Homework is appropriately ramped up starting in second grade which prepares the students well for a college-preparatory high school.

Teachers are able to challenge each student as an individual, helping each student achieve their personal best.

Dr. Matthews is a caring, supportive principal with a lot of Catholic school leadership experience behind her - all the students have a personal relationship with her and are as likely to go to her for guidance as another staff member. She truly creates a warm, caring atmosphere.

St. Michael's Catholic School provides an excellent Catholic-based education through small class sizes and individual educational goals for each student. The way the blended classes are handled is brilliant (i.e. splitting them up for grade-specific instruction, which creates an even smaller/highly focused class environment when learning some of the more challenging subjects). The staff, starting with Dr. Matthews vision, is truly vested in creating a positive, classical learning environment and our family couldn't be happier with our children's experience so far. One thing I would really love to see happen is the addition of a dedicated art program.

Two teachers in particular stand out as especially effective. Mary Anne Murphy has demonstrated over and over her ability to teach with a great degree of differentiation, managing students with both supplemental learning needs as well as those with the need for enrichment. Maureen Blum also has demonstrated great ability to not only teach material, but make the material relevant to the current day and "real life" for her students.

Depends upon the grade level - the middle schoolers tend to have a bit of a heavy load. The lower grades however are just right.

Students are taught to value one another as people, put integrity and hard work into their studies, and own their own mistakes. Our children have learned to value opportunities for all of the students in their cohort, apologize for wrongs and work together with their peers to find solutions.

The teaching staff is a complete joke. Many come with a lot of baggage from previous schools.

Homework is virtually nonexistent and when you ask for more the teachers get upset. It is a glorified public school.

No, this school does not develop honesty, integrity and fairness in its students. The make-up of the student body does not allow for that to be possible, in tandem with a principal who does little to create an environment that encourages student accountability.

Academics are subpar. Blended classrooms do not provide enough grade specific learning. Teachers are stretched thin, and do not have enough support. Many students have significant behavior and mental health needs that the school cannot support, yet the principal insists on taking kids that make the learning environment difficult.

Thank you St. Michael School. Watching what is going on in the public school system today, I know my children ARE getting the education I want them to have. They are safe and the teachers and priciple want the best for my children. Plus I get a say in my childrens education.

My children are in their second year at St. Michael and they absolutely love it. They thank me on a regular basis for making it possible for them to attend.
