My son started at 1st grade and now in third. He has learned so much and grown in character and confidence. We moved here from out of state 3 years ago and I can say this is by far One of the best elementary schools I have seem. The teachers are very friendly, lots of activities for the children. Dropping off and picking up your child is the best part because they are well organized and they know every parents vehicle.

There seems to be a lack of communication from the principals to the administration, and then to the parents.

There is no homework so no way to gage the effectiveness. We as parents were told that the school's "studies" proved that homework was ineffective.

Dropping off your child is a nightmare. There's no communication between the teachers in the "drop off zone" and it takes an exhausting amount of time to get from the main road to even be able to drop them off. When they're on time, even if they were at the school way before, but stuck in the hectic in school traffic, the child is counted tardy. I'm not happy with the parent being accused of making the child late when it's the haphazard way the drop zone is run.

My 2 kids go to BH and I've been really happy with their homework and education. The PTA is very involved and has good ideas for fundraising and supporting the kids and school. As most schools probably do today, the teachers address bullying and provide tools on how to handle/ report it. Regarding the parking lot issue noted by the other reviewer, BH made a change in April 2015 to the process and it's now GREAT! The principal is very involved and always working to make the school experience better ~ from test scores to kids earning/winning "pizza with the principal" to the drop off/ pick up major changes and improvements.

My daughter is in 1st grade and attended Kindergarten there. It's a nice school. They have lots of award program for the kids with incentives and really REALLY do a good job of highlighting positive behaviors in the kids. Seems there are a few cranky staff members (lunch lady, P.E. Teacher etc) but As far as the teachers go they are really great. Lots of parent involvement! The Principal is Very positive, high energy, go-getter... and so far both my daughter's teachers have been fantastic!! Nice facility but horrible parking lot and traffic on the street during the morning and afternoon drop off times. But that isn't the fault of the school. Just poor planning.

I enrolled my son here in 1st grade, he is in 3rd grade now. In last two years, the performance of this school is continually getting better. Very, very structured school, gives students very good direction. Teachers are very sweet, but demanding of their students. One of the best schools in the state of Washington.
