I began attending Jefferson High School in 2022 with hopes of growing academically, building friendships, and preparing for my future. Unfortunately, my experience was cut short in 2024 due to harassment, bullying, and institutional failure after I came forward about being sexually assaulted by a male student.

When I bravely reported the assault to the principal, school staff, and the resource officer, I expected safety and support but instead, I was met with silence and disbelief. No proper action was taken to address the situation or to ensure the safety of others. Instead of holding the perpetrator accountable or requiring him to get help, the school allowed him to remain on campus without consequence.

After coming forward, I was harassed both in person and online through Snapchat, Instagram, and even by strangers who called me a liar without knowing the full story. The emotional toll was devastating. I lost close friends and my support system, and the school made no effort to support my mental health or well-being during that time.

In the end, I had no choice but to leave Jefferson High School and pursue my education through a GED program. While my time there ended painfully, my experience has only deepened my commitment to standing up for others who feel silenced. I know my truth, and I will continue to use my voice to advocate for those who deserve to be heard and protected.

3 kids in Jefferson county schools. First one made it out but not unscathed by the high schools practices and the vindictive behavior of its teachers. They blame students and say they just dont do work or show up for class but in the same breath cant answer as to why they are behind on posting grades or their performance as teachers.
We Ended up pressing the second 2 them into JRTI (James Rumsey Technical Institute) for their last 2 years of high school. A way better option by far. One of my kids also has a learning IEP and needs classroom assistance which has been a joke at the high school level at Jefferson. Do anything to avoid your kids having to be here. Even if you can get them a half day elsewhere- do it.

I have two kids that currently attend JHS. The school has quite a few problems, kids smoke/vape in the bathrooms all day and nobody does anything about it, teachers allow horrible profanity, there are mice in some parts of the school, the D wing stinks of sewage when it rains, the secondary gym is old and musty with terrible ventilation. The kids are not allowed enough time to go to their lockers between classes so they have to lug ALL their books all day. The school is unable to plan lunch time so kids have enough seats in the cafeteria so some kids have to eat in the hallways sitting on the floor.

While doing virtual the teachers barely spend any time instructing, my kids maybe get a couple hours a day. The teachers do not follow their own plan to assign homework for the week on Monday but rather do it haphazardly. The teachers seem lazy and not vested in properly teaching during the shutdown. Instead assigning busy work to make it seem like they are doing something.

It was pretty good, I enjoyed the teachers but some of them gave too much homework.
