My son went from loving school to wanting to end his life. Teacher would say he was great to my face then treat him horribly to his face. 9 incidences of bullying and no action taken in 3 months. Finally moved schools when teacher refused to let my son go to the nurse with a ruptured tooth. Absolutely awful. Heard nothing but bad reports from other parents as well. Assistant principal was nice. My sons new school; he is now flourishing.

I am writing to provide feedback regarding my recent interactions with some of the staff members at West Hills Stem Academy.

While I appreciate the hard work and dedication of the faculty, I have noticed that some of them have displayed a negative attitude towards students, parents, and colleagues.

I have observed that some staff members are not as flexible as they could be in accommodating the needs of students and parents and other staff. It is important for the school to be responsive and adaptable to the needs of everyone.

In fact, out of all the staff I've interacted with, only half of them were kind and seemingly flexible with working with me. The other half seemed to talk at me. Instead of having an effective and respectful conversation, I left feeling scolded and unwelcome.

Furthermore, one staff member, in short, told me that asking for my name was trivial. I felt our interaction was disappointing and unprofessional.

I believe that it is important for all staff members to maintain a positive and respectful attitude towards everyone. This not only creates a welcoming and inclusive environment but also helps to build a strong relationship between the school and its community.

It says a lot about a school that doesn't want to help their community. There are cameras all over the school but they refused to help a community member to see if the cameras caught the theft of their vehicle on camera. I truly hope they don't find themselves in need of help.

Depressing situation in my estimation. Lack of parental involvement, too many behavior problems placed on teachers so teaching is handicapped.

Been the best school for my son. They go out of there way for the kids and parents. Truly recommend this school

Horrible attitudes towards kids who struggle. Yet won't punish the teachers but punish the student whose never had issues in any other schools and rates honor student

I am a parent of a 7 year old first grader with Autism. For the past two years I have fought them to provide my child with the proper special needs he deserves. Even after I gave them his official diagnosis paperwork and we implemented an IEP, they still suspended him for his behavior. When his therapist recommended they refer him to the Sequoia school affiliated with Kitsap Mental Health they refused. Their revisions on his IEP continued not to be successful until they assigned a para educator just for him. His behavior and learning only progressed when he was able to have a class with only him present. Then they took that option away because they "couldn't supply a place to do that". His attention and behavior declined once he was put back with other students. Now they deny his enrollment for next school year based on "attendance" and "behavior". The attendance was solely their choice to suspend him and his much needed therapy appointments. His behavior improved until they changed his IEP. This is discrimination and my child doesn't understand why he's being rejected. I am livid.

My daughter was a first time student at West Hills last year, from the first day of school I knew this was going to be a wonderful experience for not only my daughter but our whole family! Upon entering school on the first day the entire staff lined the entryway to greet the children, clapping, cheering and giving out high fives to welcome them back to school. To see such positivity in the teachers and other staff really gives us parents a good feeling especially because these are who our most prized possessions (children) will be spending their days with.
Most recently we made the decision to switch our middle school aged son from the local middle school to West Hills STEM program for 6-8th graders. We couldn't be happier with the team of teachers who head this program!
Unfortunately, my husband who is a government worker was recently deployed to CA and we decided it would be best for our family if we went with him. With this being said I cannot express how wonderful the ladies at West Hills have been aiding our family in this transition! I have 4 children and I have never received such positive help and guidance from a school as I have from this wonderful staff.
We love and appreciate you all, and we cannot wait to return to our homeschool in a few months! Keep up the good work, it's making a difference!

This school ignore's personal achievement, but rewards sub par standards by trouble makers. There's been a steady negative result on state wide testing, lack of concern for safety etc

This school is by far the best school I have ever been a part of. Preschool through 8th grade, kids get hands on experiences and learn how to be engineers. You will not find the problems of a typical middle school here: no drugs, fights, or bullying. The environment is inclusive and the kids grow up learning and believing they can be whomever they want!

I cannot say enough about the quality of education my children are receiving at West Hills STEM Academy. Principal Lisa Heaman leads with care and believes every student can have success. The teachers are passionate about what they are doing. They are innovative and teach with enthusiasm. After struggling at two other elementary schools in Kitsap County, my kids are thriving. There is nothing better than seeing your children excited to get up each morning, picking out their uniform with pride, and talking non-stop at the end of each day about all the exciting things they want to do when they grow up! They are being exposed to engineering and hands-on science, with monthly career excursions that ignite their minds. My son is a 7th grader with world views and enjoys in-depth discussions in History. He is exposed to graphic design and project planning, which has him considering school leadership. My daughter is in a 1st/2nd split Montessori class (available on the same campus) and is proud of her engineering and math abilities. I love that at 6 years old, she already talks of becoming a doctor. They are being taught how to make their dreams achievable.

We love this school!! I wish the rating on this site worked differently since there are so few reviews. Even though in the last 6 years, all were very positive except one, the score is low. The program is exceptional. Its very well rounded, but of course has a focus of STEM principles. The work is superior in comparison with their peers from other schools. I highly recommend this school.

My daughter has been at this school since kindergarten. This coming year they have decided to cut the inclusion special education program. I guess they don't want to lower their test scores or something. This is clear discrimination!

My daughter has attended West Hills S.T.E.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) Academy for 3 years. She is currently in the 7th grade and we LOVE it! This is the first school in the Bremerton School District and one of a few in the state to be a S.T.E.M. school. The school is currently expanding to be a Pre-K through 8th grade. There is already development to add a wing onto the building. The staff are highly qualified and the principal is top notch. They have great academic curriculum and a fabulous after school robotics club. I chose this school for my daughter because I believe that careers in the S.T.E.M. field is our future, and because I trust the staff and the principal at the school will give my daughter the skills she needs to succeed as an adult. I also know that they will treat her with respect and will take care of her when she is at school. I would, and do, recommend West Hills S.T.E.M. Academy to every parent in the Bremerton School District!

This is a great school my son learned a lot and was excited to go back each day. There is a lot of opportunity for the students there! The staff and teachers really care about the students. I would definitely recommend this school!!
