Very bad area at night, noise from cars in winter, rain water, risk of flooding.

This is a great high school. My cousin went here a while back and now works in the school district and only has had good things to say. One thing that's great and rare is the incredible diversity. There is also a new building as of a couple years ago. Auburn "takes care of its own" as one neighbor told me when I moved in- we look out for each other and vote to fund education properly. The teachers and staff on up to the Auburn School District Superintendent are caring and hold kids to a high standard. There are a lot of great programs offered and I'm not sure why Great Schools is giving this school a low rating because the school is excellent academically as well, perhaps the demographics are working against the school? If you are considering this area and school I'd recommend it. The only thing that should worry you are lahars from Mt. Rainier ;)

Teachers have FAILED my child since day one of coming to this school district. The teachers at Au High, will allow your child to fall behind and never email, txt or call you with concerns. But when YOU start asking the questions That's when they get defensive. It's a joke.

I only had him for a year, but the new principle seems to care about his students. Strongest example is when a friend was doing his senior prank and brought his guitar+amp to the balcony, the new principle let him finish the song lol.

Definite Yes. The staff dedicated to special needs are dedicated themselves, and compassionate. The special needs kids are also present day-to-day which lets the a chance for other kids to gain a respect for them. Going to this school it was Not Cool to make fun of special needs.

Can't really say one way or another. Personally I took some of it, I guess, but perhaps it's just part of learning how to not be annoying to your peers. I never saw anything particularly viscous.

Good school. Lots of kids are in really tough spots (that isn't always apparent) which lowers the graduation rate, but it makes for a stronger student body. Not a vague experience, and exactly what I needed.

Yeah. I mean, it's homework. Lots of group-based projects though that actually teach you a thing or two.

Mixed bag, as always. Some people are meant to teach, some people aren't. I can say though this school has a group of excellent individuals that teach for the sake of more than just pure education.

It's a diverse school, just like the real world, and in more ways diverse than just the pure demographic. If you go to this school you learn how to live and work with people not like you. This is supported by the teachers, but taught by growing up here.

We have one student graduated from Auburn High and one currently a Junior. We have been pleased with the variety of programs, quality of education, and diversity. Auburn High is like the real world all social economic situations and race backgrounds. The facility itself is in need of updating, but this does not impact education. The school will be replaced over the next three years as the voters have approved the funding. The principal at the school cares and is active. So is the Superintendent for the district. The have a solid sports program that emphasizes academics.
