I would like more homework but my experience was that I could ask for more.

My students teacher has helped my kiddo understand how to read peoples needs, how to treat others when they are upset, and what to do when they are upset as well. My students teach just gets it! Gets HIM!!

My son used to HATE his old school, fake sick, get in trouble DAILY. It was a nightmare for both of us and he hated himself quiet frankly he was always in trouble and he felt like he didn't belong. Now he LOVES school, really I know what? seriously? Tears of joy when he just said that I was astonished my son, LOVES it, the teachers from day one welcomed him and make him feel whole. He wants to go to school "I wish I could go to school on the weekends, and summers mom I LOOOVE my school". He says this school just makes me feel comfortable! I just truly wish there were more schools like this! I LOVE this school! They have made my son a happier kid and that is PRICELESS!!! <3

They don’t give any. Nor do they seem to do much work during the day.

They operate on a lagging skills model. There are no consequences for anything unless they are in physical danger.

Expect your child to be assaulted and pick up lots of colorful language. Swearing is a daily occurrence and also has no consequences.

Poor communication. Trying to be too many things to all kids, so those functioning at a higher level suffer greatly.

There are many great people here like the art teacher, ST and OT. The teachers didn’t actually seem to teach anything. I had no idea if my child was learning anything, and their IEP goals were written so low that they could basically do nothing and still meet them.

Time in class was basically dedicated to dealing with behavior issues, not academics.

My child was physically assaulted several times while here, but don’t expect them to do anything about it since they will claim that it is the nature of many of the other kids’ disabilities.

Awful. I will always regret the time we spent there. My child learned nothing academically, and behaviorally they learned more in months after leaving than the years we spent there.

Specialized school for children with autism and behavioral problems. Amazing program! Amazing teachers! Excellent education and a transition plan to help kids move back to their home schools when they are ready. All school districts should have a program this good, few have anything close. We bus more than an hour both ways for the opportunity to have our son at CHILD.

I was looking into the abyss with my very troubled teen with autism when another parent told me about CHILD. From the first moment I toured CHILD it felt different. They asked about my son's strengths! They had answers to questions, solutions for problems and hope never ending for helping my son. For the first time I was surrounded by people who knew so much about the things that got in the way of my son's learning and they displayed an unequaled passion for wanting him to succeed. The CHILD difference is they work their magic to find the thing or things that blocked my son from being able to connect with the world and to learn. They helped him move beyond his struggles, all the while building his self-esteem. Great school.
