This school has very supportive staff and principal. The entire staff goes above and beyond for ALL their students. The school offers various clubs and activities for students outside of school hours. It is such a fun and engaging learning environment.

This school is nothing fancy. It's in a middle class, average Joe neighborhood. We are a Hispanic household & I dislike that this school is being penalized on its score based on not having enough low income students and not multicultural enough. They can't help their demographics. It should be judged on its ability to provide a quality education to our children and stop making it political.
This is a pretty decent school and
We love that they have a Spanish Emerson program.

Although our daughter has only been at Burley-Glenwood for a short time our experiences at this school have been absolutely wonderful!
Our daughter was a little nervous on her first day and starting 4th grade at a new school. (I was probably more nervous than she was) But from the moment we walked through the doors office staff and a couple of teachers recognized we were new and nervous and came right up to us and welcomed us. They reassured my daughter and really made her feel comfortable right away. Even the principal, Mr. Grant came over to us to give support and ease our anxiety with his friendly humor.
Mr. Grant is an EXCEPTIONAL principal. EXCEPTIONAL! He appeals to the kids with that humor of his! We especially enjoy attending the assemblies to watch his crazy, goofy antics and the way he has a special high five, a silly, twirly spin or a simple handshake to congratulate each child after they have received an award. But as he can be funny and silly and playful, he is also serious and committed. He means business when things are serious. And the kids respect him that much more. As do I. During my daughters 4th grade year (her first year at Burley) My daughter wasn't feeling well one day. When she tried calling me at that time I had gone to the store and left my cell phone at home and she got worried. Just as I pulled up into my driveway from the store, I see an SUV pulling in right behind me. It was Mr. Grant and Mrs. Seers. They drove to my house to give me the message that my daughter wasn't feeling well and that she was worried about me. They went above and beyond to help my daughter feel better. The fact that they would go to such lengths for my daughter speaks volumes! To me, it doesn't get any better than that!
I wish this wasn't my daughters last year there because we will miss Burley-Glenwood, the teachers and staff and the best principal we've ever known.

Our daughters teacher tests them on the subject of the homework at school then they go home, do the homework and the next day she tests them again to see how much they learned. That way she can tell what areas the kids need more help with.

At student conferences the teachers are very informative about your child's progress. Letting you know your child's strengths and where they might need a little extra help. They make sure your child gets that help at school and what you can do at home to help by providing websites to go to and resources to use to ensure your child succeeds.
You really feel like you are involved in your child's education. The teachers make sure of it and I love that!

The kids are awarded during assemblies for being respectful, caring, helpful etc. I feel this encourages the behavior by making them feel good about doing good.
