We had a lot of issues at Legacy over multiple years, and unfortunately, the problems seemed to continue getting worse. The schools ratings have declined, and there are serious concerns with overcrowding, staffing and administration turnover, and lack of support for students with 504 plans.

Overcrowding is a major problem. My sons 7th-grade class had almost 40 students, and the classrooms are small and overcrowded. Many teachers also dont have teaching certificates, and don't have the training to manage classes this large. They end up yelling at students due to their lack of experience. Teachers often left in the middle of the school year, even though they had to pay a large penalty to break their contracts and leave early.

The administration has also been a revolving door. There were three vice principals last year, and the most recent didnt return this year. This made it very difficult to address problems. I would constantly have to start over with someone new.

The biggest issue was the lack of support for his 504 plan. In our experience, it was not properly followed or supported. One teacher even told my son that autism and ADHD were not an excuse. If your child needs accommodations or additional support, I would seriously think twice before sending them here. They need to be able to count on the school to actually provide the support their child needs.

Scheduling was another issue. He was supposed to be placed in gifted this year, but they scheduled him for English during the same period instead of scheduling around it and accommodating it. I asked them to change his schedule so he could continue to take gifted, but they refused and did not respond to my email.

For junior high they were asked what electives the wanted but we're given none of what they wanted and making schedule changes after the year started instead of getting it completed before school started.

Another ongoing issue was homework. Teachers would assign work that had not been taught in class, leaving me to teach the material at home so my son could complete it.

There is also a dress code, but it doesn't seem to be consistently enforced. Girls regularly wear extremely short shorts and skirts without any enforcement.

After dealing with these issues for multiple years, I would not recommend Legacy, especially for families whose children need additional support or accommodations.

I had all 3 of my kids here, but only 1 of the 3 is left here. We took them out because it was difficult with work and no school bus. That one year was the decision maker to move things around and bring him back to Legacy @ Avondale. My kids were so advance in comparison to the public school. The kids in public school were asking my kids how they knew so much. Hands down I would recommend any parent to place their kids here. The teachers are always communicating with parents whether it's for good or disciplinarian issues. Security is great, you have to get buzzed in. We were recommended to come here by my wife's cousin who also has her 2 daughters in the school. When it comes to customs and courtesies the name says it all, LEGACY! Enroll your child you will not be disappointed. Ohh and two thing the kids will love is that Wednesday are 1/2 days and there is no homework on Fridays.

a staff member falsely accused me of throwing a phone at her, which never happened. this is a serious allegation, and when i asked for proof, none was provided. situations like this should be handled with honesty and accountability, especially in a school environment. i am escalating this matter until it is properly addressed.

Principal Daileys approach to communication and student discipline has raised concerns among families seeking fairness and consistency. Important safety issues were not addressed in a timely or transparent manner, and parent outreach following incidents was often delayed or incomplete.

Leadership accountability and clearer communication protocols are needed to ensure that parents are properly informed and that student safety remains a top priority.

This is the worst school, please stay away from this school. The school is discriminating and labeling kids unnecessarily. The teachers are disrespectful, unprofessional, and inexperienced in dealing with kids, especially kids with special needs, my son was called out by one of the teacher and she embarrassed him in front of his classmates, also school test scores are going down, they're always hiring new teachers and staff, obviously they are not just the worst school but also the worst place to work with. Don't rely on the current assistant principal either, she's too busy proving her worth to the school but less concerned with pushing and supporting the kids to get better.

My children and I love Avondale Legacy Traditional school; they have attended since kindergarten. I find teachers, principle, staff, students and parents collaborative to provide a successful environment. Great curriculum which include Spalding, music and Spanish and much more. Teachers do a fantastic job in educating our children but ultimately its our responsibility as parents to reinforce and encourage growth. Be prepared to be a proactive parent as homework is given daily. Tutoring is available; if needed. Volunteering is optional but encouraged. Highly recommend Legacy.

Great school! Love Legacy in general.c I love their approach to teaching students, parent involvement , and homework. I hate when parents complain about homework and then wonder why their kids arent doing well in school. Those type of people make absolutely no sense. This campus is predominantly Hispanic but it is diverse. Everyone is friendly and community is nice.

Way too much homework and no time for children to play and be kids. Homework requires lots of parental assistance and takes a couple of hours to complete each night... except Fridays.

If a teacher is experienced, I feel they can be effective. But the larger class size is definitely a minus because the only assistance is from volunteer required parents. My child's kindergarten teacher was awesome at her job because she was an older experienced teacher who knew how to control her class but I do not recommend this school for everyone. It involves a lot of time and effort from all parties involved.

I think they try hard to be a great school but it's do it our way or hit the highway. No wiggle room, not even for the teachers. They are all on the same page at the same time....very controlling leadership environment.

They do offer assistance for students who struggle, such as tutoring after school, etc... but from my experience if your child requires a lot of assistance and can't keep up, don't send them to Legacy Traditional.

Tough.... I really did not sign up to go back to school for the third time and that's literally what happens to a parent who follows all the school homework and volunteer requirements. You the parent ... do most of the work. Better to home school so you can set your own time frames...lol

School leadership is engaged and experienced. Expectations are high, but reasonable. Drama and music were exceptional. The library was a favorite, as well as computers. When my student was showing mastery beyond her class she was accommodated. Except for the lack of art and foreign language in the younger grades, and requiring uniforms, I have no complaints about this school.

My sister-in-law and I moved our kids from public schools to Legacy because of how great they presented themselves. My sons class had 32+ to one teacher. The class room had literally no room for them to walk to the teachers desk! Kids have no time to be kids at home. They have to get homework done, read then study for weekly test on every subject. On top they have to get a school report done every quarter. Don't try talking to the principal she is the worst, she literally told my sister-in-law, "If your son cannot keep up with the curriculum then this was not the school for him, we are a accelerated school, with a waiting list of over 500 kids."

I am thoroughly pleased with the education my son is receiving at LTS- Avondale. These schools offer parents a solid choice in education. Parents have many opportunities be supportive and involved both on campus and at home. This is an accelerated-paced school that truly raises the rigor in each classroom. These teachers are talented in their craft and strive to bring out each individual student's strengths. The work is solid and challenging, but well worth it for the end result.

I had a 2nd grader for the 2012-2013 school year at Legacy. I LOVE this school. When me daughter was in the 1st grade she attended public school in the Glendale School District. She got into a lot of trouble because the curriculum wasn't challenging enough for her, she was to advance. I had no problems with her behavioral last year. Legacy gave her a challenge in every subject. She even said out of her mouth that she had no time at Legacy to be bored. Her teacher was the GREATEST. To me it seem the teachers care alot more about their students. The students are taught math and reading a level above their current grade. I really don't know what else to say but my daughter will attend Legacy for the 2013-2014 school year. I'm very happy I decided to enroll my child in this school.

I was very disappointed in this school. The class sizes are huge, over 30 students to one teacher, with very little supervision. Kids are given so much homework without instruction, students are left on their own to figure it out. They ask for parent involvement, only so they can keep a limited staff and not pay for additional help. With the amount of money they are making with an over crowded school they should have plenty of funds. They are so concerned about adding and paying for new buildings little is left to really address kids needs. They are not aware of no child left behind. If you child requires any special attention they would prefer the child not attend their school. If you child is doing well it is because of the parent teaching not the teacher. And most teachers at this school can not teach at a public school because they don't have the credentials to do so. Just ask.

The whole thing is a farce! They bring your kid into an overcrowded classroom with a student to teacher ratio of 30/1. The teachers act like they are college professors standing on their soapboxes and lecturing to the kids, yes even the little kids. Then they demand behavioral perfection and have zero tolerance of any child-like behavior. It starts with taking away recess time and progresses to expulsion. The child is expected to sink or swim in the overly aggressive curriculum and all the while the school is hoping and planning for your child to fail. Why you ask? Because it is in their corporate charter to secure a certain percentage of government funding for the tutoring of all the failing students under the Title 1/No child left behind act. Yes just attend the schools curriculum night and they will tell you all about how the school teaches specifically to the top of the class but don't fret.. good old title 1 is waiting in the wings to prop up your failing children! In short the only thing this school has to offer is the safety from the gang banger mentality among the students. In this school you don't have to fear your child being picked on by the other kids, no they are too concerned with being targeted by the teachers and the principal...

Honesty and integrity is a 2 way street. How can you demand honesty when you are not being honest with the families and students. The kids see the teachers in the same light as an adult would see any authoritative figure in a military or a prison setting. Essentially they are powerless to be an individuals and must conform or pay the severe consequences.

I strongly disagree with the honesty and fairness given to each student. If your child makes the smallest mistake, instead of addressing the issue, they send the child home because they don't have the resources to handle it at the school. Such as a child not raising there hand and just shouts out the answers. Steps are not taken, they just send the child to the office to call home to be picked up.

This school wouldn't even do what I asked. I asked for a 504 plan for my child's medical condition. I asked for evaluation. I put this in writing. THEY NEVER DID IT. Federal law states they were suppose to. Instead they told me my child was a failure and asked me to find him a new school. So I did...and I took both of my kids out. A few months later my son was diagnosed with Major Depressive Disorder, ADD and ODD...after he attempted to commit suicide for feeling like he was a failure because he was asked to leave this school. I found out after the fact that I could have made a complaint to the school board because they never followed thru with the requests I made for getting him help. I never said anything to anyone about how they didn't even try to help him. The only reason they told me they wanted him to leave is because he didn't do homework, but he could pass any of their tests with A's and they didn't understand how he could do that. If your child will follow all the rules and do their homework you should be fine. but if you have a child that struggles in school you can bet they will be asked to leave before long.

The curriculum is good. I love Saxon and Spalding. I love the school uniform idea too, but I wish they would not allow jeans. Jeans are too different in styles and colors and I see kids wear "skinny" jeans or jeans with holes and start bully other kids in uniform pants that they are not stylish.

Reading the prior reviews....this school has tutoring coming out of every direction. They go above and beyond to provide the resources to help your child succeed. It does require that as a parent you stay on top of assignments, due dates etc. My daughter has attended this school from day one and she loves it. They offer so much to parents and students. Just my two cents. They are disciplined and expect their students to be courteous and mindful of others and apply themselves 100%. I personally don't see anything wrong with that. Just my two cents....

Legacy is a great school for those who are obedient, motivated, self reliant and who need NO extra attention from their teacher. This is supposed to be public school open for all children but they reserve the right to ignore and eventually push children out due to academic and behavioral issues if they don't fit the schools vigorous methods. This is a charter school that doesn't cater to creativity, disabilities or anyone outside of their highly structured, eyes forward, bubbles in mouth box. Be cautious of this school. The wrapping is pretty and the staff presents it well.

I love Legacy and their curriculum. Yes it is challenging but if you want the best for your kids you will want them in this school. I have 2 daughters currently enrolled and I couldn't be happier listening from them how much they enjoy their teachers and the school. Be prepared to spend quality time with your kids doing homework. I would never consider a public school as an option for my girls. Thanks to all the wonderful staff.

My daughter just started LTS in 2014-2015 3HR. AM Kindergarten and has Mrs.Newton she is an amazing teacher and has really gone above and beyond her duties. Ms. Smith ( principle ) is great very sweet and always in a happy mood when I see her! The school does so many things that I was exposed to as a child (pledge, citizenship, honor, responsibility, most importantly respect! ) the time I've had on campus all the teachers & staff are so sweet & kind, it's a very nice comfort knowing my kids in good hands no matter where she is on campus. .... Also another great thing is the parent involvement is just wonderful, giving the parents the opportunity to be in class and help out as much as needed is just great..!! the schools in my area (Littleton district) do NOT even teach & don't ask questions they are rude..(was there during summer ). So when my child had the opportunity to attend this amazing school, I did anything to make that happen! AND YOU SHOW TOO! IF YOU REALLY CARE ABOUT YOUR CHILDS EDUCATION YOU WILL WANT THE HERE!! My family & i Couldn't be more pleased with the staff & school!

LTS Avondale is a wonderful school if you want your children to stay busy and challenged. Ms. G, Mrs. Atkins, Mrs. Klue, and Ms. Blake are all dedicated, loving, wonderful teachers. Mrs. Smith is an excellent principle who cares deaply for her school. The staff in the front office are always eager to help and talk with you. I am sad to transfer my children to a different school but the high standards were proven to be too much for my family. Like I said, I would recommend this school to any family that is looking for a school with high standards and has the time to dedicate towards the rigorous school work.

I would NEVER recommend Legacy Traditional to anyone. Staff,teacher and all are un-professional and un-ethical .I have never been so humilated by anyone.They do not have any acadamic problem with my son they said he is not a right fit for our (so called) structured environment.He needs slight behavior support but they denied to help and push us to make a decision .From day first they complained and sending my child without inform me to the resource room for no limit of time.My humble request to parents please make sure that your child is save.

There are no words to express how grateful I am to have found this school! LTS in Avondale has gone beyond meeting mine and my husbands expectations. Our kids have been attending this school since it first opened its doors three years ago, and I have never questioned my decision when it came to choosing a school for my children. It is very challenging and you definitely have to be an involved parent in order for your child to be successful. With that being said, I would recommend this school to any parent whos child needs a little extra challenging and is not afraid to except the challenge.

This is an accelerated school and my son did great in the beginning, but has recently had difficulty keeping up. That being said, the school has been wonderful in helping him. They have offered tutoring (we accepted) and made accommodations giving him more time to take tests and homework even though they didn't have to so that he would no longer be frustrated. I also began working with him at home taking time to sit with him while he does his homework (which is time consuming as a full-time working mom, but worth it). His grades are now improving and his teacher and I are both certain that his improvement will continue. I feel like this school is making him better prepared for life beyond K-8. At his old school, the work was a lot easier and I was afraid that would leave him behind when it came to high school and beyond. Plus, this school expects me (the parent) to be a partner in his education, which I love. They give me ways to stay informed and to volunteer. I also love the focus on being good citizens and treating others fairly. He was having problems with another student and the teacher and Vice Principal helped to resolve the situation very quickly.

This is good school if you want your child to be totally overwhelmed and struggle to ever keep up. Challenging is good, but it goes beyond that! It is very apparent that the teachers themselves can;t even keep up! It is about the numbers....and if your child struggles, they are told if they can't keep up...then they are in the wrong school. Wow great way to help them!!

Legacy Traditional is a school that challenges students on a daily basis. They have an accelerated program and it requires the child to be motivated to learn. I have 6th and 8th grade students and the work is challenging for them. But I am definitely an involved parent and try to support their work on a daily basis. Yes, it's difficult to get dinner on the table and help with homework but the goal is a solid foundation in the basics. On the basis that college has become a privilege instead of a right, this school gives my children the best foundation to move onto high school and beyond.

I would NEVER recommend Legacy Traditional to anyone. They are all about their numbers and if your child's academics isn't to what they feel is at their level they will push them out of there. I have never been so humilated by anyone. They compared my child's work to another child's work, very un-ethical and un-professional. They will try and sell you on the smaller classes so you child will have more one on one with the teacher, so not true. If they want kids to be at a first grade level when coming into kindergarten they should test the kids before having them start their school, instead of having a child hate school because of the insane stuff they want these 5 year olds to learn.

My daughter was in 4th grade with Mrs. Atkins last year and my son was in kindergarten with MRs. Newton. They are great, knowledgeable, awesome, very nice teachers. I love both of them. My kids were fresh from the Philippines last year and I thought they would have a hard time adjusting. I owe a lot to both these teachers because they have been very supportive of my kids and they have guided them to become excellent students in their respective grades. Both of them were constantly in the honor roll/principals pride and they couldn't have done it without supportive teachers and the help of the parents as well. There is constant communication with the teachers via email and online with the parent portal and you are informed of your kids status in school all the time. I love all the opportunities given to the kids to learn. The only thing I was not so much excited about are the tons of homework daily except friday and book report and poem recitations every grading period . However, the postiive side to that is that my kids were exposed to a lot of math problems and a lot of reading and I appreciate that part. I have most definitely recommended this school to a lot of my friends. :)

I had a 2nd and 4th grader at Legacy this year. My husband and I absolutely love the level of rigor and attention that our girls received. Their teachers were warm, loving and extremely professional. I received several emails each week with classroom updates and opportunities to get involved on campus. Since we started bringing the girls here, nearly all of my closest friends have enrolled their children because they saw how happy we are. Thanks Legacy!!

My kids started 5 and 7 grade last year at this school. It was much more challenging than public school, but both are accelling very well. They are now in 5 and 8 grades, and the 8 grader was accepted to University High. We know he will be fully prepared. My only complaint is that our 5 year old was supposed to go there for kindergaten, and after submitting the enrollment papers, we suddenly received an email that we had to find another school because they cancelled early kinder testing. It left us scrambling to find him another school, with the nearest being 8 miles away. He will attend 1 grade next year here, so I hope he transitions smoothly. Other than that, the school is very good.

This is our first year at this school, and I can't compare to any other as my daughter is only in Kindergarten. Since starting school at Legacy, my once quiet, shy, and soft spoken child has grown to be outgoing, and loud. She's learned so much this year, and loves how fast the curriculum is. Everyday she comes home happy. Her teacher is beyond wonderful and whenever I have a question, I can shoot her an email and get a reply by the end of the day. The school requires each family to volunteer 12 hours a year, which is not unreasonable at all. I love the staff here, and the overall atmosphere. Would recommend this school to anyone.
