The Maple Hills school and community are fantastic. If you're looking for a close community of individuals, high engagement from parents, teachers and staff, and a smaller more intimate school feel, this school is 10/10. As one of the smallest schools in the district (~430+ students) there is that closeness that you get at Maple Hills that other parents/friends of mine do not have in the Issaquah School District. My kids love that we see their classmates in and around the community, whether at sports events, local camps/clubs, parks, etc, which adds to this special community.

Maple hills is a good school. Programs for kids who accel and kids who need help exist and are available. The leadership is competent as is the staff. The school does not stink nor does it have rude secretaries. Parent PTA membership is literally 100% (really, it is in fact 100%) An excellent mentorship program (Dads of Greats Students = DOGS) is run every year where fathers volunteer as role models. The school is being renovated (aka the district cares for its facilities). The teachers are as good or better than I have experienced in the Mercer Island and Bellevue Districts (that I attended), which are respectively the finest districts in the State, and hence effectively in the country.

I went to inquire about this school since we just moved within the boundaries. The secretary was horrible! Apparently I talked to the wrong one, which she curtly informed me. The one I talked to was the principal's secretary. I asked for clarification about something and she stated "I am trying to tell you but you aren't listening!" She is at a different school this year but the episode left me so shaken that I ended up enrolling my daughter at a different school.

The school seems to have a committed faculty. Teachers, principle, counselors and students attend meetings to develop learning plans.

Homework seems to be an acceptable amount with good instruction.

Teachers have been open to suggesting and open to requests from learning plans.

This school is awesome!! My son started this school in Kindergarten and is currently in third grade. The teachers are very attentive and want children to succeed. If children are under performing the teachers and staff make every effort to help and it shows! I am so happy to have chosen this school.

This is absolutely a horrible school. I feel bad my oldest child had to suffer through this miserable environment. The current principle is driving this school into the ground. Because this school offers the least diversity in the Issaquah School District, anyone who is different stands out. Children with disabilities are often bullied and treated poorly by the staff. Not to mention the smell of rotting garbage inside and outside the building due to the adjacent composting facility. I actually met a family whose child with high test scores living close to the boundary of MH that was offered $400 a month for "gas money" to switch to this school. The family pulled up to the school to check it out, and smelled the air, and rejected the offer. I believe the district must be desperate to artificially prove this is an acceptable school. It is not!

We love this school and especially Ms Kardong. She is the most amazing kindergarten teacher!

Not good....staff do not care about your child and all of them are always un-happy. Look elsewhere...
