I am actually really pleased with crown. it took me a while to decide on a school for my kindergartener since i didnt want a full 8 hour day. they offer a reduced schedule from 8-1:30(which to me is perfect for such small kiddos) plus they accept kids that dont meet the bday threshold of turning 5 at public schools before september 1. she initially struggled with separation anxiety but was doing awesome academically so the principal and teacher allowed her to have a further reduced schedule until she adjusted. after christmas break she was a different kid. she loved it. she loves her teacher so much. they also have a ton of fun events like fall festivals, field days, field trips and school dances. Academically I'm even more satisfied. it is march and my daughter is reading pretty fluently, knows about 500 words, is doig quadruple digit math, and has jsut grown tremendously. their curriculum seems to be pretty good(i dont have much else to compare it to but my daughter has learned tons!) they give homeowrk everyday, which i like bc they need to practice to fortify the teachings. the only complaint is i wish i was able to communicate directly with the teacher instead of leaving messages at the front office but aside from that i will be returning next year.

We absolutely love Crown Charter and everyone we have interacted with. Our son is not only excelling in school, he is excited to go every single day. His teacher has always been super supportive and great with communicating. The front office staff (Mrs. Lydia) knows every student by name and all of their parents. She is such a ray of sunshine every single morning and is absolutely the heart of that school. We can't wait for our daughter to start this coming year as well. The staff already knows her because they not only get to know their students, but they make a great effort to know their families as well.

Crown Charter is an amazing school!! All four my daughters have gone and go to this amazing establishment. Three of my daughters have already moved on one has graduated from ASU with a Psychology degree, one currently enrolled at ASU premed program and I have a eighth grader at L. Thomas Heck Middle, who scored the highest on a benchmark test for all of 7th grade. Which was her first year in a traditional school. I currently have a third grader enrolled here who is excelling! She is reading and spelling at a 5th grade level. Every teacher at the school knows every child's name speaks to them every morning and makes them feel loved and welcomed! My three oldest daughters went onto traditional public schools and were in the advance and magnet programs all from the core education that they received from Crown Charter. Mrs. TC maybe tough but she knows what she is doing so dose all of the staff. Your child will receive private school education for free!!

I took my kids out of public school halfway through the year and we landed at Crown charter school in 2022. I feel like public schools are more like babysitters, because my kids have learned so much more from going to Crown. We were at Verrado Heritage public school and my second grader was telling me that her teacher was talking about the coronavirus and Joe Biden all day long. It upset me because those topics are not for children and I don’t appreciate teachers indoctrinating my children with their views and mainstream agendas. My Kindergartner learned how to read, do three digit math problems and my Second grader learned cursive and got really comfortable with math as well. Crown math program exceeds any school in the valley! This is a family oriented school and my kids loved it!

I am so thankful for Crown Charter School. They have created a bit of a niche for admitting kids with birthdays after the usual cutoff. Many of the kindergarten students turned 5 in October. It was very frustrating to discover that our public school district refuses to admit these kids, even if they test gifted on a Brigance assessment and read years ahead of their expected level. Crown allows these kids to test in if they agree beginning school will be in their best interest. For that I am eternally grateful. However, that does not mean that Crown is just babysitting kids, as a different reviewer claimed. If you are sending your child to school early just to save money on babysitting and expect Crown to rubber stamp them to the next level without any real expectations of learning or character building, you are making a grave mistake.

Another thing I really appreciate about Crown is their advanced curriculum. Kindergartners write short paragraphs, add/subtract (no regrouping) 4-digit numbers, and learned to skip count by 5s and 10s during the money unit. Homework lets parents know what the kids are learning. Children will be expected to stay on task and put forth effort to learn, and it sounds like most of the discipline results from kids not getting their work done. Many kids with birthdays near the cutoff may not be ready to sit down and actively learn the advanced curriculum, but at least Crown provides the opportunity for those who are.

The teachers and ancillary staff are so positive and dedicated. Thank you! Crown offered a choice between in person or online school during the pandemic. That flexibility had to be difficult to pull off. It is true that much is taught by paper and crayon/marker/pencil. However, they still had holiday crafts and parties, zoo field trip, and even art week with guest artists. Crown went above and beyond over fall break when some of the teachers volunteered to have "camp" for a few days so kids could experience some more in person learning after online learning was required earlier on the year. I truly believe Crown tries to instill positive values in students, and they provide kids with a great opportunity to learn.

I would never send my child back there. My child is in now in a kinder class that the kids are excitedabout and provides many fun and educationallearning tools aside from strictly paper and pencil.

I was bullied relentlessly at this school. Two years by this awful boy and his friends. Only when he was caught blatantly kicking my shins bloody in front of a parent was he reprimanded. Two years by this girl and her cronies. They decided to "deal with it" by making me hold hands with her an entire lunch period, and she bullied me worse after that. I just had to leave

This school is a great school for my child. It shocks me how anyone could say such negative comments about the teachers or the staff. They are professional people and I am sorry for others that may have nothing better to do than COMPLAIN! They usually are the ones whose children are naughty and/or they don't get what they want. This is a choice school-take your children and go somewhere else so that the rest of us may continue to go to the best school and have the best students around. As a parent I am extremely heartbroken to find how unqualified and ill equipped this school is. Our children are not being offered a good education at this school. Students are given grades they haven’t earned, uncertified teachers, unqualified administration, aides being allowed to teach and tutor our children, and answers being changed on AzMerit tests to make the school look as if they are actually teaching our children. Students deserve quality learning and this school just doesn’t offer that.

As a parent, teacher, and community member, I know the children of the West Valley deserve a far better educucation this Charter provides. Reviews are correct in stating 1) technology is decades behind neighboring districts, 2) there are zero research-based teaching methods or curricula used, 3) there is in fact high teacher turnover 4) the compensation is not close to other districts 5) there are no benefits (health care or AZRS contributions).
It seems quite odd, numerous perfect reviews would be submitted all on the same day, late in summer break. Even from parents.
Honestly, they read like the same individual...just an observation.

They REALLY put in the time and the work for their students! Our granddaughter went to an absolutely awful charter for kindergarten and as a result, was far behind the Crown kids in 1st grade. Miss Michelle worked so hard all year to try to get her up to speed with the others. The teacher communication with parents is outstanding.

Crown Charter is one of the best schools I have ever worked for. As a new teacher you never really know what you are going to get until you are in the trenches. I can say without a doubt that the administration, fellow teachers, and parents are nothing short of amazing. The administration is extremely supportive and really listen to my thoughts/concerns and treat me like my opinions matter. The fellow teachers are AMAZING!!! We can brainstorm together and figure out solutions without anyone feeling like it’s a competition or their ideas are unimportant. Crown Charter staff actually works like a group instead of each teacher on their own, which may sound silly, but it happens more often than people think. As a staff we have meetings every morning therefore the communication between staff is outstanding. Moving from Oregon I was really nervous about the school system in Arizona but Crown Charter has exceeded my expectations and I am proud to say I teach here. I see a long and happy career here in my future!

My student receives a H.W. packet every Monday which is due on Friday. Along with the packet there are specific instructions and examples so that I know exactly how to assist my son with his H.W. which makes the process a lot less frustrating and easy to accomplish.

Parents and or Crown Charter teachers responded here that the give students sufficient work as copying spelling words, using them in sentences, copying definitions, completing multiple computation problems. I could go on; it appears to be pretty low level academics, just drill. It is touted that their youngest of students can solve multiplication facts and multistep addition and subtraction. This is all fine and well, however research has shown students must be able to be complex problem solvers, thinkers and have foundational conceptual understanding.

It is my understanding charter school teachers and administrators do not require certification. As a parent I would want to know the qualifications of the adults that take care of my child. As a parent you are within your rights to request certification documents and education records of your child's teachers and admin. All schools should have exemplary, research based curriculum, up to date technology AND educators that are skilled. It is imperative that each nurtures children and instills a passion for learning.

I would concur with a number of reviews that the leadership is lacking. The owners of this charter (this is a business) in fact treat staff and children abysmally. On this very website, it states that the average educator salary is about $24,000. What qualified individual would want to work for that? Neighboring districts easily offer a qualified, experienced teacher about $45,000. This would include a comprehensive benefits package.

My child has learning disabilities, instead of being met with help and compassion. he was isolated from students and his class for not completing papers he didn't understand. HE WAS HUMILIATED BY STAFF AND HIS TEACHER. The teacher never communicated with us and kept my child from recess and activities. When my child asked for help they called him a baby and told him to figure it out on his own. You are not allowed to know the curriculum in order to help you child either. Switching school was the best option for us. If you have a child that doesn't suffer with learning and attention issues you will be fine at this school.

My family just arrived in Arizona not too long ago. As a military family, it is very important that when we settle in a new location, that we find the best school for our children. The first and only school that was recommended was Crown School. We have had our children there for about 2 months now and we can only say that we are more than thrilled with the curriculum and how our children are treated and respected at this school. We have even noticed a positive change in their attitudes towards school. The administrative staff greeted us and welcomed us to what they referred to as the "Crown School Family" and let us tell you, that it definitely feels that way!

My son was just accepted into Kindergarten for the next school year. My son didn't want to participate in the assessment at first. Dr. TC was so sweet and took my son under her wing. She took him around the campus and introduced him to the teachers and staff. She made him feel right at home. My son said his favorite part of the assessment was all the nice teachers and staff. He keeps asking me when he can come back and see the nice teachers. Thank you Crown School for making us feel right at home.

At Crown Charter School, we develop well rounded academic and activities to help our students grown and learn to become compassionate and caring people. We recently took our students to the Wildlife World Zoo, and each child beamed with excitement to observe their favorite animals within their habitats. Each child was able to ask questions, and learn new things about our earths animals. The students would mention how wonderful it was to be able to see, enjoy, and learn about each of the different animals, and visually see what is inside their "natural" habitat. While on the trip, they were conscious of their noise level and respect towards the staff and animals at the zoo. Because of our caring and educating techniques, these children are applying their school rules to the rules they live outside of our campus.

This week our kindergartners went to the zoo. This is always a fun and exciting trip for us every year. With so much help from our parent chaperons, the joy and excitement on those little faces brought so much joy to our hearts. THANK YOU PARENTS!

They loved so many exhibits. They said they didn't know there were so many different kinds of monkeys. They were ecstatic that the white tiger was right in front of them and jumping up on the fence for them to see.

This is one of many wonderful things that our school does for our children and every year the excitement builds more and more.

This was my first year teaching at Crown Charter School, and it has been an amazing year! My second graders and I embark on a new adventure every single day. The amount of fun my students have while learning, is a beautiful sight to see! Recently, we went on a field trip to the Arizona Science Center. In preparation for this trip my second graders learned all about the brain and their digestive system. As I began both these lessons, my students were sitting on the mat, titling forward eager to hear what I was going to say next. On the day of our field trip, every student was excited to learn more and see different things. When we arrived at the science center, they were excitedly yelling out, "We learned that!", or "Look at this"!. As a teacher, I was overwhelmed with joy watching my students run around with such excitement to learn more. I truly believe that the way we focus each and every lesson around having fun, makes a huge difference in the way our students learn. I love coming to work each and every day. I leave work with a smile on my face knowing my students learned something new, but also had fun!

As a first year teacher, all of the other teachers were very warm and welcoming. Each teacher has the students' education as their first priority and the time and effort put into each day really shows. Crown Charter School has a great group of teachers, and the staff is always friendly and helpful.

First Grade just went to the Wild Life World Zoo this week. They were mesmerized by all the underwater creatures and different types of fish. Our children couldn't wait to get to the sea lions exhibit. The train ride was awesome our students had the opportunity to get up close and personal with the animals in their habitat. It was a successful day at the zoo.

Only school I've ever heard of that takes a child to a lower grade mid year. Most schools try to help child achieve goals and if can't by end of year will repeat. This school will not attempt just put back mid and and say sorry just to hard for this child.

They don't give homework, they feel students should do work at school, but when child struggles, parents can not help because have no idea what they are working on. When ask for samples they don't work with parents to move forward. Childs best interest not at hand.

Unstable. They go through teachers like crazy. They do well with younger students. They should get rid of teaching 6th grade all together and maybe bring in pre-school. Older kids classes are a joke. If you want to loose your mind with owner send your kids here.

This past year has been great at Crown for our two children. The kids come home telling us about all the great times they have in the classroom. They both loved their teachers this year and we love how they are learning and engaged in what they are doing. Bravo Crown! This school is truly #1; our children's smiles show it everyday.

My second graders skills have grown so much this year. In second grade the world of creative writing is explored even further. The children learn how to dig deep to enhance their sentences with beautiful, exemplary descriptions of how one may feel or think about a situation. I am very proud of them all. To see 7 and 8 year old children create stories that are so full of life is amazing! This skill is developed in each grade level beginning in Kindergarten. Crown Charter's methods of teaching children truly work. Most importantly, the quality of education given to all the children is truly paramount and difficult to find in other schools.

This school is horrible. None of the staff know what is going on. I have never gotten a correct answer from anyone. There is zero communication allowed with the teacher. You can call and leave a message to have the teacher call you but they never call you back. None of the notices sent home are professional at all. You dont get notified if Infectious stuff is going around the school. There is no school nurse, no physical education, art or music. The parent teacher conference is done in the middle of a "family day" at the lunch tables. The school is dirty and rundown. They have the office ladies teaching classes and "tutoring" kids. They are nice to you until you tell them you arent going to pay them anymore. Please do not send you kids to Crown Charter.

We are extremely proud of what our students have accomplished, the enormous parental support, the dedication from our teachers, and of course, the tremendous hard work from all our wonderful students. The Department of Education gives every school PRACTICE AIMS TESTS which every school uses. Our tests like in all schools, remain locked up until the first day of testing. Someone wrote a comment about the AIMS scores, let me tell you as a former teacher there. The teachers look at the AIMS test before they give it to their students (They are not allowed to look at the tests). Then they go back to their classes and redo their lesson plans and teach what is on the AIMS test. So that is BS on the scores for this school. Trust me, I know.

My child is just entering Kindergarten and it has been an OK transition. Being new to a charter school, the 'closed' campus is a new concept for me and uncertain how I feel about not being able to have lunch or walk my child to class. I am also not able to walk and pick up my child from their Enrichment Program class. This is one thing I would say is completely different from a public school, especially for a Kindergartner that is just starting a school system. There also has been a teacher change within the 1st week of school. Noticed sent home mentioned the previous teacher deciding a new career path (strange that a career path change can be determine in one week) Would have been nice if the school organized a 'Meet the Teacher' day for us parents and students prior to having a new teacher introduced to class vs having a note sent home the day before. Hope this is just a small bump in the road and will be hopeful for a great year.

What a wonderful school. This school put on a "Kids Rock Concert" and didn't even charge admission. The Concert was outstanding. The look on my daughter's face was so precious. Her eyes were wide with excitement and she was right up front with all the other kids singing along and dancing. I couldn't quit smiling. Ms. TC is the greatest! She did this for our kids. She is always doing something good for thiem. I volunteer at the school and I see how much she cares and gently encouraged the children who were having difficulties and she taught me how to tutor them. There are hundreds of parents who are very pleased with Crown school and I am one of them. Volunteer and you will see how good Ms. TC is to the kids and the teachers. We love her and the school. I am a Kindergarten Teacher at Crown Charter School. I have been at Crown for 8 years now. It has been a great journey for me. Thanks to our wonderful curriculum director I have grown so much and am now a Master Teacher. I have been able to see ALL of my students succeed. At this school we DO NOT leave not one child behind. We work at every student s level. This year, my students finished the school year reading at a first grade level. They were adding up to the thousands!! I took my students a step farther in creative writing. We came up with a word bank together and these Amazing students wrote their own creative story about a picture. It was amazing to see.

Part 2: We reinforce phonics and we do choral reading everyday to ensure that our students feel confident in their reading abilities and never feel put on the spot to read in front of the entire class. Our reading groups are fun and keep the students engaged! By the end of the year, my students were multiplying and dividing by sevens and had amazing cursive handwriting! I am so proud of every accomplishment that my students make that I can t even focus on just one! Every year I spend time looking back at the previous class and remembering all of the fun we had playing games and learning. It is so great to see them grow and excel in school and to see that they have found that love of learning that I try to instill in all of them.

I am currently at the kindergarten graduation and it is a complete joke. The principal is yelling on the mic during the children walking because of the lighting, this wasn't organized properly. The principal went on with a speech saying kindergarteners are not able to read, but they have such standards their students can read.. Every public school teaches their children to read beginning at kindergarten. I am so disappointed my stepdaughter completed a school year with crown charter. I can tell the bad reviews are honest and I will never recommend this school to any parent.

My daughter went to Crown from K-3rd grade. There were a few issues here and there that were annoying, but that's going to happen no matter where your kid goes to school. There was a specific incident that happened in 3rd grade that made me change my mind about returning for 4th. I have her in Corte Sierra now and I would seriously like to cry. She learned so much at Crown and every one of her teachers made sure she understood everything. She excelled at reading and math. The education from Crown is phenomenal. The director is rough around the edges I have to admit, but at least these children are disciplined and are taught respect. The education from Corte stinks. There is a lot of foul language and bullying and I don't know how many times she comes home telling me if she doesn't understand something, she doesn't get help from her teacher. I have talked to three other parents and they said their child would have been better off staying at Crown. If the director wasn't there, we definitely would be.

I wrote a negative review about this school in January. I did not mention any names, nor did I write anything that was not true.However, I can't find my review. I wonder why? Is it because this school does not want negative reviews? I would not send any child to this school that I loved. All they do is worksheets.Those work'sheets are not from any adopted textbooks. There is no art, PE, music. They think technology is playing games in the computer lab.There is not even a working library for the kids to get a good book to read. The science and social studies programs are basically non existent, and my friend's child has gone through over 6 teachers this year. The other room has gone through at least three IN ONE GRADE LEVEL. I will check on this website periodically, and when I see the review gone, I will write another one. I was going to send my child here, but after I started digging, I took my child elsewhere. As far as volunteers are concerned, they only want you for working at their PLANNED activities. Just try to go in and sit to watch your child. Oh, and by the way - they make the kids sit with their seats facing the wall so that the kids can't even see the teacher.

Does anyone else find it suspicious that for ever bad review a good review rebutting that previous bad review shows up? I don't put it past the school to be fling them out themselves as they use this website as "selling point" to new parents!! Sure their aims scores are great.. That's all they teach is reading and math! Any student getting 8+hour of only two subjects would produce good scores

Part Two: Kids get benched at lunch for talking for 10, 15, or even the entire 30 minutes for lunch. Not every child is going to have beautiful writing so degrading them does not encourage them to want to do better. I have helped with activities and I have seen my share of unethical procedures from some of the staff, administraters, and the owner as well. While Crown does show great test scores you need to be VERY involved with your child at this school and listen to the things they tell you. One of my children has been bullied by the same kid for 2 years now and on more than one occasion I have been forced to step in and take action. Kids playing four square in class, balls being thrown accross the classroom while other children are still tring to complete their packets for the day..and the teacher does nothing. BE CAREFUL at this school. Do not believe everything you hear. If your child was doing well someplace else and starts to struggle here there IS something else going on.

Look at the aims scores. Compare to other schools. People complain about art and PE. They are their to learn to read and write not art. My kids excel well beyond ds in the same grade at other schools. I noticed a lot of other reviews on petty issues. The aims scores say it all

To the parents saying there is no parents allowed in campus for volunteering, I know that's not true. I get flyers sent home with my child on a regular basis asking for parent volunteers for all sorts of special occasions. They also have told me that if I ever would like to see how my child is in class, they have cameras set up in every room for added security and observations. Honestly I like the fact that you can't come strolling on campus whenever you like...safer in my opinion. My child is doing very well in class, she reads, writes, and does math at levels I didn't do until I was in 4th grade. Amazing academics. The only downfall is I wish there were extracurricular activities such as sports teams or clubs and I do feel that there is a communication block with teachers, but the lady up front always helps out with any problems. Otherwise, its great. Oh and before you write a bad review on a school, you should probably make sure YOUR spelling and grammar is correct. It doesn't look so good on your part. I have NEVER seen the police at the school. If they were there, my child would have said something for sure, if the school didn't notify parents first.

This schoold does an outstanding job focusing on your child's education! I was very happy with the level of education my son and daughter received. My son is now in all honors classes in his middle school. Out of convenience my daughter now attends Palm Valley Elementary . Next year she will be returning to Crown....she is regressing at PVE. At the end of 1st grade at Crown my daughter could read at the 4th grade level and was able to do mulitiplication. Right now at PVE they are doing the work she did as a Kindergarter an Crown. Not too mention I love that Crown only asks for the parent participation. All they want is your time! They only ask for supplies for your son or daughter. They do not send home a bunch of flyers with your child advertising businesses. There is no need for a PTA because they staff and teachers do a very good job communicating with the parents directly! Good job Crown....we will see you next year!

If you care about your kids keep them away Crown School. They just care about having more students; more students, more money. The administration is awful, the teachers are not aloud to maintain a good contact with parents. No email, no phone number, and just one parent- teacher conference a year. Some teachers are not highly qualified. The owner of the School is rude with the staff and students. I saw her once yelling to a teacher in front of the students, and also grabbing and pulling a kid arm. They always have issues with the police related to students. They love to punish students for anything. The curriculum doesn't have enough Science and Social Studies. There is no PE, art or music. The school doesn't follow the AZ core Standards when they are supposed to. It is a complete mess. It looks ok, but the reality is different.

This is a terrible school to put your kids in. The only reason I kept my son in here because this is the only school that he can go since he didn't turn 5 yet by Sep. 1st. There is no communication what so ever with the teachers. They are mean but if you complain then your kids will be suffered. The only thing they are good is sending you a reminding notice if they don't see your money first day of the month. I was so frustrated with this school and was so glad that my kid finally got out of this horrible school

Academically this school is above average so I give them kudos for that. Unfortunately when you have a child who has behavioral issues related to a medical problem things become a bit sketchy. They have no problem sending home negative character reports, however when you try to get your child medical help they do not report the truth on forms asked to be filled out by the doctors. They do not approve of any behavioral medications for children. We have wasted endless hours trying to take our child to different doctors, psychologists, etc. with little help due to the schools reluctance to do the right thing. Integrity and honesty is important. If you state our child has issues, please don't try to be the doctor and figure them out. That would be practicing medicine without a license which is against the law. If a child has asthma or diabetes, I am sure they would not withhold treatment. The negative stigma associated with behavioral issues is unfortunate and unnecessary. We will be doing the right thing, and giving our child the chance she deserves. Unfortunately, we will have to take our child out of this school in order to get her the help she needs.

If you love your children, don't let them go to this school. I have written commets on here about what happened to my child and they keep taking them off because it's the truth and they don't want parents to know. I saw it with my own what happened in the class with my own eyes not only to my child but to others in his class regarding the pricipal. She is two-faced and fake and verbally abusive. I've written letters to the educational board and the charter board but of course nothing has been done. Don'ty take your child to this school.

Parents you may want to look into another school asap. My husband is attempting to place our child with another school for location purposes. Every school we have tried is trying to put our child back a grade. I wondered how can this be she has gotten straight A's every year going to this school. The 3 placement tests from three different schools wonder the same thing. I am just so hurt I don't know what to do.
