It is very infuriating to know that a child can get called racial slurs and instead of taking proper disciplinary action towards the perpetrator they punish the child being bullied & discriminated against. No child should have to endure this kind of discrimination let alone being punished for something they did not do/say. I would rate this school 0/5 if I could. It is unfortunate to know the safety of my loved ones is in jeopardy and they cant even feel comfortable in what is supposed to be a safe learning environment. However all they are taking away from this is how Wildflower supports racism.

When reading these reviews please be careful. This is for a school in Arizona, not the school in Chapel Hill, NC. There are 2 problems here, the bad reviews are obviously about The Wildflower School in Chapel Hill,NC. The same review is posted on their site. The other reviews are NOT about the Wildflower school in Chapel Hill,
the reviews outline things that just wouldn't make sense to the school in NC, but new parents may not understand that and just see a lot of good reviews. The good reviews are about the other school, or possibly other schools. There are many schools called the Wildflower school, there is also a Montessori company called Wildflower schools which is over many schools. Please don't confuse these reviews. You can get a very screwed picture of what you are looking for if you confuse the two.

The leadership is very disorganized. Teachers can change sporadically. They can't keep teachers for a full year. The school has an amazing property and building but it's completely up to the whims of the director as to how they are used. There was at least 2 days with 1 teacher in charge of 15 kids 2 and up. Some days the kids are left in the hot and some days they are sent indoors. The school is very chaotic and needs a better director.

Classroom settings are very rigorous and caring, no child is left behind. Student's are able to express their concerns when it comes to their learning. Teachers make sure that students are always being challegened and accomadated.
Admin is very much involved in the every day activities and having that communication with students and staff.

I just had to share. This is the first time in a long time that my so has ever said something like this.

This weekend he told me, Mom, I dont want 6th grade to end. I love Wildflower, its just a beautiful school and I really like the teachers and I have friends.

It made me cry happy tears. He had struggled for a few years after moving to this area and than we made the switch to Wildflower. What a difference!

You all are AMAZING. Wildflower instills pride in the kids and teaches leadership skills

Im thrilled with the staff and the education my children receive at Wildflower. The Principle and V. Principle know each child by name...theres something to be said about that! The teachers show compassion towards the children while having high expectations. There have been added safety measures to keep the kiddos extra cared for. Further, during these times of COVID, they have increased the level of cleanliness. Weve had a terrific experience over the last three years at Wildflower.

My kids LOVE attending WildFlower so that means I love that school as well just because I know they are comfortable and the safety-ness of their surroundings. All staffs are very welcoming and they care for the students as if they were their own kids. Education is beyond amazing as well. I would highly recommend this school. Proud WildFlower PARENT!!!

WE Love WILDFLOWER! Each and every staff member there shows their love and passion for reaching each child. Our experience starts before we even enter the school grounds. The crossing guards always wave, smile and welcome each car that passes by no matter if they are dropping a student off or not. The teachers show a great deal of care for their students and their academic successes. No matter what grade our child is in the former teachers make sure an continue the previous years relationship. This definitely creates the family feeling we experience at Wildflower. The staff who engage with the children during meals are just as welcoming and caring. From Administration down the entire staff at Wildflower make sure the children feel welcome and apart of the family. They push the children to do their very best and give them the tools to do so. Excellent school and would definitely recommend.

Highly effective, for sure. The group of teachers that are combined for the 7th and 8th graders seem so in tune with their students. I noticed this during the parent teacher conference for first quarter. I appreciate that when there is an issue, the communication between parent and teacher is open and prompt. Even the communication between student and teacher is great. I like that the teachers and staff are always open to listening to my son if he has a concern.

We have greatest kids. Full of compassion and respect. I couldnt be more thankful for the positive influence the staff and teachers have had on my son throughout the years hes attended Wildflower. Never fails, my son is greeted with hugs and excitement during the meet the teacher night at the beginning of the year by Dr. Montoya and other teachers. Its just a reminder to me that my son is in the right school. In my opinion Dr. Montoya has always had high expectations when it comes to respect, integrity and showing compassion. In this the kids have really pushed to be stronger leaders encompassing those core qualities.

Leadership is amazing at Wildflower. Hands down one of the strongest features that both the staff, teachers and students exhibit. Its obvious that there is an expectation for the students to always be leaders. And the staff and teachers all lead by example.

The volume of homework is always appropriate and seems to be relevant to what my son has been learning in class. I love that hes not lost and knows how to complete assignments on his own using the information his teachers gave him.

Absolutely, my child was bullied at another school in this district. Really bullied out of the school. Wildflower took her in and she has acclimated very well, is an excellent student, she is thriving in this environment.

Overall mine and my childs experience has been nothing short but great! I have told Dr. Montoya whatever they are doing they need to bottle it up and give it to the other schools in this district. Whatever she is doing at Wildflower is effective. The staff should be very proud that they have achieved excellence.

They have a no bullying tolerance policy. Which i appreciate since my daughter was bullied at her last school and the principal there did absolutely nothing!

Best decision i have ever made for my kids education. This school is amazing, When my childrens school abruptly closed down they not only made accommodations to allow my daughter to attend in the middle of the school year but they made room for any other child that needed a school to attend. Dr. Montoya and her staff are very friendly and very supportive. My daughters teacher (Mrs. Moorehead) is very responsive and was very supportive in getting my daughter caught up to speed on where they were in their class- as my daughter may have been top of her class at her last school she was far behind in her transition. She has since caught up and fits right in. Dr. Montoya was also supportive in getting my son in the school once he passed his early entrance test and now this year he has my daughter old teacher (Mrs. Moorehead) and I can not be any happier. A special Thank you to everyone at the school for just being YOU! Definitely an "A" rated school.

My 3rd grader has been part of the gifted program since 1st grade, this is her first year at this school and in my opinion this is the first time I see an organized gifted program in place. Gifted students meet with Mr. Brokschmidt once a week after school and participate in various activities and complete projects to challenge their unique minds.

Enough to hold them accountable at home but still is not overwhelming for them. They have plenty of time to actively participate in after school clubs and dance/sports outside of school.

My three daughters, in Kinder, 3rd and 5th grades, just finished their first year at this school and couldnt be happier. They all had great teachers and were always challenged to do their best. The school offers several after school clubs as well as tutoring for kids to participate in. My 5th grader joined the photography club and my 3rd grader joined the art club and had meetings once a week with the Gifted program. Good behavior, attendance and academic growth does not go unnoticed, they have quarterly award assemblies, 100% club, and incentive field trips for students to get rewarded. And in my experience this really motivated my daughters to do their best!

This school is amazing from the teachers to the secretaries to the administration. Such a friendly atmosphere, eager to help your children grow and excel. I highly recommend bringing your kids here even if this school isn't in your zoning

Wildflower is a school in blossom. The students are taught by wonderful teachers who respect, care, and nurture their students. Teacher work hard to make sure the students are understanding the lessons the students are being taught. Administration is always open to listen to your issues or concerns.

Wildflower is a small school but a little Gem of a school. The staff and Principal have worked hard to get the school score up to a B, not just by pushing the aims test but by introducing new strategies and techniques to help the students improve. The plus of this school is that it is a neighborhood school and the availability of the teachers and enrichment programs makes it easier to get are kids more actively involved. Whether it is with art, music or sports the students have the opportunity to find there niche or just experience something new. Improvements I would like to see would be in the cosmetics of the school buildings and playgrounds, as the school is over 10 years old and is starting to show wear and tear. Also, more parent involvement which is very limited, more activities could be planned and implemented for our students if more parents would take an active role in volunteering.

Wildflower is a wonderful school, Front desk staff are always friendly and very helpful and they always smile and have a great attitude. Principal is very helpful and is always willing to talk with parents. Teaching staff care about the children and they make learning their top priority. I am also kept up to date with my kids progress by phone and email. At anytime I want an in person meeting the staff make themselves available. The principal is Awesome and fair and really cares about her students. Currently I have 3 children attending this school and I am very happy with the school. When my son was in Mrs. Nuness class a few year ago she was the best teacher he ever had. Mrs. Nuness has a caring heart and great teaching method. The Principal is Wonderful and Shari Gray is a very caring and wonderful educator I am thankful for Ms Gray and Dr, McMillie.

Wildflower is a fantastic school that has made an incredible turn around over the past 3 years under the direction of Dr. McMillie. My children have been "Wildcats" for 6 years and they have had some phenomenal teachers. Wildflower is a "Kids at Hope" school and the motto - "Everyone can Succeed No Exceptions" holds firm and true with the climate of the teachers and learners. My children (5th and 8th grade) made tremendous growth academically this pass year due to the dedication of their amazing teachers and my children's ability persevere. The school is small and unique. The office staff is kind and courteous. Always willing to answer any question and very supportive. The campus is clean and newly updated. My son was involved in Student Council and the council is award winning and focuses on Community Service. The school travels to D.C. and has an active NJHS charter. The SPED department is outstanding. The PTO is growing and needs parent volunteers. The campus is safe and provides a caring atmosphere. I highly recommend Wildflower School.

Wildflower is an amazing school. My children spent the last 6 years with a caring and qualified staff. The office customer service is outstanding! The principal believes that all children are capable of success no exceptions along with the rest of the staff. Academically phenomenal, both of my children were highly successful on their AIMS this year. I am very pleased with Wildflower and reccomend it .

We love this school and the staff. Our children are learning so much and there is so much going on at this school. There are many after school activities including after school tutoring. They have sports and a drama club. My daughter is in band and she loves it. The standards are very high. We came from out of state and I was nervous that my kids would be bored. In fact they actually had some catching up to do!

My children go to Wildflower School for 4 years now. I've loved this school from the beginning and each year they get better. The new principal is trying to get students and parents more involved in the school and I think she is doing a wonderful job. The staff there really care about the safety and education of our children. I have 1 more child that will be staring kinder in 2 years and he also will be going to Wildflower.

I really like this school. The teachers and the principal are great. I think that they really care about the students. I feel that there is a lot of good communication between home and the school. On another note, I wish that some of the older posts here could be removed. It isn't fair to judge the school on what happened three years ago or more. The standards are very high and the staff expects a lot from students. I want my children to do well and learn. Students need to work hard and parents need to work hard with their children.

When my son started Kindergarten, he was at a charter school in the area that had received 9/10 on this site. It was horrible there. The staff was rude, and the 5/6 year olds were taught in a very militant manner. Awful. We pulled him out after 2 months and moved him to Wildflower, which was only a few blocks away from our new home. The staff is amazing. The office staff knows who I am when I walk through the door, and they are always helpful and pleasant. His K teacher was outstanding. It was very evident she cared for her students, and I couldn't have picked a better teacher for my son. For some areas of improvement, I wish there were more opportunities for parents to get involved on the school level, not just helping out in the classroom. There aren't really any extra curricular activities for the younger kids, so those have to be supplemented with clubs not associated with the school.

My kids really love this school. It is small and they get a lot of extra attention. The teachers really care about the kid. The front office staff is nice and efficient. It is clear that the staff really cares about student safety. I'm very happy to be able to send my kids to Wildflower School.

This school has exceeded my expectations by far. I was a little concerned with the previous reviews, but I haven't had ANY of the same experiences. I have two children who attend Wildflower and have been there since Kinder. Every teacher has been amazing (and I have a high standard for education workers). My son had special needs in Kinder and 1st grade and is also a part of the gifted program. Both these programs are commendable, and serve to compliment the fantastic education experience they get. I don't mean to sound judgemental, but I noticed a lot of the poor reviews were older, and were poorly written. Perhaps the issues have since been resolved, or perhaps the parents didn't place a high enough value on education to work with their children at home. I've noticed a high correlation between the parents who take time to be involved in their child's education and the children who have positive educational experiences.
