When we first moved here based on the reviews, I was worried to send my kid here. Now that she has graduated and saw first hand how it runs, I'm glad we did.
First, if your an engaged parent that doesn't believe the world revolves around your kid (your child is part of the world), and excuse their bad behavior, than your kid can thrive here.
Our kiddo took advantage of the West Sound Tech program and she loved it. She did her hard classes in her freshman, Sophomore, and Junior years so she could really enjoy her Senior year with less pressure.
She loved the art teacher and how he pushed each kids creativity. My kid was a teacher's assistant for the elementary librarian, and just loved her. On the downsize the class sizes may be a bit too large based on how several kids act out in classes. It feels like there is a small but growing culture of parents who enable their children's bad behavior and expect the school to accommodate it, and they (kids & their parents) throw fits if they dont get what they want.
I am not a fan of not holding children (people in general) accountable for bad behavior, and I do look forward to when the pendulum swings back center as a culture, but I'll leave it at this. If your child is respectful, does what is asked of them, and you are an engaged parent, your kid will do just fine here.

This school is an awful school, As a student speaking up for many, ive had a awful expirience here, the teachers act as if they are entitled to our respect when they treat us so badly. I am not proud to be a chimacum cowboy. They act like its okay to treat us with such disrespect. Most teachers there dont even teach us, they hand us a assignment and expect us to know it then get mad when we dont know it. My own mom has threatened to pull me out of this school multiple times for how poorly they treat us. I do not reccomend this school to anyone, Do not send your child to this school. Coming to chimacum was one of the worst mistakes ive made personally. Im writing this review because i see a lot of parents in the review section, we see your side of this school and your opinions yes, but are you a student? I believe us student should start speaking up. Soon, Very soon. Your child will be better off learning from home then at this awful enviroment

This school is a very fine school with low student to teacher ratio and well qualified and experience teachers. Definitely a premium school in a low cost of living community. Perfect for telecommuting or military parents. Small town community with large city type of education and sports experience.

Students will be placed in classes with others who know less/more then them in the same topic. Students that know more are rarely ever allowed to skip ahead or go for advanced classes, instead they'll just be placed in advanced classes without notice.

Most of the time fights will break out daily. Female students will often deal with sexual harassment and sexual assault, despite reporting it and staff being around.

Do not place your children in this school. The students here are either obsessed with sex, drugs, drama, appearances of others, or are outcasted and bullied. The administration does not care for its staff or students. Staff has been forced to teach multiple grades despite lacking experience. Students deal with bullying and drug abuse, and the female students deal with sexual harassment and sexual assault. Male students are often in fights which occur nearly daily despite teachers being around and there being cameras. If you report an incident, even if not anonymously, or in person, nothing will happen unless that student is already disliked by other students. For example: Reporting someone on the sports team for groping you without consent will result in at most a week long suspension and your reputation forever tarnished. Falsely reporting one of the quieter/disliked kids for being mean to another student will result in them being suspended for over a week or worse. Both of these are events that have happened in this school. Please do not place your children here.

Many of the teachers (especially the english ones) rarely teach the proper material needed for tests, and often unfairly treat students, or won't bother with discipline.

I am on my senior year of high school and it's been terrible. The only thing they care about is money. Since I'm a senior, I obviously need specific credits to graduate on time. They gave me the wrong classes and refuse to let me see the counselor so I change them until later on which terrifies me. They say that the schedules aren't flexible so you can't even get the classes you need. I have to pay like $80 to take tennis just so I can graduate on time. Don't waste your time with this school. They only want your money and it seems like they will give you the wrong classes on purpose to get it.

The teachers are great. They really care. The administration is only in it for the cash. My daughter was told she wouldn't be smart enough for running start, which she entered into with chimacums highest entrance score, then she was bullied by administrators for trying to graduate early, which she did with the help of teachers while doing private dance and being yearbook editor. She even had to write a letter on why she should be a senior in the yearbook while she was the editor of the yearbook.
