Not the worst but I wouldn’t recommend. The whole school tends to favor the younger grades/new families. Which is completely understandable but they got rid of our carpet because they “didn’t have enough money” but then the little kids get 2 whole new play grounds. The administrators/dean of students also favors the more “rich” kids when it comes to getting in trouble. RCS only wants to protect the kids that are known to be “really rich” and it’s dumb because those kids never get in-trouble even if they did something bad. I also once failed a class because a teacher lost my paper that was half my grade. I had to redo it 3 times because they kept losing it, and at the end i barely passed that class because of it. If you’re a new family, or a family to a younger kid going to RCS, it’s going to seem nice at first. In the end, once they get into RCS middle school, you will understand what I am saying. They’re better off in public school than this school. The teachers always say they “care about your mental health” but at the end they don’t, when you try to get help they shut you down. Better off sending your kid to private school so they don’t have to deal with all these bratty un-humble rich kids.

Lovely, fun and engaging school. I have loved the way they encourage students to participate in worship, prayer, and baptism class. They also make field trips so engaging by teaching Bible Truths along the way. The 7th grade camping trip has been on my list since 5th grade! I'm so excited to go!

Would never recommend this school. The administration fails to address any bullying, bad behavior, or school failings. The Head of School and Principal need to go. There are only a handful of teachers that are in it for the children at this school. If you want to avoid traumatizing your child and want to avoid a toxic environment, do not enroll your child at this school. Some teachers are not certified, are related to the administration/church staff or pastoral staff/ or to other teachers, and very few teachers actually teach a challenging curriculum.

RCS works hard to challenge kids to reach their whole potential. There are programs in place to serve students who need additional support.

Posted: July 26, 2019

RCS is proactive and responds with effective strategies when students make unkind choices.

Posted: July 26, 2019

Our experience has been wonderful. RCS has teamed with our family to promote an environment where my children flourish academically, spiritually, emotionally and socially.

Posted: July 26, 2019

Homework is a compliment to review from class.

Posted: July 26, 2019

Teachers strongly advocate for students. They go above and beyond. They see the whole child and care for each child.

Posted: July 26, 2019

Staff has training around respect in relationships. Collaboration is an important part of RCS both inside and outside the classroom.

Posted: July 26, 2019

Leadership is approachable and empathetic. They respond effectively and communicate in a timely manner.

Posted: June 1, 2019

Student grade went from a B to and F with no helpful solution

Posted: June 1, 2019

Reported bullying and no action taken, kid moved on his own

Posted: June 1, 2019

School condones bullying and teachers just wing the course material.

Posted: June 1, 2019

Homework is steady but not relative to tests

Posted: June 1, 2019

Homework grading is usually behind, makes it hard for parents to follow. English teacher grades on how much pleasure kids give her

Posted: June 1, 2019

If your student is liked by the teachers then it will be a fine experience.

Posted: June 1, 2019

Teachers promote mediocrity. A couple good role models like Science Teacher

Posted: January 17, 2019

I have not had any issues in bullying, just the opposite. Lots of love for my kids who are somewhat "different", in both good and bad ways.

Posted: January 17, 2019

There is a good amount of homework that is targeted to helping students develop skills and responsibility for their work. None of it feels like "busy work" which has been my experience at a previous school. We are new this year.

Posted: January 17, 2019

WE love the teachers and the emphasis on Christian values. We love the teamwork that is very evident at each grade level. We have 2 at this school now and the quality of teaching at both levels is by far better than our prior experiences at another school. We are very happy here. Teachers are supportive of parents.

Posted: January 17, 2019

The head of school is friendly and approachable. My kids came home and raved at how fun it was to dunk him in ice cream. Nice idea!

Posted: January 17, 2019

My kids do not have learning needs, so I cannot comment on this.

Posted: January 17, 2019

Moving to this school has been the best decision I have made for my kids. We were at a good school, but this is by far the better school and the money we pay has been worth every penny. Thank you, RCS!

Posted: January 15, 2019

The school does an amazing job at making homework a review of content learned in class. Real life application is the core of many assignments. Teachers do a great job at balancing homework and understanding that children have activities outside of school that they are interested in. Homework is an extension of classwork and does an amazing job at helping my student become a successful learner.

Posted: January 15, 2019

Teachers at Renton Christian School care deeply about each student. They look at each student as an individual. Learning and instruction has an intentional focus. My child has been given extra help when needed. Teachers do an amazing job at communicating with parents.

Posted: January 15, 2019

There are special weeks throughout the year (such as spiritual emphasis week) that focus on characteristics that are focused on doing what is right and treating all people with kindness and respect.

Posted: January 15, 2019

The leadership at RCS is amazing. The leadership is approachable and collaborative and really cares about the students and families at the school.

Posted: January 15, 2019

RCS has an intervention program that helps students who struggle and also helps students who could use an academic push. My child has done really well in math lately as a result of small group instruction

Posted: January 15, 2019

The school has had trainings that have focused on kindness and anti bullying behavior. They see bullying as a behavior that is not tolerated.

Posted: January 15, 2019

This is an amazing school. They care about the kids and the families. It is a community and we love it here!

Excellent. Very high scores in the standardized Terra Nova yearly testing. My kids continue to learn what it takes to be a person of integrity and character. My biggest fear is to not raise a disfunctional person and this school helps me as a responsible parent accomplish my goal.

I only have an exception for one teacher, who really should retire, we got papers back that were graded incorrectly, she is kind of rough around the edges, but she is teaching an early grade, so both my kids have had tough years with her, but it has not negatively impacted them long term, they toughed it out, and better for it.

Posted: April 8, 2018

I often have indepth and intimate discussions with him, so it amazes me, in that I never had these talks with my Dad.

Posted: April 8, 2018

My daughter has flurished in developing her leadership skills, lot of opportunities, so be encouraging to your kids, and they will learn to be an effective leader, though my son (2nd grade) requires extra encouragement, and has finally volunteered to perform a karate demo in class, small steps is what he needs right now.

Posted: April 8, 2018

Not my kids, but I have witnessed other kids that get/need extra attention, but beware this school does not have the resources or specializes personnel to address special needs kids.

Posted: April 8, 2018

This one girl was from a broken divorced family, and as I met the Dad I can see why she was a bully, she gets it from her Dad, this girl was huge, alot bigger than any of the other students in class, so from 1st grade thru 4th grade my daughter (and most of her classmates) were bullied by this girl, but after many bully discussions with my daughter and teachers a miracle happened, the bully became a nice girl.

Jr High has ASB, Assembly of the Student Body. They plan pep assemblies in this group, as well as making sure everyone is welcome on the first day. With us students not in ASB, we often leave a mark on the students that take our place from year to year.

Posted: October 11, 2017

I haven't seen anything with this, but I have heard that students with ADD have a special class in Jr High for them to catch up with their work.

Posted: October 11, 2017

Jr High is the biggest group that can be quite a bully. If you bully someone, that automatically goes on the Tear (Tier). It's basically our school's way of shaming bullies. Once you're on the Tear, you're bound to get a punishment. Lower grades can also be sent to the Principal's Office for bullying if someone tells a TA (Teacher Assistant) or a Teacher themself.

I rate it a 5 out of 5. This is my last year here, and I want it to count. The teachers are so friendly, and unique in all of their ways. They are so amazing. I recommend this school to ANYBODY. If you think the school is too strict, it might be the teacher, but I highly doubt it's too strict. The principal and secondary principal are both a delight to hang out with. BONUS: If a student behaves well or shows a Fruit of the Spirit characteristic, they get a cookie pass they can show to the office ladies, who will give them a cookie for each pass. Just once a day, though.

Posted: October 11, 2017

The teachers up in Jr. High do their best to make sure we have fun while learning. Sure, chaos might ensue in Math Class, what with everyone wanting homework, we have an excellent time, as we often play study games to get ready for tests.

Posted: October 11, 2017

They do their best to make sure we have a good time. They are very engaging, and are amazing and helpful in every way.

Posted: October 11, 2017

This school is called a Christian school for a reason. We are always reminded of what we do in favor of God, and we display it to everyone outside. Well, most of us, anyway.

I have 2 kids at RCS and have been there for over 6 years. The School provides an outstanding environment where the students excel and are taught from a biblical point of view. The parent involvement is outstanding and is a big part of the success of the school. Our kids are learning at an advanced pace and will be better prepared for high school and college. My kids are learning how to learn and building studying habits that will last forever. They are building a moral compass that other schools avoid altogether and recognize that this is a great country with more opportunities and freedoms than any other. They are taught that we honor those who gave their lives for our freedoms and we do not take them for granted. I love the small class sizes and the fact that our kids are held accountable for their work. Investing in my kids is the best decision I could have made, and RCS was the place to make it.

I have three daughters who attend RCS. One of them is in fifth grade and has attended since Kindergarten. The other two are in Kindergarten and attended PreK with Mrs. Krogh. The school lays an incredible foundation of faith for the children. Parents are strongly encouraged to be involved and at the school on a regular basis. The small class size allows much more one on one time with each student. I have found my 5th grader is much stronger academically than many other 5th graders who attend other schools. I have been thoroughly impressed with the school, the leadership and the family involvement! I also feel like RCS is very diverse and accommodating. I would highly recommend spending some time doing your research and visiting the school prior to making any decisions. RCS is an incredible school!

My children love attending RCS. The students behaviors is much better than public schools, the parent involvement is amazingly high, and the children's test scores on standardized tests are always above grade level and at the high end for all subjects. Because RCS is affiliated with New Life Church, it has access to great facilities and amazing youth pastor programs.

My children have attended RCS for the past 5 years and we absolutely love it there! The Bible is incorporated into all aspects of the curriculum and the teachers provide spiritual guidance, helping my children grow in their relationship with Christ. I feel my kids are receiving the best education both academically and spiritually! Once you get plugged in to some of the activities or volunteer opportunities, RCS feels like one big family. I'm so grateful that God has led us there! There are tons of ways to be involved with the school from helping in your child's class, going on field trips, assisting in the lunchroom and even helping facilitate field days. Not to mention, we have some amazing annual events like the Jogathon, Book Fair and an Auction fundraiser. We've seen so many awesome campus improvements over the past few years including a covered playground, new technology in the classrooms, a first class theater/chapel plus an upgraded gymnasium!

My sons both attend Renton Christian School. One just finished K-Prep with Mrs. Krogh and the other just finished 1st grade with Mrs. Fiedler. Talk about wonderful teachers. I just can't get over how dedicated the staff is to the kids. More importantly I can't get over how much my children have thrived while attending the school---they are learning so much both academically as well as socially and about others in the world. Their awareness of others and empathy for peers/charity has been such an amazing bonus. My Dad is a veteran and attended the Veteran's Appreciation Chapel and was so touched to have been acknowledged. He has watched the development of my kids and commented that, "Sending the boys to RCS is the best money you ever spent". High Praise. I feel so grateful to have found RCS and we absolutely LOVE it. Take a tour and you will see what I mean. RCS is amazing.

All of our children have been attending RCS since they've started at K-Prep, one has graduated. The teachers are wonderful, especially at the early elementary grades. They are nurturing and truly care and love their students. They have high academic standards and provide a good Christian education from a Biblical world view. Good small class sizes and great parent involvement makes this a positve place for our kids. I highly recommend RCS!
