Bullying, harassment and tormenting. Not even from the students but from the teachers and staff that I believed to be greeting my daughter every morning. My family was so happy when we found out we had been accepted into the Madrona K8. Me being raised a low income household and bad neighborhood, I especially thought this would be an awesome experience for her. Only after a couple moths of my daughter began to come home crying. Really just disappointed in the people they have working at the school and the environment they have created. Definitely excited for her to begin school at Sherwood Elementary down the street which Ive been hearing is much better.

One star only because zero isnt an option. This school is basically a social experiment gone wrong. Half the students act like theyre auditioning for a reality show, and the other half are too scared to speak. Cliques run the halls like its a bad teen drama, and if youre not part of the in crowd, good luck getting through a group project without being ignored. As for the teachers most seem like they gave up years ago. Most of them literally teach from a YouTube video while shopping online. Lots of them call on the same three students every class and glares at the rest like were wasting their time. I asked for help once and got told to Figures it out myself because it builds character.If this place builds anything, its stress and trust issues. They literally dont help with anything related to your mental health at all either. Pretty bad school. The only good thing about it is that it supports people with disabilities, hard of hearing, and deaf people pretty well.

I recommend applying as soon as you can. It's like a private school in the public school system - the principal is outstanding and all of the teachers and parents are so committed to making these formative years for children be extremely special. The academics completely turned my son around from failing at school to now having a 4.0 and loving high school. The teaching methods include a lot of real world experience such as reenacting 30 years as an immigrant which teaches humanities, writing and history together. It's also the best place you want your kid to go to Middle School.

Our daughter has been progressing significantly socially, emotionally and academically since starting Madrona this year compared to the other 4 years at her previous school. The teachers, staff, counselors, support teachers, school nurse and principal all have been supportive and welcomed her and us with open arms. I am so happy to see our daughter happy to go to school. Thank you!

This is a great school if you want your child to get individual attention, positive feedback and a more challenging academic program. It's like a private school in the public system. It's got more diversity and support Seattle schools. I loved our Seattle school, however this was a huge difference. When my kids moved, the teachers embraced them and they made friends right away. My son has a history of IEP needs all through elementary. He got twice as much support here and a year later is in general ed (plus skipped a grade in math). He was disciplined at his previous school, and his teacher wanted us to medicate him for ADD. At Madrona, his teacher told me (and him) what a joy he is in the class. At first my kids complained that Madrona was harder than their old school. Now my son voluntarily does his homework before it's due and asks for extra work. My daughter is reading and writing constantly outside of school. Kids here get individual attention from teachers, exposure to many physical activity options (organized sports before and after school), and the small school atmosphere is conducive for learning. I think it's a great small school middle school environment. Plus Edmonds school district provides many options for outside learning and community involvement.

My daughter has been at Madrona for 3 years now and we have been very happy with the teachers and the administrators.

This has been my school for many years and I am graduating from here soon. I am heartbroken because Madrona has many great teachers, people, and classes, and I don't think I would be who I would be today without these wonderful factors. I love Madrona from the bottom of my heart. I'll miss you!
