We pulled my son out of public school halfway through the first grade as he was having some behavioral issues and did not seem to be progressing academically. We got him some additional support and enrolled him at Zion the following Fall. He has THRIVED here for the last 3 years. At the public school he was sent to the principal or counselor's office on a daily basis. At Zion, his teachers have been incredible in helping him to manage his behaviors and emotions. I feel like he is truly learning how to deal with life's frustrations and triggers. I can not say enough good things about the supportive staff that we've had at Zion. The teachers are empathetic, knowledgeable, patient, communicative and so kind. My daughter just finished her second year at the school and has a very different personality, so we've seen a versatile range from the staff on how they tend to varying personality types.

The school is small enough that my children are known, but big enough that there are plenty of extracurricular options to be a part of.

I appreciated the Christian values, bible learning and prayer that teachers weave through the curriculum and parent meetings. We love this school and highly recommend it to others in the area.

Our family has been enrolled at Zion for the past three years, and overall, our experience has been positive. Every school choice has its pros and cons, and ultimately, the decision comes down to what is best for your child at each stage of their education and social development. We transitioned from homeschooling, and one of the things we've appreciated most about Zion is the strong, supportive, community of both parents and students. The school encourages active involvement from families in the learning/growing process, which has been wonderful aspect of our experience.

One of Zion's standout features is the wide range of extracurricular activities available, particular for older students (usually 4th grade and up) though there are sometimes programs available for younger children after school. The sports, clubs and competitions outside of regular school hours are a huge benefit for my competitive kids. The programs are well balance, so all experience levels are able to participate.

Academically, I believe Zion is on par with public schools, and in some cases, may offer a more engaging learning environment. The teachers are passionate about making lessons interactive and hands on, which has made a noticeable difference in my kids desire to learn.

From a social and emotional perspective, while Zion does not have a counselor on staff, they have always done a good job addressing emotion, relational needs. Conflicts are handled thoughtfully, and with a biblical approach that emphasizes grace and problem-solving. Christan values are mixed into interpersonal challenges which I appreciate.

In terms of safety, Zion has recently implemented several new security measures and protocols, which, although unfortunate in today's world, are necessary. I am grateful that Zion has prioritized these updates and aligned with public schools to ensure the safety of its students, even as a smaller school.

A concern of mine is that not all families seem to be fully committed to walking out or living out their faith, despite the parent/student handbook requiring this commitment. It is unforunate when families seem to enroll simply to avoid public school, rather than embracing Zion's Christian foundation/teaching. While some of that may be beyond the school's control, it is something to note.

All in all, Zion provides a strong educational foundation, upholds Christian values, and fosters a welcoming and safe environment for kids

Thankful for Zion Lutheran School!
Our family was enrolled at Zion for 17 years, while our 3 kids attended Pre-k thru 8th grade.
We are grateful for the experience, education, and over-all preparation for each of our kids!
We appreciated the small class sizes, teacher engagement, care, and prayer support.
The school community is very supportive and engaging. School Spirit is shown in many areas including: Academics, Sports, Festivals, and Celebrations.
As Alumni, each of our kids have gone back to volunteer and work in various areas of the school!

Current weaknesses and leadership is affecting the school. Having children at the school for over 13 years I am seeing a decline in the quality of overall education.

My daughter joined Zion in the second grade through seventh grade. The teachers are so caring about every single student. One of the things I've enjoyed seeing at school is the way the kids interact with each other, from preschool grades all the way through high school, the kids laugh and play. The only reason we aren't enrolled there now, is an out of state move. The school was so hard to leave behind, as they helped shape my daughter's character and morals.

We first enrolled our son at Zion for pre-k, with no thoughts of staying full time. Now almost 10 years later, both our boys are still there, and we feel its the best choice weve made for them and their all around growth and well being. Theres been a couple times over the years weve thought, maybe we should give public school a chance, but could never bring ourselves to leave such a wonderful school. The education, teachers & staff, support, communication and community, at Zion are so valuable to our family!

We are so thankful for Zion Lutheran Christian School. Our children have thrived!! The teachers are so helpful and great to work with, they are truly invested in our children. It is such a breath of fresh air having such a loving and supportive environment at a school. I would highly recommend this school!!!

The community at Zion is exemplary. If you want to belong to a true family of parents and teachers working together to raise children, you can't beat Zion.

Zion is a wonderful community. They make you feel like you are family. My daughter loved going to school there. Teachers always took the the time to make her feel special and loved by God. I looked forward to hearing about what she learned each day. Looking forward to returning when we are back on the west coast.

While I think tur majority of staff was well intentioned, there are a few teachers that led with judgement rather than compassion.

Under normal circumstances, leadership was mediocre at best. Nice people, but not particularly forward thinking. The challenges presented by COVID merely brought to light glaring weaknesses in leadership, planning and adaptability. While other schools adjusting quickly to the changing demands, Zion remained stagnate.

Unfortunately this school has a very ' one size fits all' approach. There was very little academic variety, and teachers were quick to pigeonhole energetic students as 'trouble makers'.

Overall, mostly positive. Several of the teachers are incredibly compassionate, genuinely kind humans. Others, particularly the 2nd grade teacher and EA, were disappointing. Children, especially those that are academically thriving, should not be made to feel inadequate when they cannot meet unrealistic behavioral expectations. Children should be guided, not shamed. I am sad to say this was not always our experience at Zion.

My 3-year-old loves Preschool at Zion. I couldn't be happier with the teachers and staff, and I love it when he comes home telling me about his friends.

They may not have all the same resources as public school but all the teachers do what is best for each student.

Our boys have been attending Zion Lutheran since 2008, they are in 5th and 6th grade now. We did go to public school for "almost" one year for family reasons in 2014-2015 and it was a horrible experience. My children were just another number, the teacher wasn't capable of establishing and maintaining a relationship with her students and the principal was not an advocate for the children in her care. Quite the very opposite here at Zion. Excellent leadership starts from the top. Lynne (Principal) is filled with the spirit of Christ-like behavior, her leadership is with a calm demeanor who believes in teaching the child the same when a disciplinary action needs to take place. She has high expectations of her staff and as a result you have excellent, loving, caring and attentive teachers.
Your child will be taught as a whole body rather than just being taught to take standardized testing.

Zion Lutheran School is an amazing place to have your children learn a great education plan which also includes learning the Word of God in a Christ centered learning environment. The staff and teachers are very friendly and I love that the class sizes are smaller. Zion also offers a great art and music program as they put on plays and performance throughout the school year. This is a great and safe place to your children.

Zion Lutheran Christian School has been the best decision not only for our two children, but for our family as well. Zion is a *safe place* where we feel comfortable leaving our children for the school day. Zion has a strong sense of community because our parents are involved from the PTL standpoint to how we help the teachers in the classroom. Praise God for this gem of a school on 20 beautiful acres!
