I'd say average because 9th and 10th it felt like family because our principal at the time was Mr. Aarstad and he was making sure everyone is okay and would find a solution if students were getting bullied he treated you like family and he was involved in assemblies and played the games at the assemblies with us. I came in crying one day because I was having issues at home and I wanted to talk to someone, Aarstad was getting ready to leave for a meeting and he saw me and said he would be willing to miss the meeting to talk to me, also they're was only 1 or 2 fights that happened when he was there. But now that Mr. Robinson is principal ( he isn't even involved in literally anything) students acts like they are the baddest and most dangerous people ever there has been literally 10 fights this year and it has only been half the school year, he doesn't talk to you if you have a problem he sends you to the vice principal who's doesn't do anything either and the way they both talk to parents and students is disrespectful.

We don't have any homework unless you fall behind or don't do your work at all.

I am a graduate of this school and I attended grades 9-12. I graduated early because I attended an optional summer program. It's funny to read the reviews and hear the school has a lingering bad reputation. If you see a group of "trouble makers" using the same path, it's likely to believe that to be "the bad path!" However, what these kids cannot realize is the expelled kids from AHS or RHS will also get expelled from West Auburn if they don't change their attitude! For sensitive kids or kids with too much life experience for their age, I highly recommend West Auburn. Perhaps West Auburn doesn't offer advanced classes in chemistry or math, but kids who attend this school will get the one-on-one attention and acknowledgment that builds the needed confidence to move on and fulfill their academic potential. I credit this school for providing me a "way out" and giving me a sense of control of my life direction. Alternative school is not for everyone, but those who are burdened by and not flourishing in classic high school settings will surely benefit. 5 stars to the teachers who sought out this alternative environment and continue to make a difference in our lives! Thank you!!
