My kids love this school. They have lots of friends and they are always doing something after school. What is a plus for us is free before and aftercare and free bus transportation.

By far the best school to take your children to. My three boys all attend Heritage and we couldnt be happier. The Teachers are all wonderful, and so is the rest of the school personnel. They have a ton of activities throughout the school year for the children and their families to be involved in. The office staff know each child/family and go out of their way to make sure every child is happy/safe. The free after care program is also a perk. I highly recommend this school.

Ive had no issues with this school. I have not heard of bullying in this school which is a big concern to me. Staff knows most of the students names which makes it a very tight community.

This school, while I'm sure has some excellent teachers, has too many deeply rooted systemic issues that have a significant negative impact on children. I put my son in there for a change of pace from the public school system and it was nothing but a nightmare from the very first week.

I can only speak to his 6th grade teachers but it appears that some are more interested in issuing pink slips and lunch detentions for things that should be handled in class and mostly for nothing more than being annoyed. As an example, his homeroom teacher issued him a lunch detention because he raised his hand to ask a question about an assignment. Why? Because the teacher could not get his class to be quiet so he could hear and because my son called him on it as the reason he was asking, he was rebuked and punished. Luckily, there was another teacher who overruled that one but that is but one of many examples.

Again, he adored most of his teachers but the few that are more concerned with pink slips than doing their jobs had a significant impact on his grades. The principal and vice principal are ineffective and show little or no objectivity. They label things as they see fit and again are more interested in punishing kids for being kids than they are in educating them. To top it off, there is no communication between the teachers and parents.

Student confidentiality and privacy are a joke since they are more than willing to divulge confidential student information in public without identifying whether or not that person has a right to the information in direct violation of federal law (FERPA). When brought to the principal's attention not only did he NOT do anything about it but rather, he tried to justify it.

I am not a whining parent of a problem child who refuses to deal with his child's behavior; quite the opposite. While he isn't perfect, he has NEVER hated school so much. Since transferring to the public middle school, he is A's and A+'s is all his classes, gets frequent compliments from his teachers on his behavior, and all enjoy having him in class. He is happy and is enjoying school again with NO discipline problems. Kid or school? I doubt it's the kid. Unless you have no other choice, keep your kids away from this place if you care about their success.

Ms. Warren has been an exceptional teacher since my son started Kindergarten this year. She is always accommodating to my emails and her replies are always pleasant. My son has nothing but good things to say about his teacher. We are blessed to have a fabulous and caring teacher!

All the teachers seem great! They are personal with the students and you can tell the students aren't just a number to the school. Once again I am amazed at the interactions I see between my daughter and the majority of the staff we encounter.

I love this school! They have really met and exceeded all of my expectations in a school. They are constantly doing fun activities for the kids and everyone I have dealt with have been great. Their before and after school programs are such a life saver too! My child loves it and I can be at work in peace knowing they are being taken care of.

I love Heritage! The teachers are very nice as well as the bus driver. My boy loves the school and he LOVES P.E. He gets excited every Thursday because he knows he is going to have PE class. He says that the teacher is nice and makes the class very fun. Even though he says he loves his teacher and likes the school, I was very worried because his reading was not good at first, and being in 3rd grade he could be retained because of AIMS- without me saying anything to his teacher she enrolled him in Title I where they are giving him extra help with his reading. He says he likes it too!! Win, win for us! The communication with the teacher is great. She contacts me for everything- and I love that! The only problem I have is that the bus picks him up at 6:30am- that is a little early for us but we can deal with that.

Great school! My daughter started coming to Heritage when she was in 1st grade. Coming from a district school It was such a huge changed for her and for us. We loved it since day one. Now she is in 4th grade and we are still very happy. Teachers care so much for the students- not only parents can see it, but the students can feel they are loved. My third grader LOVES school too! They both have improved so much. They have so many activities for them. As a working parent, I love that when I pick up my kids from school, they are done with homework. The after care program is truly a blessing to us. Thank you Heritage!! We love you

I am divorced father and I am trying to do what I can to be apart of my kids lives anyway possible but this school has treated me bad and does not let me have parent teacher conferences nor interact with my kids in class activities. It got so bad to where I had to called the super Intendent in charged and it seemed as though asshe as going to help me out but in the end she ended up have their attorney write me a letter about harrassing them at there. I am not here to cause problems I just want to see how my kids are doing in school. The Professionalism of this school has been the worst I have ever seen when your a divorced parent. They have no guidelines to follow and they assume to things in your divorce decree by restricting you to do what they want not what the decree says. My kids are going there again do to the mother so we will see what this year holds 2014-2015

As you can see from the reviews most of them are from teachers saying how great the school is. As a parent let me tell you that this school is nothing but bad news, my oldest daughter started here in kindergarten and I pulled her out in 8th grade. I keep telling myself things would get better but they never did. For the past several years this has been a poor rated school and they got told that if theu didnt bring up there tests scores then they were gonna close the school down. Well low and behold theu got there act together and got a b rating last year. The b rating came with alot of change all of a sudden they wanted to crack down on the dress code, mind you they were uniforms. The principal and vice principal dont communcate and you have to go back and forth between the too. When I finally decided to take my kids out of this awful school, like a earlier review all the principal kept saying was that this is a business and he didnt want to lose 2 students. I was so thankful to finally get my kids out of here anf wish I had done it sooner.

A lot goes on that this school that is not very good. Even the transportation dept is a joke. School is 10 mins away from my house and the would keep the kids on the bus for two hours before they finally got there. When we finally pulled our kids out after many years of not being to happy the Principle had the nerve to say that he doesn't want to lose the kids this is a business and they need all the enrollment possible. They have a free aftercare program just to rail in parents that are stuck between a rock and hard place. Few years ago you had to pay enrollment went down so this is something they did to get enrollment back up! Great to run your business! I thought schools were suppose to be safety of children and education for children not a "business" I was floored that the principle would so that to a parent. Shows what they care about at this school. List can go on and on.

It is great to have such an excellent school in Glendale for kids. The teachers really care about teaching your child. Heritage Elementary offers transportation to and from school. They also offer a free before and after school program. Under the Leadership of the current administration Heritage Elementary has improved by leaps and bounds from a D letter grade to a B letter grade.

Academically this school is pretty good. However, they have unreliable buses. They break down a lot! And there are so many kids on one bus, that it takes 2 hours for my kids to get home. Today the bus broke down, and they didn't get home until 6pm. I have complained about this the past few years, and it hasn't gotten any better. I'm currently looking for another elementary school to put my children in. So disappointed.

I am a teacher at Heritage and have been for a few years. My experience teaching here has been pleasant so far. I feel supported by the principals in everything I do. They give me freedom to teach and they do their best to help me whenever I have a question. I love the kids and seeing their excitement everyday when then enter my room. I am sure teachers at other shoals may say similar things about their kids, but I know Heritage truly has a safe and stimulating learning environment. With this safe feeling that Heritage kids have it makes them happier, and therefore easier for a teacher to manage a class of 25.

I started off at Heritage Elementary School as a substitute teacher and have been a full-time teacher for the past 3 years. I am extremely happy with all of the changes here at the school. I have seen the school grow through character counts, after school activities, and Galileo test scores. The school has also included a Pee Wee sports league for our younger students. The teachers are dedicated to their students and make learning fun. Our administration is interested in seeing the teachers and students are successful. An overall view of Heritage Elementary School in Glendale, AZ is that we are on our way to being a B. Keep up the great work!

Hi, I've been a 2nd grade teacher at Heritage for over 10 years and I love it here. It is wonderful to have a family of students each year that enjoy coming to school each day. Each students strives to achieve their personal best, and we have a lot of fun along the way. I've had the great opportunity to see many of them daily right through their eighth grade year. This is very rewarding. The teachers and staff excellent and friendly.

This is my third year teaching at Heritage and I couldn't be happier at any other school! The staff here are positive and team oriented and truly have our kiddos' best interests at heart. Every year I've been here I've seen exciting improvements being made. We have more Specials (Music, PE, Art, and Computers) offered. We've improved our technology with new laptops for every teacher and a computer lab with laptops for every student in my class. Our athletics department is amazing, offering Track, Football, Volleyball, Soccer, and Basketball, and our Cheer group is one of the best in the city. We offer parents and students a free after school program where students can get help with their homework and have a free snack before getting picked up. We have created pacing guides for every grade level to assist in implementing the new AZ Common Core standards and have regular Galileo testing to keep students on track to be successful on the AIMS. We have adopted the Character Counts program to educate students on their conduct and raise the caliber of their character. There is a wonderful feeling of family and community at Heritage and I invite you to come and see for yourself!

My daughter started kindergarten this year at Heritage and she LOVES it! They have a free after-school program (that I love) and if I come to pick her up early she gets upset because she wants to stay as long as she can. She has already learned so much in just a few short months! She's already writing her first and last name and knows the sounds that all of the letters in the alphabet make, and is beginning to recognize sight words and sound out words she sees on signs as we drive in the car. Her teacher, Mrs. B, is the BEST! She's so kind and patient with the little ones. Their academics and character building is top notch!!

Heritage elementary has gone down hill. Teachers are not teaching. The bulling in that school is by far the worst not only with the students but the teachers as well. They don't have a good leadership and Dye is no good. I am so glad that this year I have decided to remove my children as well as my friends. The negative of this school will go from mouth to mouth . Research other schools that you decide to put your children in. Just a concerned parent.

I am a teacher nearing the end of my 3rd year at Heritage. I love teaching here. The administration are really supportive and I feel we are heading in the right direction academically. We have identified areas to improve upon and have set goals to make sure that happens. The facilities are awesome and the sports program offers a variety of options for multiple grades to participate in. We are especially competitive in boys and girls basketball and football. I have had the opportunity to coach and have had a blast getting to know my students outside of the classroom. Overall I am very pleased with my experience so far at Heritage. We have great support form the front office and teachers that care about student growth.

I have been working as an aide for 38 years and have never had the pleasure of such a wonderful school. The staff is awesome, the facility is gorgeous. We even have 2 gyms. Other factors are free bussing and free before and after school care. I am proud to be a part of Heritage Elementary School.

This is my first year here with my son. He is in first grade and so far so good. A few hiccups but nothing huge. I really love the instruction given and my son has really excelled. So, I would recommend this school to anyone. I believe there is a lot of heart here.

I am an 8th grade student that has been at Heritage since I was really little. I came here from a not so good school, so I know the difference a great school makes in kids' lives! Things at Heritage were good when I started, then got bad a couple years ago, BUT NOW THIS YEAR IS AWESOME! Last year was pretty good, too! My friends agree with me that HERITAGE FALCONS ROCK! The school lunches are even better than they used to be. The teachers treat you like you're an actual person, not just a troubled teenager. They listen and care how you feel and help you understand better. We get to participate in fun activities and our sport's teams are pretty good. I have some friends from church that go to other schools and they're always complaining about being bullied and kids that do drugs, but not here. I am kinda popular, so I would know if this stuff was going on around me. My parents are both real involved in my school so they know alot of the teachers and staff that have been here a long time and they respect them. If anything is ever just a little bit wrong, the VP or the Pricipal take time to work it out with them. The only thing that I would change if I could was to add 9th grade! :)

Wow! I am not surprised, that they are flagging negative reviews. Reviews that are not inappropriate for any reason, just factual about the school, and they dissappear. I thought this was a web site I could trust to gain factual information reguarding schools, but like everything else I guess not. Some one is always able to get their fingers in and make things appear how they want it to. Just check out the test scores of this school compared to others since someone is clearly altering the reviews!

My kids love this school!! I have a kindergarten (KG-G) and a first grader (1-S). They love their teachers. Everyday they come home with something good to tell daddy and me. My first grader talks so much about her computer teacher, about how awesome and nice he is with her and the rest of the students. They come home with new songs or new things they learned. Everyday is a big learning day for them. I am very glad I enrolled my kids at Heritage Elementary. The Principal is great and helps the parents and students so much!!

AWESOME facility for a charter school -- or any school come to think of it. Great staff. Free before and afterschool care which the kids love. Close to Luke. Bussing to your neighborhood for only $5/month. Free breakfast for the kids at their classroom desks every morning. They have a greenhouse, a computer lab, two cafeterias, a really huge gym with a stage and great family events. We really love this school!

My family loves this school and its staff! My kids couldn't be happier and we're extremely picky parents when it comes to our kids' education. Our friends and I all moved our kids here and have been more than pleased with our choice. The facility is much better than Crown Charter (nearby school) and it goes up to 8th grade with a great facility.

I am impressed! After homeschooling my kids for two years due to a non-perfect fit at our local public school, I was skeptical about enrolling them in a charter school this year. I am SO GLAD THAT I DID! This school's campus is AWESOME! It has a complete middle school for 6th to 8th graders, with a huge gym, lockers, computer labs, etc. All of the staff is super friendly! The teachers seem to be invested in the education of both of my 3rd and 6th grade sons. They LOVE IT! I LOVE IT! I love the option of bussing and FREE BEFORE/AFTER CARE if I need it from 6am-6pm. Can't say enough good things about this place!

When my oldest son was first started attending this school in 2007 for Kindergarten the school was great, when my 2nd son started there for the 2010/2011 school year things went WAY down hill! The bussing situation alone was terrible with drivers that can't control the bus. The school alone had little to no parent/staff contact. The turn over in teachers is high. My sons kindergarten teach who was no older than 22 yrs old last year tried to put my son in an anger management class just to get him out of her class for a little while. There were so many issues last year, and I'm so glad that my children WILL NOT be attending this school EVER again. My fear now is that they may be behind at there new school, because of the last few years at Heritage. DO NOT ENROLL YOUR CHILD HERE!

There are so many wonderful things about this school and the direction it is headed! I am so proud to be a member of this organization, and I would strongly encourage anyone with questions about the school to go straight to the source for information. There are many biased reviews posted here of previous employees or families who are sadly out for malicious purposes, who do not share in the direction and the goals of the school. Many improvements and changes are in place for this upcoming year, and I'm excited to be part of the Heritage staff!!!

I have had so many issues here at Heritage! I am so ashamed that my kids ever attend this school. My kids have been cussed at by the "director of sports" pushed by a teacher, the bus is totally unsafe and no a/c, never on time. It is a shame how far down hill this school has went. There is no way I will be returning. The sports program that they brag so much about is so unorganized. This place is a joke and no more. Heritage doesn't even deserve 1 star but this site leaves you no other option.

I am a student at this school and I wish I never was! I am currently in seventh grade and I have been here since I was in fifth grade. My 6th and 7th grade years have not been good. There are very few teachers that actually care about the students. I mean don't get a degree in teaching if you don't want to teach! There has been vodka bottles found in the 7th/8th grade bathroom, bullying,and numerous fights this year. I am advanced student and I do not recieve the accomadations that I need. I have to sit in class being bored because others kids do not learn the way I do. Because of my illnes( Reflex Sympathetic Distrophy) I am teased constantly because I can not do the things that other kids can. When people ask me what school I go to, I am ashamed to tell them that I go to Heritage Elementary School. Ever since 2009,when our previous owner Mr. Robinson left, this school has gone down hill. Parents should not send their children here for various reasons. If you want a quality school, than Heritage is not the school for you! This school deserves a 0 out of 5. It also needs some major improvements. We don't even have enough books for everyone. 5 kids have to share 1 book!

Let me be clear, there is precious little at this school that is about children. The teachers are dedicated and priceless, but unsupported by the charter holders. The holders rarely visit the campus and don't even know the faculty. Why is it so difficult to do what is good and right for kids? This school is designated as a not-for-profit, but it is clear who is making the profit.

WHATEVER YOU DO, STAY AWAY FROM THIS SCHOOL! I can't believe I even have to give this school 1 star. I am on staff at Heritage, and I know first hand about the horrid things that go on behind closed doors. Please, whatever you do, do not send your child to this school. Find a school with an honest administration, along with a school that has shown consistency in staff. Although there are some wonderful teachers, they are treated with disrespect and fed lies. Teachers need to spend their own money on ANY supplies and have little to no technology to offer the students. When teachers asked for pencils for their students, they were laughed at! And, the bullying is OUT OF CONTROL. Again, I can't state enough that you need to STAY AWAY FROM THIS SCHOOL! Any person who gives this school a good review has NO idea the horrible things that go on here, or they are lying. If you don't take these warnings seriously, you are making a huge mistake.

We have 2 kids at the school, and are very pleased with it. Our kids came from other schools and were not performing well, and they have seen great improvement here. Teachers are excellent, and the facility and location are great. We love having the bus system available.
