This school sucks all the teachers are increadbly mean and dont teach me and yell at u for stupid things and the pricipial made it so we cant use backpacks and there is too many students in the halls and im always pused and when accessing my locker i get hit in the head and they expect u do do multiple thingts tha take to long to do in the 4 minute passing period like use the bathroom, use my locker and travel the whole school. I havent learned alot there

This is wonderful school where our kids thrived. The staff goes above and beyond and really cares about the students. Great arts and sports programs that get all the students involved. It is a great place for a kid to explore their interests.

Too much homework given by some teachers, and administration refuses to set a standard. Often no observance of IEP. Homework given without classroom instruction.

A lot of wonderful teachers who really care, and handful who are absolutely horrible and should be dismissed. Some have been at Maywood for years or even decades and have a reputation that parents hear about in elementary school.

Teachers work to instill these values. Unfortunately, their efforts are often undermined by the administration.

Terrible administration. Another reviewer stated that they are over-reactive. Discipline is punitive and has no value in teaching kids not to repeat mistakes. No thought of ever giving a kid the benefit of the doubt. Grossly exaggerated punishments for minuscule offenses. Im shocked that they continue to get away with it. Actions of administration have been very detrimental to my students, who are generally well-behaved kids.

Again, some teachers are wonderful, most are acceptable, a few refuse to follow an IEP and administration will not support the student. Counselors are very dedicated and truly care about the success of students.

There are many caring educators at Maywood who strive to reach each student and support their success. I would not say the same of the administration and, unfortunately they set the tone for this school. I wish my students had had a different middle school experience. They were treated horribly by the a administration here. Again, I cant imagine how they continue to get away with this behavior.

The only leaders are kids who act nice in front of their friends, but then they switch that act after the teacher leaves.

The teachers tended to be pretty good and they are very helpful and overall, the school is good academically but I do have one problem. The school is very over-reactive. Not to long ago my son had his phone out during lunch and he got it taken away for the day. Keep in mind he has had no history of any wrong doing at the school and is doing well academically. He later received 5 demerits for his action which resulted in him getting multiple lunch detentions, missing out on school activities and was removed from assemblies all because he had his phone out for a couple of seconds. Ridiculous.

There is a lot of bullying at this school. Kids are posting risque pictures of themselves on social media.

They have too much homework and not enough direction on how to help parents help the kids. They expect 6 graders to be self directed.

I have had two kids attend Maywood Middle School. I had to pull my oldest child out, due to their lack of working with him with his IEP. My younger child has been struggling as well. She has good grades and works very hard, but the teachers don't seem to care about the students, which makes her very discouraged. She use to love school, but not anymore.

This school is great BUT one science teacher refused to give me a science textbook to study from for a test and I got a F on the test
