire a couple more advisors, especially with the rising popularity of the Running Start program among students and college involvement. Not a big issue though, especially for students below grade 10.

The lessons are easy to navigate as a student, and the teachers are very friendly. Attend livelessons, contact your teachers, and ask plenty of questions. As a learning coach look into ways to prevent your student from cheating. Use Khan Academy videos as a supplement for any confusing topics and to solidify learning.

There is also a High School Hangout live lesson to let students chat among themselves and with the principal and vice principal. There are new school-provided emails, and many teachers use additional websites (i.e. Blooket, Kahoot, or other learning tools) to help engage the students and create a fun atmosphere. If you give it a chance, it's great. It will take a few months to get used to the system so keep that in mind and attend any learning coach/student support sessions.

I have been a teacher for 17 years and this is the most confusing, disjointed, non engaging curriculum and online program I have ever seen. I spend two hours a night previewing lessons just trying to figure out what exactly my daughter is supposed to be learning and how to make the curriculum make sense in any coherent manner. I have to download lessons as a PDF (which are not formatted correctly) then rearrange the lesson myself in a separate document to facilitate learning despite the fact that my daughter is above level in language arts and on level in all other areas with no learning disabilities. Some quick checks and assessments dont even relate to the concept taught in that unit. I withdrew her after the first week and enrolled in a new program.

This school was exactly what my daughter needed (graduated June 2022). She was able to work around her health issues and schedule and at her own speed. The teachers were also readily available and very helpful.

They do not care about my children or their ability to learn. They want my kids out of their school. It has been nothing but an up hill battle

This school has excellent structure, wonderful guidance for parents and students with the curriculum.

I have 5 kids, my 3 grown kids went through the brick and mortar public schools system.

Washington Connections Academy school curriculum is more challenging in a GOOD way, and the lessons are easy to personalize. When your child gets stuck on a concept, you have time to make sure they understand before moving on, which DOES NOT happen in Brick and Mortar schools. (Frankly, it seems like most brick and mortar public schools do not care if your child comprehends the info or not!)
There is plenty of staff to help when you or your child need it.

They have; field trips, P.E., counselors, virtual group lunches, art, foreign language, clubs, a optional parents contact groups, and much more just like a brick and mortar.

My kids did a lot better in this school, they were able to get ahead of there grade level without all of the distractions of a traditional class room setting. I am not a teacher, I have an AA in networking, anyone can do this! Don't be hesitate or think you can't. There is a lot of awesome things to say about this school. However, I won't drone on and I will finish with this.

I have many people I have met and other friends who are using this program for their children, this reviews on Great Schools does not reflect what I hear about this school from parents in the Connections Academy family. Furthermore, after 30 years of dealing with the public brick and mortars, and seeing how badly they are failing our children. I find it hard to believe that most of them deserve the scores they are getting. I believe the mass exodus of our schools is the TRUE reflection of how parents/guardians feel about the current climate of public school.
